The glass was remade to be thicker than the 2nd gen (1990-1997). The car also received the NHTSA 5/5 star crash protection rating from the government from the 1998-2006 model years. I think for rollover protection having thicker glass does help when it comes to quality and crash resistance.
The car does also have velvet window seals, glovebox and front armrest compartment. I've never known another vehicle other than the Lincoln town car which has velvet trimmed window seals, every other car is polyurethane which is so cheap and the seals dry out and rot as they age. Mine is also a 2004 and performance white, just turned over 240k miles recently and has the original drivetrain.

The manual says use regular 87 octane. Truth is, it often runs best overall for performance on 89-91 octane. Put that in, go to dry ground without wind, turn off traction control and slam her. Omfg her tires will chirp all day long and she'll be so much fun to drive!!!

You are absolutely correct is your comments about your LTC. I own a 2005 LTC and do love it! When my wife got in for the first time she said the seats are more comfortable than our living room couch. When I bought this a couple of years ago, I don’t believe anyone had ever ridden in the back seat! Correct on quiet ride down the highway. I love driving down the road 80 mph sitting on a comfy couch! The only thing you will hate is the dreaded water leak around your fresh air intake that will fill your back passenger floor with about 5 inches of water when you have a heavy rainstorm. On the right side. If you always keep in garage you’ll be ok. Easy fix though. Have fun and enjoy.

Lincoln Town Cars are the best vehicles and the road. Your Town Car has one one the best engines out there. The power is better than the 2011. Keep the engine clean, tires balance /aligned, change the oil every 5k miles. Use the A/c in automatic mode, it will last longer. Use only 87 Oct fuel. You will love it , I still own two TC and a Lincoln Continental.

This is when an American car really was as durable and long-lasting as a Toyota or Honda. You could put 100's of thousands of miles on these since the 80's with the 5.0 and it only got better in '91 with the buttery 4.6.
You could drive these cars nearly endlessly, nothing about driving these wears you out, just eat up the miles. These will cruise at 90 all damn day.

While I agree that this generation (03 to 11)TC has a nice smooth ride, IMO the previous gen (92ish to 97) has the best ride because those have a little more float to them. No matter what gen these cars are they are built to last and they are pretty much bulletproof. They do have their quirks but they are fairly easy to work on and you can still find most parts for these things all over.

Hey I read your comment and I do a lot of driving for my contracting business Across the state I am a die hard Toyota Lexus man I've been reading great reviews about 06 and up in regards to the town car They say 06 and up they have worked out any bugs And I figure finding an 07 with 50,000 miles on it in clean condition will not be a problem Just need something that is going to be durable I am immaculate when it comes to maintenance My only concern is in regards to the air suspension have you had any issues with yours and do you have any advice?

In 2008 they deleted the air ride for traditional coil springs, I have a 2011 model and the ride is a bit stiffer than my 2003 model but still very nice without the problem of the air ride going bad, if I needed to buy another town car in the future it wouldn’t matter to me, and I would buy another one before anything else, you can buy these quality cars for half the price of a Toyota or Lexus, lots of people just don’t know how good they are.
The only major problems with these cars is the plastic intake manifold tends to crack after approximately 130,000 miles, not always but this is a known problem for the Ford 4.6 L V8, but it’s a cheap fix $800- $1000 for an otherwise mostly problem free car, they should’ve made them out of metal in the first place but oh well.

Don’t sweat the idea of the air ride so much. When these cars were first coming out, the price of replacing the air ride compressor and bags was expensive because it was newer and it was OEM stuff directly from Lincoln. Nowadays if the air ride goes out, you could get aftermarket air ride from a company called Arnott (arnottindustries.com) and replace it yourself for relatively cheap. It is not as big or as expensive as a job people make it out to be.

In replying to antonioleal900, who rides a Crwon Victoria Police Interceptor, noted a comparison to my 2004 CVPI I've owned for 16 years and am now disposing of due to too many issues to resolve after 248k miles. The LTC has insulation not present on the cop car and the engine air intake has a smaller inlet with a couple of mufflers for suppression of noise into the cabin, sacrificing about 20 hp noticable on acceleration pickup. Once underway, cruising is fine. These are the last true limousines.

