I Put a Living Desert Inside a Table…Big Mistake

- i was so scared I peed myself a little bit
I'm proud that I was able to transform a thrift store table into a tiny desert ecosystem! It was a fun project and I learned a lot!
Come say hi on Instagram: / connorcreates
And subscribe here on YT: / @itsconnorcreates
I really appreciate your support, thanks for watching!! I hope you have a great day!
#diy #diyprojects #terrarium #desert #scorpion

If there are animals involved please use aquarium silicone or 100% silicone because the most glues are not animal safe but aquarium silicone is made for animals
Gel type superglue is safe
@P@EinsteinsGhost0 but he didn’t use gel type superglue
Where's the heat source
This guy never fails to put a smile on my face. Incredible man!
Aww so glad to hear that!
True!
Love the build Connor! In the future make sure to make a terrarium like this water tight for when the plants get watered and add ventilation holes for the critters:)
Thanks so much! And great suggestions, I'll keep them in mind for next time!
@itsConnorCreates I love how responsible and responsive to feedback you are with live animal projects like this and the aquarium
Why isn’t there a bottom to the terrarium? Definitely should have a layer of plexiglass on the bottom instead of the wood.
im pretty sure there is
Afeter a while the wood might rot and the small decomposing creatures can eat the wood I think
There is a bottom
There’s a bottom but the didn’t use glass
Absolutely should be plexiglass bottom. Moisture will mess up the wood & could mold.
commenting before watching. hoping connor does these little creatures justice, good tank, environment and life. wondering how he's going to do lighting and heat...
edit after watching: good scape, but where's the heat and ventilation? a false bottom would be best too so the sand isnt sitting directly on top of the wood, which may rot. there should also be a shallow water bowl.
he didn't keep it watch the very end
@Anteatereatingants you understand the end makes it WORSE right?
This somewhat disappoints me. The animal isn't being looked after properly 😑😑😑
there is glass on the bottom
@Bootleg_Megumin At the very very end he takes the scorpion out to rehome separately. (I was very concerned too..)
ItsConnorCreates creativity:📈📈📈
Glad you think so! 🤗🤗
edit: and WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY MUCH MORE
@itsConnorCreates you should do a video making stuff out of bottle tabs
Poor scorpion probably thinks he's gonna get abducted by aliens as Connor chases him with thr UV light 😅
Eaaarly love ur viddds❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@Overdriverampageeh?
lol
Very cool, but a desert terrarium with cactuses that are fully closed like this don’t work. A fully closed ecosystem like this creates a very high-humidity environment and will quickly kill the cacti inside.
I’m eating a cinnamon roll right now.
Now I want some😭
To the kitchen🔪
Noice
🗣🔥
Save me a piece
yummers
Says "tiny insects" shows a crustacean. Engagement bait worked on me.
I'm an advocate for isopods. All isopods matter!
You should build a paludarium next! It’s a hybrid between a terrarium and a Aquarium
Oohh very neat! Thanks for the idea!
Yes please! Maybe with a frog or vampire crab!
@itsConnorCreates no pls don't, do your research first before doing anything. not using animal safe adhesive and not putting vent holes shows you did not do your research on this one.
@redswordz9131he might of after the video or did and didnt tell us
the king of crafts and DIY has returned.
I’m honoured!🫡🫡
Can you please create a tiny aquarium inside of your shelves!!! I am a huge fan and keep up the good work!
That's a cool idea! Thanks for the support!
that's definitely something to be careful about. aquariums and incredibly complicated and require a decent amount of knowledge to maintain. cycling is important too. setting up the tank, conditioning the water, letting it cycle for at least a month. then picking out the right fish for the tank size, natural plants, maintaining the parameters, water changes every month, etc.
@itsConnorCreateshow about you make a friend with a fish in it?
He already made one out of an old TV
@itsConnorCreates This is starting to become sad. Connor please don't do it. You've already hurt one animal in this video. Then you probs ended up with dead fish in the 'tv.. Please stop abusing animals for DIY projects or do proper research. 😢
Love your channel.are you not worried about the wood bottom rotting out?
Idk I don’t think donating literal animals to a thrift store is a good idea :/
Hoping it's just a joke 🤞🏻
@AnwenRobertsfor real. That would be bad if he actually did
9:05 I love how you're using a kids shovel😂
I sometimes don't even register what you are doing in some videos, because I'm constantly thinking this is what RUclips was made for, because it's such amazing content man.
There is many layers of goodness to your videos, very unique, and humbling, and appreciative.
Thank you !
I really appreciate your kind words and support! I’m grateful to be able to do all this! Thank you! 😊😊
2:26 A coffee a day keeps Connor awake!
