Welcome back to TO! Most Canadians like the Keg because of how consistent they are; you know exactly what you're going to get at the price point it's at. I've never left a Keg unsatisfied, but of course you are not getting the very best beef available. At the "casual fine-dining" price point in Canada you have Earl's, The Keg, Joey's, and then on a lower tier Montana's and Swiss Chalet and Milestones... at the higher-tier places, you can get a pretty damn good steak. In fact, I would put Earl's at the top of the tier in casual steaks in Canada, The Keg would be second. Earl's is close to being kind of like our Hillstone. I'll always make time for Hillstone's prime rib sandwich... one of the best, I think. Having a Keg nearby is great when you need to eat but all that's around is unfamiliar local restaurants of possibly dubious quality... like, I would never go out for dinner in Niagara Falls ON anywhere but The Keg, most of the restaurants there are just too shitty and overpriced, and at least at the Keg I know I'm going to get the exact same thing I would get if I was at their location in Medicine Hat, AB or Kelowna BC... it's the same everywhere. Plus an unreal view of the falls at night. Hy's is pretty overrated, IMO. For what you pay, you won't leave more satisfied with the beef than you do at The Keg. Very good table-side caesar though. If you want the local's choice.. it's Cote d'Bouef or their sister restaurant "Union" on Ossington Ave. CDB is more of a bistro than a steakhouse, and Union is more of a modern restaurant, but they both serve unbelievable steaks and great food in general.
Great Job UA, I grew up in Toronto and got haunted ;) many times (Thursday was Keg night for dinner after work). I would often do the Blue Baseball steak. Love and Light from Laos!
Awesome review UA! I am no food expert, but I’m born and raised in Alberta Canada. here’s my take on the Keg: the keg is a chain restaurant that is “mid-level” and if I were to compare it to the likes of Lugers/Keens I would say the keg is the “McDonald’s” of steakhouses. Don’t quote me on this, but it wouldn’t surprise me if their breads/desserts were brought in rather than made in house. I’m Surprised that you liked the prime rib maybe it’s because Canadian beef is really good especially beef from Alberta. I’m glad you had a pretty good meal/experience at the keg and thanks for coming out and checking out Canadian restaurants. Take care!
Yeah to clarify I went into this review with the standards of reviewing it as a chain. I don't think chains like this can compare to Keens/Gallaghers or Jacobs and Co/Hy's. But it doesn't have to, chains like this are about value for money
Don't disrespect the keg by comparing it to McDonald's. Their food is amazing. The steaks are always cooked perfectly. McDonald's can't even remember to put napkins and ketchup in my bag. McDonald's is a joke.
The bread at the Keg is always hot and fresh, even if it is super busy. Back in my early 20s, we would go to the keg all the time for cheapish price steak with decent quality, and then fill up on the freeflow bread!
I used to work at the keg! the breads aren't freshly baked in house but rather brought in. They're still very good quality bread though overall. Next time you go ask for a three cheese dip! instead of the garlic butter for the bread. Makes it 10x better.
Judging by (among other things) this channel, Canada seems to boast plenty of good restaurants. As a European, I'm curious about how Americans and Canadians view each other's food. Perhaps there's more of mutual appreciation than an outsider might suspect. Being from Sweden, I'd never deny neighboring Denmark has a great culinary tradition and I've come across similar attitudes in for example France towards Belgium. To keep a short story long, my father and I once rented a house in the area of Lille while on vacation in France and Belgium. Upon asking the French owner about which local restaurants he recommended, he replied "I always go to Belgium and eat, simply because the food is better". No French food chauvinism there! Maybe Americans and Canadians don't have a lot of opinions about each other's food, or do they?
Welcome back UA .I had a friend that worked at the keg mansion many moons ago and she claims she felt a presence every time she entered the room. I personally have eaten there many times one of my favorite places to go.
