Alfie you really do do great work. There is a gem of a video to be done on Middlesbrough, either the leagues appallingly unfair and unprecedented treatment of Middlesbrough when it was in virtual liquidation in the old 3rd division and their climb to the top league in 3 seasons in '86 or the Premier leagues malfeasance in the 3 point docking after giving Middlesborough permission to call off the Blackburn game and the media's cowardly and sneaky cover up of the truth in '96 as well as deeply suspicious incompetence of referees during that campaign. I genuinely think that if the facts became known there would be MASSIVE interest in exactly how despicabley behaved the Premier league were. I still find it deeply suspicious that no journalist has ever dug into this or presented Middlesbroughs side of the story. The media and the publics gullibility in thinking Bryan Robson and Steve Gibson would just decide to call off a game and not even informing Blackburn AS FUCKING IF. The 2 together plus a couple of other strange occurrences would be a truly dynamite story.

I'm gonna put in another request for a hypothetical starting XI for the East African Federation, a proposed federation (big surprise there) of Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. None of them are exactly what you'd call powerhouse footballing nations, with the exception of the DRC, but with plenty of players from those nationalities in the French and German leagues there's bound to be some diamonds in the rough. I did actually send Alfie a Twitter DM detailing my own attempt at an EAF first team, complete with a kit design and a subs bench, but since that didn't get a response I can only assume it got lost in the post. It's not like he'd ignore an unsolicited private message about putting together a national football team for a country that doesn't exist, right? Right?
This is request number 13; calling it a streak feels a little disingenuous considering I miss days a lot of the time due to my health. I intend to go for as long as I can until Alfie either makes the video or tells me to bugger off. I'm sure you have your own opinions about which is more likely. =]

Will Still is an inspiring story, but I really hope he stays at Reims for a bit longer and doesn’t rush to the big time too soon. I have a fear that this could end up the way Andre Villas Boas did, and the FM angle means a certain element of the English media would always think he’s unqualified. Was Villas Boas overrated? Or just aggressively rushed into jobs he wasn’t ready for with too much pressure and he never truly recovered?

Proper comment now: I can't help but wonder if Still's style of management would respond well to a higher bank balance at a superclub in the European leagues. To me, it feels like his style is at its best when working with people who are just as hungry and scrappy as he is; I don't know how well that approach would transfer to men earning six figures a week who have been around the game forever and don't think they need to learn from someone younger than the first-team's keeper.

@@johnwhittaker311 That's a double-edged sword. His stock is high right now and he presumably won't have his top scorer in Balogun next season. We've all seen what not having a reliable striker does to managers and otherwise good teams. Might be an argument to take up an offer if one comes. I'd like to see him repay Reims' faith in him though, stay for a while and do great things with them. Took serious intelligence to identify and track him and then tremendous moxie to appoint him.

Alfie, off topic, sorry. I'm trying to get hold of your book but there's no digital version available, inc Amazon. I was at primary school in Tiptree in '66-'72 and am sure Neil Franklin was our neighbour, playing footie with his 2 sons and getting coaching sessions on Saturdays at our school. My parents don't believe me. Did he live in Tiptree (while or after managing Colchester) and have 2 sons born early '60s, or have I hallucinated that? :-)

I love the comments to this video! However, I do feel that they are missing a few things:
Will Still has led Reims to an 19-game unbeaten run in all competitions. At 30 years old, he's the youngest manager in Europe's top five leagues. Reims pay a £22,000 fine each time Still manages because he doesn't have his UEFA Pro Licence. He also plied his trade on Football Manager.

No matter where Stade de Reims will end up finishing this season, Will Still will still be called Will Still.

He lost to Marseille. Football manager can only take you so far. Shame there's not a corner exploit for real life football.