True dat 😅
Connor, don’t they need water?
He didn't keep it. He said he's giving it to a proper good home
Yes they do, that’s why he didn’t keep it
1:50 It was raining and dude did a cinematic shot, Props man 🙌
I always go the extra mile for y’all 🤗🫡
First youtuber who is that big and still replys to his comments 😃Have a day
I try me best to! Thanks you as well 😊
Your welcome didnt actually think you would comment😅
Terra green needs to see this
pls give the scorpion ventilation
I sure hope it gets some air movement.
Sooo... Did you watch the whole video?
Mabye u shoudl read a book😏
Bud read a book😒🤯
@ITSMEobviously-p1znot to be rude but maybe you should use auto correct 😏
isnt the wood going to rot ? i mean, if you have living creatures in there you need a tiny bit of water...
Cause it’s a desert environment it only requires a bit of occasional misting so I think it should be fine 🙌🏻
@itsConnorCreatesWelp idk but… add an Humidifier i guess? Meh it would still need to be some smart one or smth
@itsConnorCreates ive reasearched on iceopods for a while they need water to survive because they are actually crustaceans and need access to decaying plants/animals to survive and as for the scorpion, scorpions need about 70 to 90 percent humidity depending on the species sense they have exoskelletons and need humidity to maintain them and shed and they NEED a water sourse idealy shallow and they NEED cross ventilation to prevent stagnant air and bacteria growth but thats a necessity for both of these creatures this was a really cool build but before you get any animal regardless of the reason its always important to do your reasearch so you know what they need to thrive i love your vids but as an animal activist it kinda upset me a little bit the one thing im happy for though is the enclosure is the right size and could even be smaller honestly so good job on that but yes withought all these changes put into place your
critters probably wont survive unfortunately..
@bluepheonix222 watch the very end
@Anteatereatingants this honestly makes it worse purchasing a live animal for content only to get rid of it afterwards is just not okay if your going to purchase an animal it should always be in your head that you plan to care for it for the rest of its life honestly just because its a scorpion doesnt mean its okay if this was a dog people would be outraged lets not normalize buying animals for content 💔
7:21 here in canada i havent gone to school in 2 weeks due to snow lol
I WAS JUST BINGING YOUR VIDS!! YAY! I love how genuine you are!! I’d love to see more of the terrarium videos!

I’m glad you’re back. It’s nice to watch your wholesome diy fun content
Thanks so much, glad you enjoy it!! I appreciate your support😊😊
I think a cool and harder project could be you making a small working railroad track with a homeade train car
New vid!! Yaey plus every time I watch your vids they are really calming no screaming or chaotic stuff going around just a chill guy trying to make people smile
I appreciate you saying that!! Thanks for the support 🤗🤗
@itsConnorCreates OMG YOU REPLIED!
Remember me when I said I hope you get 500k subs now look where you made it 👍
Pretty incredible! I’m very grateful for everyone here, legit the best community on YT!
MY FAVORITE ARTIST HAS BLESSED MY FEED‼️‼️ i get so happy every time i see that you've posted lol
Aww that means so much!! Glad you think so 😄
I think you should make a Leaf Blower Jet Engine Chair, and use a bunch of high power leaf blowers mounted to the back, with a throttle to control the airflow. Also I want to see if it is strong enough to move a person.
Finally, after weeks you got a new video, but its still top notch and legit, Applause to you Connor!
Thank you!! 😊🫡
Can you do a cupboard with has forest ecosystem on it(and add lizard in it)pls
Sob ur literally my inspiration. Ur just proving the point that u can turn anything into something. u gotta keep going man I love ur vids ✋😔🤚

Haha glad you still found it eventually!😅🙌🏻
FINALLY HE POSTED
You can tell a lot of people didn't finish the video. He didn't keep the table or the scorpion. He said its going to a proper good home
Ya someones gonna take it and squash all the bugs and sell the table😢
@TMF_Toastyr you dumb? It’s going to a proper home, bugs get squashed all the time. Get common sense?
You are seriously the embodyment of 'be curious, not judgemental'.
Hair reveal! 7:18
😆😂
Day one of asking for ecosystem drawers
Btw loved your content from day one, my favorite was the rocket project. And the clay was also a pretty well video just like that one time you made soda from trees (i tried it too and it was incredible).
You have probably killed that poor scorpion not to mention the party mode probably traumatized him 😢
8:20 wow that rocks…. Get it?