My first @UAEats premiere! Great job doubling up on steak for lunch and dinner. Glad to see that prime rib was a major improvement over the last one. I might end up going to my local Keg just to try that dessert. Thanks for the fun time! 🏈🦅
Are you going to the House of Chan this time around? It would be awesome if you did! And remember, Toronto’s best kept secret for U.S prime steaks & East Coast Canadian lobster! Get the ribeye or rib steak & since you’re always about the char on your steak, be sure to order “Pittsburg “ medium rare. They’re not dry aged, but they are absolutely delicious. I would absolutely love it if you could review that place!
The confit duck is awesome there. I really try to avoid chain restaurants, but I do appreciate the menu selection. It's easy for business meals because they have something that will work for every palate and dietary restrictions.
I was there in the late 70s when I took a trip to Toronto. The ghost story was already up and running, and I swear some of those painting on the walls upstairs were, also. UA is correct...you get what you pay for. Decent food at a reasonable price.
Wow walking from YTZ to York/Adelaide… in the winter? Ambitious. I’ve made that exact same trek a dozen times but never considered walking it. Re: menu, I always get the ribeye with the blue cheese crust & the twice baked potato is a classic. The Keg is a good go-to for a casual lunch/dinner - great value.
Crazy how much better the prime rib looks here than the dog food chart house; I still think that waiter was a POS talking all that jazz and then serving you that
Keg has been a staple in our town as the ‘fancy place’ for special occasions and been there many times for many celebrations. And many times get something I’ve had before, suddenly have a new take on it. Or the butter suddenly having a different seasoning to it. Maybe it’s a chef per chef scenario. I like to go when it’s shellfish season (sorry 😅) haha also making steaks right now while watching this whilst using The Keg spice blend
Toronto's Chinese food scene is better. But I must say that Crab Hot Lau on the Kingsway is one of the best Vietnamese places I've been to. Not your typical pho/bun/com place. Their Haiphong crab spring rolls are amazing.
Was on my PC while my wife was in the kitchen. I blurted out 'honey, UA has a new vid and without hesitation she replied: "oh, the predominant steak review guy. Bet it's a strip or NY. Hopefully his girl is vegan as a counterbalance to his overwhelming penchant for meat"- hahahaha 🙂
The Keg is a fine steakhouse if you want a decent steak but don't want to pay high end prices. It's not my favourite chain restaurant but I wouldn't say no to going there. Also I've heard that their Caesar's (the drink, not the salad) are good. Haven't tried them, but at $7 that's a pretty decent price.
Nice Video. You are the steak man . One day you should dress up as SteakMan hehe. Wlill you review a Brazilian BBQ restaurant ? All the best UA . Jim and Harriet
I’ve eaten at lots of steak restaurants in Canada and the USA but you can’t beat The Keg on value for the buck. Yes, you can get better but I love overall vibe of the Keg, not to mention their killer, Billy Miner Pie. Go there, you’ll enjoy yourself 😊
I couldn't agree more. I have eaten there hundreds of times. No pun intended but it's rare to get a bad meal at a Keg. Seeing the prices on some of the steaks UA orders at some of these places makes me nauseous. I will gladly spend my money at the Keg first.
I;ve eaten at the Keg a few times and been happy-Vancouver and Victoria. I would like that espresso martini! Strongbow-you're having a booze! I like dry cider, especially pear. I'm a blue rare guy but I would be content with that pink prime! What-you're not going to snort that horseradish like Steve-O on Jackass?
Lol They appently have a handful of US locations. Unfortunately they are so far away from me. Inmight aswell go to Canada! Id like to try this place though.
You Rock UA Let's Eat! Hope your dinner, live right now, isn't as jacked up as Chart House or wherever you got the wayy overdone mean and crappy bread Love life, my friend
Welcome back to Canada. However, this location, Haunted House, steaks are so-so. Despite, it being a chain, the quality at each location varies. The best I still think is the one on Leslie and South of Sheppard! The summer patio is great too. Come back on your BD, The Bailey Pie dessert is free.
If you love the channel consider supporting me on Patreon at Patreon.com/UAEats!

