Rwanda-backed M23 rebels have vowed to march towards DR Congo's capital Kinshasa after making advances in the mineral-rich east. They have taken control of Goma, the capital of North Kivu province and are just 80 kilometres away from Bukavu, the capital of South Kivu province. The US President Donald Trump has now spoken and called it a very serious problem. Rwanda has defended its support to Tutsi-led M23 rebels, slamming the international criticism. Rwanda has been accused of seeking to profit from the DRC's eastern region rich in minerals that are used in global electronics. Decades-long fighting has left mineral-rich DR Congo and one of the largest nations in Africa, below the global poverty line average. The Congolese army is also considered unprofessional and ill-equipped in front of the m23 rebels and Rwandan forces. Is the fall of Kinshasa near?
