This song was a one hit wonder for 4 Non Blondes, but the singer Linda Perry has gone on to be a hugely successful song writer, and written songs for Pink, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, and more. Tasha, she probably wrote a lot of songs you love.
As a musician this is one of those songs that, at first listen on the radio, I knew would be a hit. Great acoustic guitar and KILLER vocals. Tee is in a small minority opinion on this one. Having said that personal taste is a freedom :).
Sasha,I agree with you actually I'm listening to music over 60 yrs I rate her as one of having the greatest vocals ever. Everyone digs what they dig. Linda Perry is a great songwriter wrote for Pink and others. I love the song!
I saw this band open for Aerosmith in 1993. I knew this song and that was it, but they blew the roof off of the Charlotte Coliseum. Definitely had the crowd warmed up for the main act.
I still get up occasionally in the morning, step outside & scream from the top of my lungs "whats goin on", just makes you feel good {good thing I live in the sticks in Georgia - GO DAWGS GO BRAVES} ✌💖☮
I’ve come to like this song more and more over the years. The vocalists dose have a heck of a voice. I’m a 70s- 80s drummer that thought it was a bit too silly when it came out but it’s growing on me. Haha
Still grinning watching your split decision on this one. I liked the song. It was overplayed on the radio. (Aren’t all good songs at some point?). A point to each of you. 😀 The lead singer, Linda Perry, is a gifted vocalist, lyricist and music producer. In 1996 she released a solo CD called In Flight and I was evidently one of the few that bought it. Music critics liked it better than sales indicated and I side with the music critics on this one. Per Wikipedia she was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2015.
Outstanding song ! Outstanding vocal range ! Linda Perry wrote this song, what's an incredible melody. She has the 1969 Woodstock look with a refined Joplinesque clear voice style. Love the goggles on the top hat look.
I vividly remember hearing this for the first time at a bar in Zimbabwe, her vocals blew me away. This song and All That She Wants seemed to on a constant loop in the two years I was over there.
I like the song, I remember when it came out I was literally thinking and saying, "what's up?" With this song? Everyone seems to love it. Back when I was going to kareoke alot,it was still kinda popular. Linda Perry is a very talented song writer and producer she's worked with many other artists. This song has kind of a anthem feel to it, I think.
4 Non Blondes frontwoman Linda Perry said when she wrote this song "It's like why does it always seem like either I'm struggling or there's some f--king political mess happening? Why is this all happening in the world?" This is what comes to my mind too when I listen to it and it's so relevant especially now. The song was influenced by the political climate of the time when George H. W. Bush was president but she left out all political references leaving it to stand on its own to give it staying power and let it be a song everyone can relate to and feel that connection to humanity. A really profound and beautiful song. We all should be continually asking what is going on in this world because we all know it's not right. Thanks for reacting to this song ❤
There are several covers of this song but the original is always going to be my favorite! Linda Perry plays the guitar for Dolly Parton in Dolly’s version and even Lady Gaga did a version though she was literally screaming in her version! Thanks for the great reaction video! 🙏🏼
Noone ever knows name of band or song and they "first time" react and then chorus hits and OOOOOOOOOOOH. She says "I have heard the chorus. UMMM. who hasn't. lol. nearly the entire world has. 1 Billion + views, I think that gives a picture of the extent this song is known.
This song is especially relevant with culture and this Biden administration! "What's going on"? I honestly don't know why he didn't like this song. 🤷🏼♀️ This song is iconic and timeless!
You're the first reaction channel I've seen make the connection from this song to the He-Man meme. But this song is more relevant today than ever. Not a day goes by that I don't think, "What the hell is going on?"
Ohmigod this was so much fun. Tasha was lovin it and T, your expressions were priceless brother. This was a massive hit, btw. Let's just go listen to some fuckin righteous metal, man. Like God intended us to. I never saw the he-man version.
Gotta listen to, fill me up, mr. Spaceman, can't get you outta my mind, and in my dreams. All awesome. She's married to Sara Gilbert , she had Christine Agulara and pink living with her. That was a weird relationship thing that went bad, then she started writing some crazy break up songs like, it fn hurts. I can't get you out of my mind.
Linda Perry can sing almost anything. She had Zepplin cover band. Look up Linda Perry zepplin, or 4 non blondes Misty Mountain Hop. You will be amazed.
I was a teenager when this came out. It was catchy, but he's right, it was overplayed. However when I matured, I became more appreciative of female artists. Unfortunately I was in my late 30s until I realized I had a bias in my music.
This was the point in their career where they were no longer the huge big deal and they were no longer the young hunks all the girls wanted. So what do they do? Come out with the best album of their career. Write a song telling everyone they're fine, they won't cry for yesterday. They're fine living in the ordinary world. They survived all the craziness from earlier in their career. Turns out their was real substance behind their music. They were able to adapt to a new music scene. And not just survive but thrive.
It's her business. She doesn't need a hat that's a ridiculous comment. Her voice is everything one of the greatest I heard in my 60 yrs of listening to music
One of the neatest, coolest steals in music history. Pretty much identical to the melody lines of "Don't worry, be happy". Probably not many others than the genius that is Linda Perry could come away from that, still standing high..! 😁
I don't care what anyone says this is an iconic 90s song
Even the Brits Agree. 😃
Well, anyone who doesn't agree with that is braindead.
💯
All time iconic
The whole album is iconic. My favorites are Morphine And Chocolate, and Mr. President.