My brother is a server here and he has told me insane stories....and from people who had no idea this place is haunted...even creepy pictures.
This Prime Rib looks a hell of a lot better than your Prime Rib at Chart House . As usual an awesome review UA 👍🏻❤️. Keep it up 100K real soon !
Your pronunciation of Toronno is perfect. Welcome back!
Great Job UA, I grew up in Toronto and got haunted ;) many times (Thursday was Keg night for dinner after work). I would often do the Blue Baseball steak. Love and Light from Laos!
I love that this is a chain that feels comfortable offering Chicago style cook on a steak. Good stuff.
Welcome back to Toronto UA! I’m curious to see what other restaurants you’ll be reviewing during your visit. Enjoy!
Great review! Love it!
Hi UA all ready and set to watch another one of your great Vlogs

Mickey D's of steak houses is exactly how I describe the Keg. Decent food, good prices with excellent service.
Yeah to clarify I went into this review with the standards of reviewing it as a chain. I don't think chains like this can compare to Keens/Gallaghers or Jacobs and Co/Hy's. But it doesn't have to, chains like this are about value for money
@ cool cool good point! Enjoy your stay in Canada and I hope you find more good eats!

Now that’s a correct medium rare not like the Chart House that gave you an extra well done piece!!!
My family and I always go to The Keg on Christmas eve. It's a nice start to the holidays 🧡🌿
I used to work at the keg! the breads aren't freshly baked in house but rather brought in. They're still very good quality bread though overall. Next time you go ask for a three cheese dip! instead of the garlic butter for the bread. Makes it 10x better.
Great double review UA. Steeler Nation here, I will humbly be rooting for your Eagles 😖
Wreck it buy a new one! Fantastic review UA, thank you for visiting!
Also if you try it again, gotta get it chicago style. Super seared outside, medium rare inside
The Keg in St John’s NL family vacation 2016…sitting by watching 7 teenagers ordering steak dinners.
My wallet still hurts. Lol
The Keg is a great mid price point, they kind of have a "hidden menu" you can ask for example 24oz prime rib which isnt on menu but its well worth it
I might have to check out their hidden menu next time!

Great job UA. Always enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing. Stay warm dude. 👋🏽
Thanks Surf! Stay warm too!
The keg has the best horseradish. You can buy it at the grocery stores
Lucky that you have a Keg location near you! That Billy Miner pie is so good. Go birds!!!
Welcome back to Canada! We have a lot of purposeless museums and subpar hauntings here.
Super review 😂🇸🇪
Welcome back to Toronno UA. The tuna tartare is amazing.
Welcome back to Toronto!
Looks awesome
Always the top notch reviews. UA take your coat off, relax and enjoy yourself.
A few American friends I’ve taken to The Keg, are gobsmacked to learn that it’s a chain. They all found it to be as good as any standalone steakhouse.
Great place to throw a Halloween party lol
Great video, UA. Definitely lunch (especially dessert) caught my attention.
That dessert was crazy good!

👍🏽
I'm Canadian and I used to go here once a month at least
A GREAT restaurant in Toronto is called La Castille Steakhouse
It was a great restaurant steak house last time I was there years ago!
Thanks for the rec!
Count Floyd of SCTV can tell you a ghost story. RIP Joe Flaherty.
that prime rib looks delish.. and prices there much more agreeable than NYC
LOOOOOOL the thumbnail
We love it when you come to Canada UA!
wow this prime rib looks a lot better than the prime rib you had at chart house haha
$29.00 great deal for prime rib with a side 😊
The confit duck is awesome there. I really try to avoid chain restaurants, but I do appreciate the menu selection. It's easy for business meals because they have something that will work for every palate and dietary restrictions.
It looks medium rare from the video. The steak appears spot on! Do enjoy it in Toronto!
I was there in the late 70s when I took a trip to Toronto. The ghost story was already up and running, and I swear some of those painting on the walls upstairs were, also. UA is correct...you get what you pay for. Decent food at a reasonable price.
Also come to Ottawa
Are you back in Toronto?? Awesome!
I was!
Come back to CT! I recommend J Timothy's, famous for their buffalo "dirt wings," Naple's Pizza, Blackie's hot dog stand (cash only)
Wow walking from YTZ to York/Adelaide… in the winter? Ambitious. I’ve made that exact same trek a dozen times but never considered walking it.
Re: menu, I always get the ribeye with the blue cheese crust & the twice baked potato is a classic. The Keg is a good go-to for a casual lunch/dinner - great value.
That is huge for pie 🥧 wow
Now that's a prime rib, unlike the Chart House in Atlantic City
The prime rib here was pretty good!
Every time you go to The Keg, tell them it's your birthday and you'll get a Billy Miner pie slice for free.
UA if you're still in Toronto, go to Hy's Steakhouse in the financial district [not sure if you've already been there, but worth checking out]
They used to operate in the US too many years ago
UA, more Toronto content please. Try Harbour 60
Hey UA, if you ever feel like venturing to Minnesota, I have three great steakhouses you need to try.
Crazy how much better the prime rib looks here than the dog food chart house; I still think that waiter was a POS talking all that jazz and then serving you that

