    Wait there is no auto leveling before each print? Seems like they are false advertising if that's true. I have an Adventure 3 lite and a updates offers their "auto" leveling process. Its great, but that's not auto. Its It is preset locations on the build plate for you to manually level. So you don't have to move to each spot manually. Which is a time saver for sure, but that bothers me how they are presenting it. Thanks for reviewing it, it is a very nice video!

    I’m a complete idiot when it comes to anything tech. I’m getting this 3D printer. Thank you for the review. I have Tourette’s so building or assembling one is a no go for me. So having this bulky lad of a machine is nice.
    As well as this, it’s got a good bed size, and warranty is quite cheap for it.
    My one problem before buying is the HUGE size compared to bed size, but for a printer like this, which is a dream to an idiot with TS? Worth.

    I have a few 3D printers and the marble and wood filaments need a hardened steel nozzle for those machines, does this machine come with one or is it a quality brass one, how long did the default PLA nozzle last?
    I am tired of having to fiddle with and upgrade my 3D printers just to get them working correctly, I have been looking at this model for a while now and have come to the conclusion that I am better off with one of these.
    Great review by the way, you answered most of my questions, I am going to need quite a few different nozzles especialy the high temperature ones but it looks as though I will have to order them direct from Flashforge unless they have a UK distributor as Amazon only stocks the Adventurer 3 ones

    • @StusReviewsUK
      @StusReviewsUK  3 года назад +3

      Great question! Once you’ve gotten over the initial ‘I WANT TO PRINT EVERYTHING’, it takes a little while to get your head round owning one… and you need to build it into solutions. So for example ‘damn, I need to mount these tools to the wall’, so instead of spending £10+ on a set of tool mounts… log onto thingiverse and print some off! I’ve done it with tonnes of stuff… tool clips, pegboard shelves, headphone mounts, plant stalk supporters, echo wall mounts, cable tidies, The list goes on!
      And if you get your head round using something like tinkercad, you can start building solutions yourself for things you need

    The cost of these machines is overkill, ya its nice its already enclosed but getting a Ender 3 or Neptune 2 you can get an enclosure for them and still be under the price of one of these machines. I have a Monoprice Voxel (renamed Adventurer 3) and two Neptune 2's with enclosures, and the Neptunes were cheaper then getting just the one Voxel.
    Sadly the slicing program for these machines is pretty basic, it gets the job done but there are some....nicer....features that Cura now has that would be great to be able to use on the Voxel. Technically it can use gcode, but its tricky to get it to work, so your kinda stuck with FlashPrint MP slicing program.
    Note: These machines are also quite....noisy....probably due to not using a 32bit board and the vibrations aren't dampened very well.

    • @StusReviewsUK
      @StusReviewsUK  2 года назад

      I guess it depends on what you want! Sure the ender 3 is cheaper (and its a great option for beginners), but it definitely does not come with all the bells and whistles, and you have to assemble it yourself. It also looks quite 'raw'...
      I agree however about the slicing software. Cura is my preference in most cases, but flashprint is pretty comprehensive once you get your head around it.
      As for the sound... the AD4 is absolutely quieter than the ender 3... (i've got them side by side at the moment).

    Awesome new printer Stu and I did look at one of these but opted for my FLSUN QQ-S Pro Delta printer as it has a slightly taller print height to it. It's not enclosed like yours (yet) but totally agree with keeping the heat enclosed for a good print. I have tested many filaments but have come across many issues with all types not printing correctly at the stated specs. Please let me know how you get on with ABS or PETG and what temps you use as I cannot get the stuff to print properly at all

      If you’ve never smelled a printer before… a lot of people like the smell of PLA… it’s a little sweet… a bit like popcorn? If you have, and you know the smell, this one is far less obvious because of the filter and the fact it’s enclosed! There’s still a slight smell of PLA, but nearly unnoticeable.

    • @StusReviewsUK

      It’s WAYYY cheaper to print something than it is to buy it! (Not in all cases, but definitely in many)!
      But you’re right, a lot of people just print ‘things’… I personally use it as a tool to print things I need, and it’s handy using things like tinkercad to design things that don’t exist already as a solution to a problem I’m having.
      I even designed a full sized master sword (zelda) as a floor standing lamp for a gift! To buy that it would’ve cost hundreds!

Can the Flashforge Adventurer 4 print TPU, or, if not, is there another 3d printer that's otherwise comparable to the Adventurer that I should get instead if I want to do TPU printing?