True a one hit, but the whole album is actually pretty good. I mean they definitely had a song writer
And God bless her for that, we're all beneficiaries.
And a better voice than all those ladies, too bad she didn’t sing them herself.
This young lady here is so perceptive. She really listens and instantly homes in on the meaning of the lyrics.
I am a Heavy Metal fan but this is awesome! How can you not love this woman’s talent?
I always liked that song, her vocals were awesome. The he-man parody was hilarious.
Being a teenager in the 90s was a whole other world lol. Listened to this a lot then and now❤
Dude couldn’t take it seriously after thinking about HeMan…😂
I said the same thing. He couldn't think of anything else but He-Man the entire time.
Unfortunately He-man got him first. So he can't enjoy the original song
Linda Perry is one of the best songwriter out there. She written big songs for many artists
As a musician this is one of those songs that, at first listen on the radio, I knew would be a hit. Great acoustic guitar and KILLER vocals. Tee is in a small minority opinion on this one. Having said that personal taste is a freedom :).
Linda Perry's voice is amazing. So much power.
Her vocals were outstanding in this.
She's Sara Gilbert's wife. The song was a footnote in the early 90's. It actually became more popular over time then it was at the time.
What!?! I f@ing love learning shit on youtube!!
Sasha,I agree with you actually I'm listening to music over 60 yrs I rate her as one of having the greatest vocals ever. Everyone digs what they dig. Linda Perry is a great songwriter wrote for Pink and others. I love the song!

I ran a karaoke show for many years and when this song came out it was super popular and many people loved to sing it.
If you were of age during the 90s you would have heared this song everywhere on the radio and in the clubs. Still a great song
I sing this at the top of my lungs every time I hear it. 😁
This song... this f'n song... timeless. A genuine classic.
Her smile is soooooo beautiful!
Mythic 90 s song..... all people from that period knows it 🎉

That is a great song her vocals are spot on
I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it! And after 100+ Times of hearing it, I STILL Love it!!!!!
Awesome song!! Unique and one of my favorites
Outstanding song ! Outstanding vocal range ! Linda Perry wrote this song, what's an incredible melody. She has the 1969 Woodstock look with a refined Joplinesque clear voice style. Love the goggles on the top hat look.
Vocals and lyrics are amazing!

