It's a masterpiece,but it's not about snatching someone's place or any horror content, it shows the heartache, depression,abuse and mental state of a girl who was mistreated by her own mother because of her strong urge of having a son to carry forward her heritage of music , that she believes a girl could never do. It was all the struggle to get in the eyes of her mother and to get her love , and all about the guilt she feels for that adopted son
Exactly! Was looking for this critique. I don't know why is she again and again saying horror film. It's Terribly painful and relatable to girls going through a mother-daughter sourness.

You didn't understand the movie. It's not about a koyal. The horrors are about trauma, mental health, hallucinations and the toxic sexism and sexual abuse in the film that contributes to the characters decline, in addition to her childhood trauma. That's the horror and beauty all together in one place.
And the real horror is that everything shown in the film is what actually happens to humans. The neglect is real. The abuse is real. The falling apart is very real and happening all around us, but we don't wanna talk about it. So Anvita, in her own words, fills it with sublime music and beauty, to make it watchable and loveable, and she hopes that we talk about the real trauma around us too.

1:03 this is not a ghost , it is her hallucinations. Her dead brother keeps occurring to her and she is able to see him due to her guilt and ptsd. This is exactly what the movie was trying to portray, not a ghost

Ghost is not always literal. It's our past (Bhoot, vartman, bhavishya waala bhoot)... It's basically her horrific past that keeps haunting her.

The symbolism of labyrinth and demon statues throughout the movie gave me chills down my spine. Tripti was phenomenal as always. And the beautiful music is continuously haunting me these days. A fine piece of art, indeed.

Is it ultra feminine? She is actually going against that idea in the movie. She is showing flawed, broken souls and they are goddesses. She is vulnerable, and also a fighter and capable of a lot of evil coming from trauma.

Best Psychological thriller movie. Watched it today. More importantly the message it puts out is the key. Toxic relationships and child abuse aur uska mental health pr kya effect hota hai ye dikhaya hai. Tripti did a phenomenal job. Hats off.

This movie is based on singing and jealousy. It's about depression, guilt, anxiety, fear, suicidal thoughts, regret, sadness, physical harassment at the workplace, and a toxic mother-daughter relationship. Overall it's a nice movie. The songs are really awesome.
Wish it was released in theatre even with limited prints, the sets and 🎥 are brilliant.
EXCELLENT Movie.... Its like a poetry , you are in different world for two hours.. Perfect Cinematography, every frame is like art and painting.. the colours, visuals are soothing to eyes and story is heart wrenching... DON'T MISS this cinematic MASTERPIECE..

I love how consistent and yet so different every episode is:
its not into horror at all, its about a mother daughter relationship and the pain/depression/trauma of being dejected by own mother where you crave for most amount of love, the music is going to take you to another world, brilliant piece of work by Amit Trivedi and the cinematographer

i am pretty excited to see babil , and also tripti as well but more excited to babil.
This movie doesn't have any ghost element in it rather the protagonist experiences hallucination. A common symptom of Psychosis (includes those mental illnesses where the person lose touch with reality and the person is prone to commit suicide).
So sad ,this masterpiece doesn't get much recognition as other movies get ,it was really a masterpiece!
This makes me optimistic about how well I would do as a chef.
