I'm not sure what the specs are on the BTR 2 but we did a TSP stage 2 or 3? on an LS3 stick car with 2 in long tubes and a 3-in true duals, couple other small bolt ons and it made 490tire. Same deal it was very drivable and had a great linear curve. My guess is it's probably nearly the same cam because the kit came with BTR push rods, springs and trunions. Good stuff Kenny.

@@peterganucheau6372 The TSP Stage 2 is a bigger cam than the BTR Stage 2 V2 so yeah, it's probably gonna make a bit more peak hp at the expense of mid range torque and "driveability".
The BTR 2 is what I ran in my ls3 c6 m6. It’s mainly a mountain/track day car, but still absolutely hauls and drives great. Maintains great torque for the switch backs of the mountains around me, and absolutely destroyed a friends 500rwhp supercharged 3v mustang. Not overly hard on the valve train and sounds as good as any other cam. I don’t understand going to something as aggressive as the BTR stage 4 or other similar cams, an extra 10-15rwhp and sacrifice a lot of driveability, and must harder on the valve train.
I have a 87 Iroc-z, GM LS3 crate engine, Tremec Magun F 6speed close ratio, QP 9” w/4.11’s, black heart 2.5” duals and been doing research. It seems to me the stage 2 would be the best choice all around. I like the idle of the btr 3 but seems like it’d loose some low end torque. This is to be a weekend driver. I also live in CT which has lots of backroads and hills. Thanks for the input. I also been looking into the SpinMonster specs (230/234 114 LSA +1) which is close in specs, but I’d have to have it ground. Thoughts on the BTR stage 3? Randy
@@Gen01Lee the 3 is a soggier version of the 2. The exhaust and tuning will dictate the sound more than just a few degrees of duration added. You could make a “stage 1 truck cam” sound similar to a “stage 3 car cam” with the same exhaust and a little tuning. I absolutely hate the whole stage thing. But it makes it easier to reference a camshaft.
@@Gen01Lee the cam sound mostly comes from the tune and idle revs. My friend has a c6 gs with a BTR 3 and I have a c6 ls3 BTR 2. They sound about identical.

I'm leaning towards the btr ls3 s2 in my 418 unless I can decide the valve events for the v2 are better. Looking for something for autox & hpde... great torque at low 3000rpm to great hp that carries well above 6200, endurance grind and daily driver.
The Stage 2 V2 (which is also called the Red Hot cam) has almost the exact same power curve/torque as this V1 but makes 20 hp more up top with back to back testing.
Love the detail breakdown of this cam..I jus picked up my 443 lsx from the machine shop and looking for a good head and cam combo for it..would like a custom cam wit the type drivability, linesr torque curve and peak as this cam does for the ls3 ..can you make that happen for me brother 🔥

If you are happy with it. That is all that matters. But the stroke does add things to the equation that the ls3 cam dosent have. The ivo/ivc evo/evc is slight different because if the 4” stroke.

For a cam this size springs and pushrods are a must. Lifters are a choice if it is a manual car but this was an automatic so all 16 lifters were replaced to get rid of the DOD. All of the common parts
What is your opinion on this cam vs the btr red hot? Looking for something that makes good power but is drivable and sounds badass. Also down the road doing a procharger possibly. Seems like a better bang for the buck than heads.
@@stangindude99as he said the stg2, redhot and old pds stage 2 were all the same cam. The new stage 2 v2 looks to be same duration as the redhot but little more lift and tighter lsa. Not sure on exhaust duration since they don’t tell that. My m6 ls3 vette just put down 465hp/437tq just redhot, 2” headers, stock intake attack blue filter. And now I know junk tune too. I was shocked. About to rip into it through the winter to do some other things but might slap the new v2 in there since I’ll already have the timing set off. We will see. Spring time it’ll be back on the dyno and getting a good tune. Hoping to touch 500 but dyno numbers are just a number.

It is right on btr’s website. Their ls3 stage 2. 3.45’s are fine. Guys use them with oem converters. I’m a fan of doing a 3,200-3,600. They really rip!

I'm confused by the VVT debate what do you think? I don't know the full specs of the car in this video but last year I got the custom grind BTR cam with I think is like a stage 2.5, with longtube headers, and intake and I only got 458whp on 91 octane. Not sure why it's lower than the car in this vid. Tuning was done at a speedshop so I would think they know what they're doing.
Assuming my 4.070" 12.5:1 pistons ever come in, would you think a BTR LS3 Stage 4 cam in a 3,000lb stick shift car would be less of a bad option compared to the Stage 2 than it is in a factory weight Camaro?

