Definitely a worthy contender for Rian de Waal's recording! I really like the slower introduction, adds a lot of character and tension which makes the resolution right after all the sweeter.
I've never seen a live performance of this. I'm currently learning this piece and it is very HARD. Probably about as hard as Liszt Mephisto Waltz no.1 or 2.(Which makes sense cuz Tausig was a pupil of Liszt) I found your video cause I was looking to SEE(not hear) how the glissandi should be played. Thanks! Great playing by the way too.
this video is amazing, unbelievable that people can play such music! My biggest Bravo to Xiuwei Yu! I know this piece since years and I recommend to watch it on thenameisgsarci - there you can see the sheet music looks partly literally like ghost ships. Masterclass from both Musicans and Composer Karl Tausig.
Thanks for a very great performance. You put more MEANINGFUL music to this work rather than just a showing off of technical virtuosity like many other pianists.