Memories just letting you know back in dating days the prime rib meal with salad main and billy miner pie was$1495
I'm sure I'm not the only one that is happy you got served a true med rare prime rib unlike the last video lol
The Keg started and is still in Vancouver, BC... talk about food heaven... come here for best Asian food outside of Asia
Toronto's Chinese food scene is better.
But I must say that Crab Hot Lau on the Kingsway is one of the best Vietnamese places I've been to. Not your typical pho/bun/com place. Their Haiphong crab spring rolls are amazing.

I tried Chop Steakhouse which is also a chain but I found the steak super flavourful
Pro tip UA - there's a free shuttle bus from Billy Bishop airport to the Fairmont Royal York Hotel right downtown
Yeah but I felt like stretching my legs. About halfway there I regretted it
the haunted it might be a marketing shtick ... the billy miner pie
Nice Video. You are the steak man . One day you should dress up as SteakMan hehe. Wlill you review a Brazilian BBQ restaurant ? All the best UA . Jim and Harriet
How about Tim Horton maple dip donuts
I’ve eaten at lots of steak restaurants in Canada and the USA but you can’t beat The Keg on value for the buck. Yes, you can get better but I love overall vibe of the Keg, not to mention their killer, Billy Miner Pie. Go there, you’ll enjoy yourself 😊
I agree 100%! Obviously it can't compare to Jacobs and Co and Hy's but it doesn't need to. It's amazing value
I couldn't agree more. I have eaten there hundreds of times. No pun intended but it's rare to get a bad meal at a Keg.

Wish you got the double baked potato… sooooo gooooodddd
Next time!
@@uaeats please do you’ll love it !

Hey, UA! You should check out Morton's Steak House sometime!
Should have gotten the rib steak bro, best item on the menu.
Next time for sure!
You didn't review the salad or the bread no bread what happened
next time ask for the honey butter
UA please visit Yees hand pulled noodles in Toronto!
Jus A Eats
The Massey mansion/home . Massey Hall.... Farm equipment manufacturer..
The bread is always like that.
Hi guys
Of course it's a friendly ghost. It's Canadian
Good point!
Just keep in mind that, with the Canadians, once the niceness and apologizing stops, the war crimes begin.....
Check out black+blue steak house while you are in town
Yes it's on the list for next time! Many people here recommended it
Pro tip: say it's your birthday 🎂. 😅
So uh your steak disappears off your plate without you eating it. lol. Always wanted to go to Toronto.
Foiled again by the Keg mansion ghost!
Man I’m hungry now UA.
Me too...
I don't like ciders especially angry orchard. Miller high champagne of beers all 👍 good
The Keg is a third tier steakhouse at best. It is the place the working and middle class can still afford for a steak.
Yeah it's a chain. It's lower priced so you get what you pay for. Can't really compare it to Jacob's and Co and Hy's, but it has its place
Every episode you say "I hear great things" about 10 times...
Lol They appently have a handful of US locations. Unfortunately they are so far away from me. Inmight aswell go to Canada! Id like to try this place though.
Yeah Canada is actually way closer for me than the nearest US location lol
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
UA eats here I’m UA 😬😅👋
I think 💬 there is a word for my phobia of pink raw meat. Scary and primitive.
You Rock UA Let's Eat! Hope your dinner, live right now, isn't as jacked up as Chart House or wherever you got the wayy overdone mean and crappy bread Love life, my friend
You are correct. It was the Chart House inside the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City
didn't get the 'keg potato' =/
They have bone in NY strip from time to time, it's one of their best. My go to is the bone in ribeye. You have to try that next time.
Go Eagles.
Go birds!!!
I have had steak at the Keg a few times and I have never been impressed. It is a B- in my books. A meh.
well I'm sorry but UA' P-Rib looked grey and dry Not What thos Man'd ordered!!
Also he’s not steak expert! Just a regular guy eating steak.
Also is anyone ever an "expert?" Taste is totally subjective