I loved this song as a 10 year old in the 90s and still do as a 42 year old man .
I enjoyed this song. She is awesome!
I'm with you, Tasha👍
Fun Fact:
Singer, Linda Perry was married to Sara Gilbert. The woman who played Darlene on Roseanne, and Leslie Winkle on Big Bang Theory
This came out when I was in HS. We all played it over and over driving around in our cars. ❤🙌
There are several covers of this song but the original is always going to be my favorite! Linda Perry plays the guitar for Dolly Parton in Dolly’s version and even Lady Gaga did a version though she was literally screaming in her version! Thanks for the great reaction video! 🙏🏼
Linda Perry is now the top song writers and producers going.
Wow, liked HeMan but not 4 Non Blondes? That song rocks, that’s the first time I have ever heard someone say they didn’t like it
And more great tunes on that album!
I don’t like this song…
@@tiffanytosh1569 you're weird...
Oh nice!!! Love this song. It’s been a long time!!
Finally a reactor that doesn't like a song and says it. Ty
1:58 The best performence ever. I'm waiting for full cover ❤😆
Linda Perry has an awesome voice and shes and incredible song writer...
🤣🤣 your intro!! Imo, this nothing short of a freaking anthem!! ❤️❤️✌️
Who hasn't felt at least once in their life that "I'm screaming from the top of my lungs what's going on"?
Noone ever knows name of band or song and they "first time" react and then chorus hits and OOOOOOOOOOOH. She says "I have heard the chorus. UMMM. who hasn't. lol. nearly the entire world has. 1 Billion + views, I think that gives a picture of the extent this song is known.
Out of respect for Marvin Gaye, they didn't call it What's Goin On. That's why it's What's Up.
Never knew that! Thanks, man!
This song is especially relevant with culture and this Biden administration! "What's going on"?
I honestly don't know why he didn't like this song. 🤷🏼♀️ This song is iconic and timeless!
I love the way you address music...extremely open-minded
My guy was literally trying not to laugh the whole time cause he had the He Man version stuck in his head 😂😂😂😂😂
I liked this song when I was a teenager. Greetings from Finland.
Wow that took me back!! Haven't heard this song in years!! Love it, thanks for the great reaction!!
This song was very popular back in the day.
I agree, her voice is amazing and unique.
My daughter introduced me to this song love it!
Us gen xers would just like to tell everyone....you're welcome for our music.
An all time great song
That cartoon is ridiculous- I’ll never get that 45 seconds back 😢
Her voice might be the best...listen to more of the album!!
Love this track!
This song may be there only hit, but it will AWAYS be my most fav song forever, fits my personality perfectly.
I don’t even want to see the He Man clip
this came out 30 years ago. holy crap.
I'm 40 years old and still asking "what's going on" 😂
He's like 'ok, whatever, with this nonsense...
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
bro PROPS for first mentioning the he-man parody. This song rules but you nailed it, that's what first comes to mind.
The entire album is great. No one ever reacts to any of the other songs.
Lol the dude looked like he was about to laugh all the way through
The HeMan version was the first I heard of this song, too. lol
In my experience women/girls always love this song and guys don't. I'm not surprised by this reaction.
I'm mainly a heavy metal guy but I absolutely love this song, Her vocal range is off the charts, I don't think anybody can match her
One of my favorite songs of all time
You're the first reaction channel I've seen make the connection from this song to the He-Man meme.

I never saw the he-man version.
thats not her brother
@drobichaud1000 I was calling T brother, not suggesting he is Tasha's brother.
I've actually been a close follower of this channel for a long time.
I am with you Tasha-all the way.
Absolutely great song!!!
It was awesome back in the 90's when it came out...
Tasha is very insightful! IMO, the song was about women trying to break-out in the music industry which at the time was dominated by men.
Love this song! Her top hat 🎩 reminds me of the one Slash (Guns n Roses) wears :)
Gotta listen to, fill me up, mr. Spaceman, can't get you outta my mind, and in my dreams. All awesome.

I become a rock star when this song comes on! ❤🎉❤
I’ve never met someone who just didn’t like it… I was shook, lol.
Women love this song and we know what she means. A anthem for all women and he is the only man's reaction I have seen who didnt love it.
T you are the first person i know of that doesn't like this song.
Lol, really?
She's a great singer, they have much better songs than this one. I don't rely care for it either
Same. First person I've seen not like this song.
It's one of those once in awhile song I love hearing this song at certain times
Linda Perry can sing almost anything. She had Zepplin cover band. Look up Linda Perry zepplin, or 4 non blondes Misty Mountain Hop. You will be amazed.
Bruh you Bogus! Classic tune
Great tune.
im with you its a great song! i did like the Heman version though
This song is great, don’t worry about the haters.
Too bad you didn't get the total mastery of this performance. To each their own I guess.

This is such a good song.

You could be the first person I ever heard that didn't like this song. And I heard this song from the day was released.
But a lot of people don't know is she wrote a lot of the hit hop songs
