What exactly is it that GMK offers, that keeps people spending their money with them and not any other keycap company, especially ones with faster turn around times, or ones that keep inventory in stock?
they are nice quality, but ive only ever bought some when they were on sale. otherwise, way too much for some plastic teetering at the price of a small creators alu keyboard of good - excellent quality
What they said hahaha Nowadays there are other options that are getting quite good, but back in the day, they were the main manufacturers of quality keycaps with the best feel, sound and color. I think for most people, you probably won't be able to tell or care enough to only buy GMK, but there are connoisseurs that swear by them. My personal opinion is to just stick with what you are comfortable with and don't try to overextend your budget just to get a set, especially if you don't find GMK keycaps to be that much better than the competition.
I'm not super familiar with the Thailand mechanical keyboard scene, but I did see this post on the Mechanical Keyboards subreddit: www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/wiki/thailand_shopping_guide/ I think a lot of the times they tend to have a vendor for the SEA region rather than Thailand specifically.
Sometimes they come up with something new that I really like, but a lot of stuff tends to be quite similar. There's only so many unique color combos before you run out hahaha
Group buys.... Cause why let companies take on the risk of making correct amount of things. Hey let's group buy, why don't we take on some risk instead of companies.
Group buys aren't the best, but otherwise we're left with the companies picking and choosing what gets made almost exclusively. The whole point of GBs originally was for individuals with cool ideas or concepts to get funding for a project and get it made and into people hands. I'm not simping for GBs here. I've been burned by a few. But I think it's important to remember all the pieces here. Some of the cool projects we've gotten wouldn't be possible without them. Not everyone who designs a set or a board knows how to manage logistics, and not every cool project will have enough people to get things made, stored and shipped without help from vendors. We've had independent people mismanage funds and projects just as badly as these businesses and it's easy to forget that.
@@zivens.2407 Thanks for writing this thoughtful reply! I think you covered it perfectly. The mechanical keyboard hobby blew up during the pandemic, but before then, it was quite niche and many people don't have the capital to fund a whole project. When you're manufacturing at this small scale, price per unit is quite expensive so group buy was the method used most often to support these projects. Unfortunately, it's a method that relies on the group buy runner to make good decisions, and we've seen many of these vendors/designers not live up to those expectations or be morally bankrupt. Like you mentioned, running a group buy sounds easy on paper until you start diving into the specifics. That being said, I've seen more and more vendors lean towards the in-stock model which I think is good for the hobby. It's easier to get a quick resolution if something goes wrong and also easier to perform a chargeback if you don't get the product. A lot of more niche projects still rely on group buy, but if you want to avoid that completely, I think there's enough cool stuff out there that will allow you to build a sick keyboard without this risk.

I am unwritten
Can't read my mind
I'm undefined
I'm just beginning
The pen's in my hand
Ending unplanned
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
Oh, oh, oh
I break tradition
Sometimes my tries are outside the lines
We've been conditioned to not make mistakes
But I can't live that way
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open

No problem! I think that both look nice, but I think that the Reverie's design is better as well
Thanks as always. Damn the Osidian keyboard seems cool but I have too many keyboards already TwT
Yeah I got too many keyboards at this point as well. At this point, I'm buying less and less and just admiring from afar 😀
@@kirin_ A smart way to go about it for sure. Man this hobby is a money pit...
Kyubi also already have a stock sells and plan to start the GB on 9/10
Thanks! I saw the Discord update so I'll add it to the community post that I will be starting again

Sounds better. Feels better. Looks better.
There are videos out there explaining it if you really want to know. You can just type why is gmk so expensive into the search bar and find answers
What they said hahaha

5:36 where is the 8° typing angle? the keyboard is just laying flat so it should be 0
ah dang it mb. Mistake on my part. I usually copy subtitle portions and edit them but missed out on this one 😥
Nice vid mate
Thanks!
6:15 isnt that a 60%??
Yeah I'm screwed up a little more than usual for this video. Apologies
Any Thailand based group buy organisers here?