I want to say these cars have a special type of metal alloy that the body is made out of to dampen sound as well. This is especially evident while it's raining. Raindrops on the roof have a sort of dead thunk as it hits the roof while other cars that I have been in have a have a distinct metallic sound. I also know that the doors have sound deadening material in them too.

Hope someelse restores it or it keeps lots of others on the road. Will miss some practical features of the CVPI like the ticket light, more hp from the wider engine air intake, better view from the bigger rear window, and superior instrument cluster providing a water temp and voltage gauge not present on the LTC. But the trade off is the 6 features pointed out by GetThisNick. Its like turning in jungle combat boots for designer dress shoes. The wife and grand daughters (I'm an old coot) prefer the new ride.

Hey! Thanks for checking out the video! So this video is one of my earlier videos on my channel of my car. How you see it here is how it looked when I first got it. That chrome was added by the previous owner. I have personally removed the chrome above the wheels due to worry about rust. I did a video about it on my page. Essentially what happens is water seeps in behind that chrome strip above the wheels, and causes the fender to start to accumulate rust. I personally think it looks better without them too. Check out my most recent video to get an idea of how she looks now!

But it doesn't look bad since you took them off, I saw the After pics. I sure miss my '09 Silver Birch TC, sold it over the summer to neighbor and he loves it. His 80 y/o parents will use it to drive around when they visit from CT. I also sold my '05 Cashmere Edition Thunderbird on BaT in May, miss it somewhat. But liking our 2 EVs, Mustang Mach-e and Tesla Model Y - I personally like the Mach-e better, but eh then I'm a FORD guy! It hasnt even been 6 mos, and I'm getting an urge to look for a 1989 Town Car "Cartier Edition" hehe. Enjoy your car as long as you can. Not too many worries about rust with yours, at least it is garage kept. And be thankful it didn't have one of those "carriage/vinyl roofs" I saw another video of a guy who took his vinyl "Palm Beach Edition" roof OFF and omg, the RUST...all over, and what a mess. @GetThisNick also, what nobody really brings up about how well they are put together is the exterior door handles. I've dealt with a lot of wack handles, but these feel very solid. I'll have mine the rest of my life

I wish lincoln had not stopped making these great cars. I feel there is still a demand for a big American luxury sedan. It's the reason so many people are buying huge pickup trucks and suvs. This is a beautiful car!

Ford learned nothing from the disastrous decision made by GM back in the 80's.
Current versions of Lincoln models look like old fashioned statues, staying in dealers for an average of two years.
To make things worse, Ford has no idea of what to do with two millions, battery-powered F150's. 😢
Chapter 11 looks like a phantom menace in their nearest corner.
Unfortunately, a well deserved end. Trophy for the most idiotic management ever there.

Is it a good buy with 300k miles?
Can it be taken to long road trip regularly?

    • @GetThisNick
      @GetThisNick 9 месяцев назад

300k miles is a lot more miles. I’d take mine on a long road trip no problem, but something with 300k you’d really need to do your research on the maintenance and if it was taken care of properly

I just bought a 2007 and at 57 years old this is definitely my car, my F-250 died big time and I had to find a car in one day and I knew from past experience’s with Crown Victoria’s (3 of them) that this vehicle platform was excellent but I had no idea how comfortable and quiet these cars were, I used to be tired and fatigued after a long drive in my truck but not in a Lincoln, I actually look forward to every trip in this car, and when I get to my destination I sometimes just sit for awhile basking in my buttery soft leather surroundings, it’s almost to comfortable to get out of, so yeah I would say favorite thing about the Town Car is comfort and effortless driving.

Hello, I owned a 2nd gen T C traded for a Lexas 400, regretted my actions later. My brother purchased a jelly bean shaped T C, he enjoyed the car before his passing. I've looked at Cadillac manly because rocker arms and ball joints last longer, more technology and that air ride is not foremost in the back of my mind. Never owned a Cadillac, will just have to see.

The way the brakes are set up on that car, it is The perfect car for a new driver. You really feel the weight when you drive it. Young drivers are typically heavy throttle and heavy brake. This car teaches you not to do that