I’m not a fan of throwing parts at vehicles and many will disagree. If it has good oil pressure and it was my car I’d absolutely run it with no problem. But if it was a customer car I would do as directed by them.

Your also forgetting that the L99 has 10.3 compression vs the 10.7 for the LS3 and I'm not arguing that the stick car doesn't makes more power than a automatic equipped car but l think and l could be wrong a .4 increase in compression should give you 10-15 more horsepower on the same setup only difference is compression 10.3 vs 10.7

LS engines like higher stall converters l have a 2011 Camaro SS with a more mild LS3 495 horsepower crate engine with a LS3 hot camshaft like l said it's much more mild than this camshaft on this car but it has a Circle D 4200rpm stall converter throttle response is wicked at any speed with this camshaft l think you'd need at least a 3200rpm stall a 3800 would be better and a 4200 would be even better if your running the stock 3.27 gears with a 6L80e transmission the converter will lockup when your street driving or cruising in 5 gear at about 40-45 miles a hour at part throttle and will be slightly spongy below 40-45mph and will need to turn 2700- 3000rpm below 45mph to move with traffic but it's not terrible the car will have unbelievable throttle response at any speed this cam without a stall converter will be sluggish until 3000rpm and l don't think you'll be happy with it pretty sure this cam without a stall converter will make your car slower than stock 0-40mph with little throttle response until over 40mph

Just wondering cause mine sounds much more tame. I have hp tuners and tuned my own. Seems to struggle to maintain a stable idle. I noticed when you add chop it actually seems to idle more consistent

Absolutely! I do a ton of these. Overlay the graphs and just go jeeze. It’s not worth it.

I haven’t had on on this Dyno yet. I’d say it isn’t too far off. I like the torque max cams. I use them in quite a bit if cathedral stuff

Yea that would be fun. You have way less weight. More compression.

It doesn't like to cruise under 1500 rpm it bucks haven't Figured out how to tune that out with the hp tuner

A bit much for a full size. But if it had a 3,200 or so converter it would get down.

Speed engineering cars. Kooks high flow cars. Can’t remember what mufflers were on it as we didn’t install them.

The ls2 would greatly vary on the rest of the mods/stall converter/intended use etc

How about the stage one, who does it match up.
The old version stage 1 was about 24 rwhp behind and 300 less rpm.
The new one. The V2 is badass! Almost identical. Within 5 horse!

Was going to go the way of a stage 1 cam for the drivability but this vid calmed my drivability fears of a stage 2. The BTR stage 2 V1 is only $300 now days.

Your also forgetting that the L99 has 10.3 compression vs the 10.7 for the LS3 and I'm not arguing that the stick car doesn't makes more power than a automatic equipped car but l think and l could be wrong a .4 increase in compression should give you 10-15 more horsepower on the same setup only difference is compression 10.3 vs 10.7
For sure. A little to be had in the compression as well. Lighter intake valves which show a little better high rpm control in the ls3 as well
Are the intake valve different between the l99 and the ls3, I have the l99 doing did delete and cam can’t I just put the lighter valve?
It does have the same pistons I’m pretty sure
The ls3 has a hollow stem valve and lighter.
The ls3 has a flat top where the l99 had a valve relief.
Otherwise the cam is the difference

You can run any cam with a stock converter.
I wouldn’t choose too.
I’d choose a converter before I even chose a camshaft.
LS engines like higher stall converters l have a 2011 Camaro SS with a more mild LS3 495 horsepower crate engine with a LS3 hot camshaft like l said it's much more mild than this camshaft on this car but it has a Circle D 4200rpm stall converter throttle response is wicked at any speed with this camshaft l think you'd need at least a 3200rpm stall a 3800 would be better and a 4200 would be even better if your running the stock 3.27 gears with a 6L80e transmission the converter will lockup when your street driving or cruising in 5 gear at about 40-45 miles a hour at part throttle and will be slightly spongy below 40-45mph and will need to turn 2700- 3000rpm below 45mph to move with traffic but it's not terrible the car will have unbelievable throttle response at any speed this cam without a stall converter will be sluggish until 3000rpm and l don't think you'll be happy with it pretty sure this cam without a stall converter will make your car slower than stock 0-40mph with little throttle response until over 40mph

Their stage 1 is incredible in comparison to their old one.
The v2 is very similar but makes more top end power. So it’s a win win.
