It's Red Mask (Aha) showing White Mask (Sparkle) all the wonders of Elation and making her fall to the insanity of it all, through the Russian roulette game (albeit figurative). At the end, Red Mask (Aha) is holding White Mask (Sparkle), and they both get shot by a singular bullet. The White Mask falls into the water and turns into the Half-White Half-Red Mask we're accustomed to, symbolizing the 'merging' of Sparkle and Aha.
I think you're on to something! Makes sense why we only see red+white mask Sparkle in the final shot too, that is current Sparkle showing us her origin story of how she became a masked fool.
One more thing, during the Penacony cast morph things, before Adventurine is White Mask while Acheron is Red which highly implied that Red Mask Aeon's Persona or similar, as Acheron is an Emanator of an Aeon. While White is humanity. Before turning back to Red and White Sparkle. Edit: While before Black Swan is Black/Dark Red Mask, which could mean others or opposite of the White Mask of human.
just realized that in the Russian roulette part of the trailer, she shoots at herself 5 times before "forcing her other self to shoot her", which means she KNEW it was the shot with the bullet ( it was 4 times but it makes it even better/worse ). it's 6AM and I still haven't gone to sleep so I won't think too much but there IS a link with her "what is a fool/what is foolishness" line and I love it, idk what yet, but I know I love it. I also feel like there is in fact no "mask self" and "true self" and that they are all just a role. Even her previous trailer was most likely a fake backstory that was nothing but a role for her. And as her being a villain in the story the red side is the one that has majority control over her. It represents the internal struggle that we all face with our good side and bad side. All the chaos and Russian roulette represents the struggles within ourself. Idk I can go on about my take on it, but I think this would hit home for a lot of ppl

If you see closely in the wager scene there's actually 2 sparkle there, First White shots herself first - it missed - then got interrupted by enemies, Second Red got the gun then she shots herself 3 consecutive times - all missed, Third Red give White the gun and point at her own forehead, triggered the gun and it missed. Near the end of the trailer White got shot in the head and drop the mask, Red pick it up, use it and the mask turn into red mask. And at the end of trailer Red is not moving while White ask us "were you scared just now?", so my conclusion is sparkle just playing around and having fun by herself while indicating that no matter if it's red mask, white mask, no mask, every single one of them is sparkle. All of them have different personalities but they're all the same person.

I thought the Masked Fools refer to The Fool of the Major arcana and that’s why they are not “stupid”. Which can also be interpreted as the protagonist of the mysteries of life. I just assumed it because of Black Swan😂

So some mild spoilers from the black swan storyline coupled with my own conjectures: i think the masks holds a bit of Aha's spirit in them and i think the alter the mental state of those who wear the masks, each time affecting them more and more. I think the red mask is meant to be Aha's influence while the white side is more of Sparkles self. Her mask having both colors implies that they are coexisting. Considering Sampo also has a mask and knows the masked troupe directly: it would a good assumption to say that he was also affected by Aha and thus his personality being the way it is. Edit: also their obsession over their masks would fit in with Aha: i would guess its a sense of liberation similar to doing drugs
Main takeaway story-wise for this trailer is Sparkle can be anyone at any time. She could be Black Swan. She could be Acheron. She could be anyone. Everyone is Sparkle and Sparkle is everyone.
"Fool" is pretty much not just in English too but even in Japan. Like the famous one being Oda Nobunaga the Fool of Owari. And literally he's acting dumb while developing the world's FIRST gun volley ever to be exist... Yeah, that's just how HUGE 3-line gunfire he invented... Even to this day any war would uses exactly that gun volley formation. So being the "Fool" isn't bad at all... Its actually a compliment and Oda Nobunaga gladly take that name.
I don't need any more Harmony characters... But I want Sparkle anyways. The fox mask really does it for me and I love her chaos energy, think she has a lot of potential for an interesting core character and an alternative character interpretation
Also what a lot of people seem to miss that Sparkle is a BIG Kurumi reference from Date a Life! The shooting herself is a big theme in the story and is like Sparkle a bit more extra than the other characters.

This kinda supporting my theory for the last trailer. What I think that sparkle is not a particular person, but those who embrace the idea presented by the (red)mask. A white mask could represent the original personality of sparkle which a red one is the idea of elation. And the change of the mask might means that sparkle is accepting it, or letting elation be a part of her. And anyone could choose to be sparkle, enjoying herself, performing a monodrama on the largest stage, which is the world. Too bad, most of us can’t bear the cost of it and have no courage to do so.

It is like those masks at the end represent different people or personalities that she could choose to become. Because in the last trailer, we see Sparkle being a different person. The mask behaviour changes along the trailer, from not the same as her own emotion -> sharing same emotion -> being totally opposite. It feels like a process of getting know to ourselves, being ourselves and eventually losing ourselves possibly because of the environment, pressure or any other factors. What I am saying here is like, how a person look like can be completely different in front of his teacher, family, friends or only himself. (This concept is in fact heavy in Asian culture, everyone has tons of faces just like a mask to protect themselves). And now she is able to choose how she is freely (picking whichever mask she wants).

