This is going to sound weird, but my favorite hook is a 4.0mm hook that came in a really bad amigurumi kit 😂 So you can’t find it anywhere but it has great drag and I especially love using it for double crochet

Love these hooks. While I really like furls and clover I really like the prom better. So much cheaper for the price you get a lot more. I bought all the sizes and with coupon they were even cheaper. So worth the money your hand and wrist will love them. People have complained about the, being long but it help with the hand fatigue. Everyone has their favorites, I was really impressed when I first tried the, and haven’t been disappointed.

I bought these recently, they are labeled in mm now, I guess they listened to consumers like you , thanks!

Interesting! What country did you buy them from if you dont mind me asking? I ordered mine off amazon, a US seller. Maybe that's why 🤔

The Prym hooks I just got came with the millimeter measurement on the handle, rather than the letter, so maybe others complained as well! My favorites are the Clover Amour hooks, which are considered hybrids. I bought my first one with a 40% coupon from either JoAnn or Michael's.

Always was Susan Bates. Had them for years. Had some made with Fumo clay for better handle grip. But……Hobby Lobby had the yarnology and I am in love with them. Lightweight, in line and adorable with multicolored on handles. Also label sizes are done right. And cheap enough to throw in a bag and have duplicates if needed.

I just bought a Prym hook in Portugal, and the hook size was in millimeters. I guess being in Europe, you're more likely to find this. I was looking for an ergonomic in-line hook. I did not know theses are considered in-line. I am happy about that since I prefer the in-line hooks. I love my Susan Bates that I have had for years. I'm glad I saw your video. I en enjoyed it. Thanks

Oh my goodness, I’ve had that Prym 7 for so long thinking it was a mislabeled or way too small 7mm. When I ordered it for pickup at Joanns, it was listed as a 7mm. I’ve been wondering what size it really is this entire time. I never would’ve known as I don’t have the rest of the hooks, just this one I got to test out the hook. Facepalm! Thank you for the knowledge!

My favorite are Susan Bates aluminum hooks and Clover hooks/all sizes. For both brands. Love and light to you and yours! Oh Happy Day! 💖🌟🦅🦋😻🌀

Thank you for this review. I’ve considered these but I just can’t use any hook that has a rubber or silicone grip. It just feels too “sticky” in my hand. So I’ll be sticking (no pun intended 😂) with my Furls hooks. 😎

I have a full set of the Prym. I like them. I even like the slight squeak they make when using them. :D I got scolded about this by my yarning group. :D LOL! But everyone like what they like. I agree about the sizing. However, they are German and that part of the world go by letters instead of numbers. Maybe one day they will get with the program and put conversion sizing on their hooks... and maybe not? It's still better than Hobby Lobby Luxury Hooks. You can't even see their sizing without strong readers or a magnifying glass. :/ My favorite hooks are the old Susan Bates. But here lately, I've been using my Clovers and Furls. Thanks for the Review. :)

That’s funny, that you see those beautiful hooks is too bright, like something kids would like. I find them gorgeous I love bright colors that that was one of the things that attracted me to these hooks, which I have not ordered yet. I love those beautiful warm colors. I did order one hug that will come tomorrow just to see if I would like it.I don’t like grown-up colors I like the colors, and I am 80 years old, actually 80 1/2 by this time. My birthday was on September 11, 2023.

I do like the hooks but totally agree with your review. Especially the way the size is marked. Very confusing for me because I am used to mm and The numbers and a couple of the hooks are confusing to me. I usually always use clover amour. I can crochet the fastest and easiest with them. Thanks for the review!

Thanks for the review. I was considering getting one of these, because although I love Furls Hooks, they tend to be very pricey for me to import into Canada. I don't like that the Pyrm don't have the mm size on the hook, so no to the Prym hooks for me. I personally prefer in-line hooks as well. I have watched a few reviews on the Ommi ergonomic hooks, and they seem to be comparable to the Furls but not as pricey. So, you should check those out. Cinnamon Stitches here on RUclips does a good review of the Ommi vs Furls.

I agree about asusan Bates hooks. I haven't tried Prym, but because I crochet with a pencil grip, I find Furls uncomfortable. I bought the Susan Bates cushion grips (3 in a pkt) and just insert my regular Susan Bates hooks into them.

  • @bettinajahn6648

Thank you for the review, I already tried 2 of them. 3,5 and 4,5 mm.
They are not comfortable for me as I have a pencil-grip. So my fingers position diferently....
Also the plastic does not glide and I lose my speed...
I would like to try the Susan Bates if they are available in Europe. The FURLS are not available.... (I am German, living in Majorca).
The fastest hook for me is the japanese CLOVER, bronce aluminium (which glides through the yarn like crazy - hence the speed). The grip is quite ergonomic, plastic with rubber.
I crochet only with yarns up to DK weight so bambu inline hooks for example give me cramps because they are so thin......

I just bought one of these hooks and feel exactly the same! However it's also the first hook that I've ever split yarn with while working.
Dream Hook - The brushed metal body and head of a clover hook, the handle of the Prym, and the looks of a Furls hook. But the transition between metal and handle should be seamless so the yarn can still slip down.

I started learning to crochet, I got the Boye crochet kit from Walmart. That was until the rubber part start moving around hook. I look at Hobby Lobby hooks. The Hobby Lobby hooks come in US 5/5mm and a US I / 5.5 plus other size. The H/ I are my go to and I bought all the other size too. I was disappointed that Prym hooks didn't have I / 5.5 in prym Brand. I still use Hobby Lobby hooks alone with some furl. I now use Dollars Tree crochet hook for most of my projects. I can say again I love the Hobby lobby own brand of crochet and use its when needed.

I recently bought one of these and it was ok but I have a high grip so the Clover gold ones are better for me, but I'd prefer a wider handle tbh.
Also, I prefer a metal hook as the plastic has less glide

    Great review..
I've seen some say they can break on you, especially the smaller ones, without even using much pressure. That's subjective but was enough to make me hold off from buying, especially given the premium pricing

I am not a fan of inline hooks and I prefer really am a die hard fan of the pink tulip hooks I enjoyed your video. I do own the cushioned Susan bates hooks but the are too long and not enough cushion on the handle. Sorry for a bad review on the hooks but its my honest opinion.

I adore Susan Bates hooks, they’re what I learned to crochet with. But I find they can be too short. Prym hooks are longer, but not as smooth. Herein lies my dilemma.

Yes I don’t understand why the decided to change to letters and not just keep millimeters. I do think this is just a North American US thing because you can find them marked with millimeters.

The prym ergonomic hooks are just too sticky to work with, whenever i try to use it its not really user friendly, unless it takes time for it to not become sticky and just glide along the stitches over time maybe? But I’ve been using the aluminum hooks and prefer that much more, i bought the 2 sets of prym hooks sizes large and small sets, but unfortunately used none of them as I don’t reach for them at all.

I don’t really like these hooks. Does she have this too long, and it just feels weird in my hands. I prefer my toilet and clovers.