11:45 When that San Pedro Cactus is a little bigger, cut the spikes off, peal the waxy outer later off, and then harvest the green photosynthetic layer, dry it out, grind it up and then eat it, thank me later! hahahaha
hey im trying to make a aluminum ball videothis week got any tips also love your vids your such a good builder
Turning thrift-store furniture into a sealed desert terrarium is no joke, and this was executed really well. Using foam for elevation instead of rock is exactly what I’ve done before to control weight and structure. The ecosystem planning with isopods + arid plants shows real understanding, not just aesthetics.
LMFAO. That ecosystem is so inappropriate for isopods. There's no food for them, they can't dig appropriately, and there's no food. They eat rotting wood/detritus. And even desert isopods need humidity. There is no understanding of what the isopods need.
Bro pls try birding and wildlife photography. Trust me it will be fun ❤❤❤
"The desert has to have living plants and creatures" My man, that doesnt work like that. Great video, by the way.
I have tons of ecosystems specially desert ones, a few tips for the rocks it I would shape them and then stack, and I would use clay instead of dirt, so when the clay dries there will be a lot of cracks and will make it more like rocks, you could also add dirt but I like clay. but you put dirt to cover it so it’s good too. Last tip, I would add heat lamps or heat pads, with more hiding places
Great start to my post surgery
Hope you have a speedy recovery! 🙏🏻😊
my man is slowly creeping into my niche and I am HERE FOR IT!!!
You should have done a table giveaway we would have loveddd it.congrats on the baby. Love your videos. Keep going ❤❤
Please keep these things with you next time 😊
connor creates creates more content to create a creation in my heart that creates happiness!
I don’t know how that make sense😭
Wow this took me a while to understand. Have a great rest of your day!
@Marsha.ot8 XD
@Bixony Connor makes me happy
@Bixony Or connor creates more content to create happiness and joy in my heart does that make sense now?
The scorpion needs ventilation and some water source
i was absolutely FEINING for a new connor upload🔥🔥
Even as the world seems to be going crazy, I always know Connor will be creating!
By the way as long as the glue is on the surface of the glass, you can use a really sharp razor blade to scrape it off and it shouldn't scratch either
WAKE UP EVERYONE, CONNOR UPLOADED!!!
Cool idea but execution could be a tiny bit better:
- masking off the edges of the acrylic panels before applying the solvent or using glass panels and silicone sealant instead.
- adding a impermeable layer as the bottom surface instead of having everything on the wood surface.
- UV strip lights in addition to the RGB strips.
- ventilation/heating/water source.
Thanks for the suggestions!🙌🏻
Everytime I asked a question during the video, you answered it immediately after 😂 looking forward to seeing what’s next, Connor!
What next are you gonna make tiny camels for inside the desert now too?
How did you guess!?!?
@itsConnorCreatesOMG HI
Great Video Connor Bro,Can you please make a mini rainforest terrarium with living organisms in it as your next project.😊
how do he breathe
Finish the video, he didn’t keep it
Today, I went thrifting with Connor.
Doesn’t get cooler than that 😊
Edit: it does get cooler-family of four is peak coolness 💚
A NEW CONNOR CREATES VID
Does the cactus provide enough oxygen?
I started watching Connor before this year began and I think I almost watched all of them. I love your videos keep it up man ❤
Epic!! Thank you!😊❤
9:05 SHOUT OUT TO THE THREE DOLLAR GOLD PANNING SHOVEL STILL GOING STRONG! 🔥💪🔥
LOVE THAT YOU RECOGNIZED IT! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
A constant survival mode for the table resident. Surely a spray of water is enough for cacti. Yea, fernleaf can help ventilation as well.
I love your channel my grandpa made a table with liquid glass with fake water and fish inside of it using a large piece of a tree log btw when I say liquid glass I think it's just epoxy
Please never quit conner your videos are so good really one of the best youtubers on youtube right now
Means a lot hearing that! 🥲 thanks!
The smaller the claws, the more venomous a scorpion is
I love it! The Forest table was the First Video of you watched back Then…so nostalgic 😅
My question was it it still works because i always wanted to recreate it but thought it was mouldy and therefore wouldnt work so what Happens to yours i wonder?
Congratulations for your new adorable baby! And I am glad for the scorpion to be out even if it was a pretty nice place.
Going to regret not putting a liner over the wood. Looks really good though.
I think this is such a cool challege and creative idea! how cool is it to be like "yeah here's my pet scorpion as my coffee table"
Really cool terrarium - Need some air holes and maybe a heating lamp to keep your critters happy!
-Edit - I didn't realize you gave it away!!
One day I found Connor and he has become my all time favorite RUclipsr!!🎉🎉 Great ideas and content I’ve looked for in the past🎉🎉🎉
Thanks so much for watching and for all the support!! So happy to have you here! 🤗
As always a really nice project Connor. Take care of this little piece of desert and congrats for the new little fella in your family :)