Some stuff that's really interesting with the conversation is that it feels like the part of her that's just there for the PURE sense of elation isn't "Killing" herself as much as it is "cutting the strings" of her stray personalities that are scared or unsure of committing to the full feelings of elation. (Tons of puppet motifs, as you rightly picked up, including when she "splits" herself, those images aren't just her, they have the same ball-jointed limbs like what Herta has, meaning they truly are puppets). Cool touch is how it's a different mask each time Sparkle changes her appearance to a different character as well.

At this point, I'll be disappointed if they don't explore the angle of some mental health problems with Sparkle. Also interesting that you pointed out Arcane, which also explores similar themes. I cannot imagine how life would be if the insides of my brain has so much chaos. HSR have stepped up their trailer game, a lot. There were a few trailers that just felt dull and uninspired, taking their ults, boss fights and attack animations and throwing some voice lines into it. DHIL, Dr. Ratio, Ruan Mei. Especially after the quality of the stelleron hunter trailers, the drop off felt jarring at times. The return in quality since the start of Penacony is so welcome!

Theoretically, the white mask represents Sparkle, the red mask Aha, the half-white and half-red mask would be Sparkle representing Aha's will or being controlled by his insanity, however there is a fourth mask. A black mask appears where she transforms into other characters and in her ultimate scene. What could this mask be? I'm very curious to know what Sparkle is really capable of.

When the red mask falls into the water it becomes half red and half white and that's the mask you see the one at the very end wearing.
yoooo at 2:09 the mask changed aswell in the water, it merged with the red one and the symbol on it changed to kinda what she shows in her eyes ,also at 10:02 if u slow it down u can see AHA, aswell as someone that has the same mark in its eye as sparkles back tattoo , it kinda looks like a sorta flame, and at 10:09 when its showing the faces theres 2 sparkles the first one isnt smiling and shows a black mask for it, the last sparkle is smiling and neither of them have a mask on them, or their head
So some mild spoilers from the black swan storyline coupled with my own conjectures: i think the masks holds a bit of Aha's spirit in them and i think the alter the mental state of those who wear the masks, each time affecting them more and more. I think the red mask is meant to be Aha's influence while the white side is more of Sparkles self. Her mask having both colors implies that they are coexisting. Considering Sampo also has a mask and knows the masked troupe directly: it would a good assumption to say that he was also affected by Aha and thus his personality being the way it is.
Edit: also their obsession over their masks would fit in with Aha: i would guess its a sense of liberation similar to doing drugs

Main takeaway story-wise for this trailer is Sparkle can be anyone at any time. She could be Black Swan. She could be Acheron. She could be anyone. Everyone is Sparkle and Sparkle is everyone.
"Fool" is pretty much not just in English too but even in Japan. Like the famous one being Oda Nobunaga the Fool of Owari.
And literally he's acting dumb while developing the world's FIRST gun volley ever to be exist... Yeah, that's just how HUGE 3-line gunfire he invented... Even to this day any war would uses exactly that gun volley formation.

Also what a lot of people seem to miss that Sparkle is a BIG Kurumi reference from Date a Life! The shooting herself is a big theme in the story and is like Sparkle a bit more extra than the other characters.

Bro why us this making me think that all that will happen next, will lead back to Sparkle as she now plays every character, including our friends. I can also see her playing our hearts by offing all our friends and including the new ones
This kinda supporting my theory for the last trailer. What I think that sparkle is not a particular person, but those who embrace the idea presented by the (red)mask. A white mask could represent the original personality of sparkle which a red one is the idea of elation. And the change of the mask might means that sparkle is accepting it, or letting elation be a part of her. And anyone could choose to be sparkle, enjoying herself, performing a monodrama on the largest stage, which is the world. Too bad, most of us can’t bear the cost of it and have no courage to do so.

@@Utrilus I am not sure. But I think it showcase that she has a full control of her power, being able to become anyone. It is like those masks at the end represent different people or personalities that she could choose to become. Because in the last trailer, we see Sparkle being a different person. The mask behaviour changes along the trailer, from not the same as her own emotion -> sharing same emotion -> being totally opposite. It feels like a process of getting know to ourselves, being ourselves and eventually losing ourselves possibly because of the environment, pressure or any other factors. What I am saying here is like, how a person look like can be completely different in front of his teacher, family, friends or only himself. (This concept is in fact heavy in Asian culture, everyone has tons of faces just like a mask to protect themselves). And now she is able to choose how she is freely (picking whichever mask she wants).

Some stuff that's really interesting with the conversation is that it feels like the part of her that's just there for the PURE sense of elation isn't "Killing" herself as much as it is "cutting the strings" of her stray personalities that are scared or unsure of committing to the full feelings of elation. (Tons of puppet motifs, as you rightly picked up, including when she "splits" herself, those images aren't just her, they have the same ball-jointed limbs like what Herta has, meaning they truly are puppets).

HSR have stepped up their trailer game, a lot. There were a few trailers that just felt dull and uninspired, taking their ults, boss fights and attack animations and throwing some voice lines into it. DHIL, Dr. Ratio, Ruan Mei. Especially after the quality of the stelleron hunter trailers, the drop off felt jarring at times. The return in quality since the start of Penacony is so welcome!