    • @aLiminalThing
      @aLiminalThing 2 года назад

      A bit late but maybe I can help you: the Flashforges are Bowden-type extruder (Filament goes through an ptfe tube to the nossle) but for TPU you should use an direct-extruder (without the ptfe tube)
      The Models by "Qidi" are enclosed and are direct extruder (Qidi I-Mate S ~500$ or the Qidi Tech X Plus ~750$) there are some reviews out there of both

    Great Review! Hopefully it'll work out for some people, but I have my reasoning never touching one of these again.
    I understand , you're reviewing the Adventurer 4 and I also understand it cost nearly 3x as much as my Flashforge 3D lite, which was my introduction into 3D printing and left a very sour taste in my mouth over the years to a point that I no longer do any 3d printing, I just don't trust it it's gonna work and in my experience, I would stay away from Flashforge printers as far as possible. I plan to possibly get a 3D printer in the future, I still have like 6 rolls of PLA and another 3 PTEG sitting around ever since I started printing. I just refuse to spool it into the adventurer 3D, so just give you an example of level of mistrust with this brand.
    To understand my disappointment, you have to understand what I went through and why I feel the way I feel about this brand. Below is my "rant" of the previous version, the 3D Adventurer Lite.
    First off the bet it has too small of a platform and a lot of things I tried had to be scaled down right away. And then the dreaded 0.5Kg filament rolls only. I 3D printed some parts to get the 1Kg filament spools on, but it's a so-so solution, since now it's a lot noisier and Flashforge 0.5kg filaments cost as nearly as much a 1kg and that in my dictionary is called a "ripoff". For starters, It took me 4 tries to 3D print a simple cylinder shaped object so I can use a 1Kg roll but read on:
    I also can't get the nozzle leveled. It seems like none of the distances are good enough and I watched 3-4 youtube videos and read forum posts and so on how to do it with a piece of paper and how to print adjustment tests and wipe it down with alcohol, all the way to buy a whole new nozzle, but no success here. The printer starts making those noises that it's pushing the filament back, so it has those hammering sounds while printing and it either ends up messing up the whole thing or it'll have a lot of errors.
    Regardless, even the "best" filament used and default options or even with adjustments, only about 40% of the prints come out somewhat good, the rest is a waste of filaments and time.
    3rd party support is nearly non-existent. I can't use any other slicers with this. Only 1 or 2 Flashforge printers supported in most other slicer apps and of course it won't be the 3D adventurer.
    And last but not least, I don't think this printer is really able to handle PTEG. If I thought PLA printing was bad, PTEG is even worse. You mentioned stringing issues , but trust me, I used the higher temp nozzle meant for PTEG, and set everything and adjust everything there is to adjust it accordingly, and it will string and ooze at any settings and if I lower the temp too much it just won't stick right.
    I've been looking at 3D printers as of the end of 2021, but it's going to be anything else but Flashforge. I think you understand my reasoning.

    Great review! Love how clearly you presented the product. I have dabbled in 3D printing and have used the machines at the office. I am now interested in getting a personal 3D printer for home. I want a low-maintenance machine that I can put in the garage, and I will be printing mostly PLA. I came across FlashForge's products and watched a few reviews on RUclips, including yours. A couple of questions:
    1. One reviewer indicated there was some design flaws with the belt (ruclips.net/video/aJNv-Plyiq8/видео.html), and experienced repeating layers shifts. Did you experience anything like that? I like how Adventurer 4 comes preassembled, so I really don't wan to be messing with the gears and belts.
    2. I am also looking at Flashforge Guider II. With a discount currently running, it's essentially the same price as Adventurer 4. I think it's got "older technology, software, a non-removable bed, and no cam" but also seemingly more robust hardware. Do you have any experience in Guilder II, and do you have any opinion on which one is a better option please?
    Thank you!

      I’ve seen all sorts of medical applications for 3d printers! Mostly training, but the best one is a company that 3d prints theme fake arms for kids for free! They do things like iron man arms and storm trooper arms. It’s incredible stuff!

      @@StusReviewsUK yes, indeed. I am currently a dental tech student and in the coming years the profession is going fully to 3D printers, 3D scanners and 3D cutters. Usually alot more expensive than this one, but as far as I am aware for the temporary plastic crowns and protesis this should be doing the same job. For ceramic, circonia, metal, titanium etc there are 3D cutters that cut the designs from those materials. Pretty much everything could be done via that new tech today even micron accurate protesis and even blood vessels.
