As a Brit living in Switzerland I can definitely vouch for the benefit of winter tyres - they have three times the grip in snow. Most of the vehicles sliding around at ski resorts are British Land Rovers with the wrong tyres - the Swiss laugh at them. If you choose the tyres carefully you can get winter tyres that are fine to drive on all year and don't wear out in the summer heat. I have done this for years and it saves having two sets of wheels. Then winter tyres aren't more expensive than summer ones.
As a Swiss I agree completely with your comment. Honestly I'm really surprised they aren't mandatory in winter here (although you can have a fine and insurance problems after an accident in winter if they discover you didn't have them).
I have those adaptable all season tires. Expensive but worth it, and not having to switch tires out twice a year makes the higher cost worth it. I live in the Rocky Mountains, and Winter tires are definitely necessary.
I'm currently keeping myself at home bc I'm sick and the way I RUSHED off to grab a hot chocolate to sit all cosy and watch this new vlog when I saw it pop up on my feed - your videos are so charming! Your personality is so refreshing and uplifting, it's always an absolute joy whenever I see a new upload from you 💜
If you’re going to travel in winter where there is ice and snow , maybe try a set of tire chains at least for the back tires… really work great and come on and off fairly easily and quickly… love your videos… great editing
And yes, they're cheaper than 4 studded snows. They're actually mandatory in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S., I discovered one ski trip day into the Cascades. Get ones that fit! 😂🙉🙉🙉🙉
Hi Josie, I just had to say - I absolutely love your videos! Every time a new one drops, I’m eagerly waiting like a kid on Christmas morning. Your storytelling is mesmerizing, and the editing is flawless. Thank you for all the joy and laughter you bring into our lives - please keep uploading, because your content is a gift! Please be safe out there in the snow. :)
You are living my dream. We had a motorhome. Gave it up for a caravan. One of my regrets. Now have neither as we’re in our 70’s and husband in ill health. But we have wonderful memories and watching your beautiful travel videos is pure joy. Enjoy every moment. X
I would love to see a video about how you dump waste, and fill up your water tanks, park up, like all the realities of vanlife but in the UK!! In American videos they seem to have these amenities free everywhere, I have so many questions about the logistics of vanlife in the UK
My heating system broke two weeks ago and it's the middle of Danish winter with proper freezing temperatures. The last two weeks Ive been more cold than I've ever been before and grown used to seeing my own breath while indoors. But something absolutely magical has happened as well: for the first time in his 4 year old life, my dog is snuggling with me on the couch 😭 He is so not a snuggly dog and has now grown into a snuggle bunny and my personal heating and pressre blanket. Ive also learned why Vikings invented such strong alcohol... it fuels the inner furnice and makes you numb to the cold 😂 That being said I am so looking forward to my new heating system being installed in a few days. Not wearing gloves and 5 layers of clothing indoors is going to be glorious.
As a Norwegian, yes! Use winter tires. Many people fall out of the road if they don’t use it at winter time, and also try pressing the break to test and see how slippery it is :)
If your goal is to make videos that are magical, you have far surpassed all expectations. The aesthetics, the storytelling, and the music make your videos so peaceful and beautiful. Thank you. And I hope you had a marvelous Christmas! 🎄
Winter has barely begun!!! Go south now!! You haven't even seen winter yet and no snow tires is a breaking point! Love your van, your videos and you. Please make a safe decision!!
Question for your possible Q&A: What are your top tips for vanlife and your top tips for starting a RUclips channel ( I love your videos so much, please keep posting Josie!!❤)
I just finished bing watching all of Josie’s videos! The thing I love most, besides the scenery and gorgeous decor of Bo, is Josie’s amazing personality, the videos are super entertaining and informative. The fact she did all this on her own, with very little help is very inspiring! I think this channel is really going to grow. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us all Josie! 🥰
Josie... i absolutely hate that youre driving around without winter tires. do you have a platform we can donate to so you can safely travel while giving us this great content? Its a fair trade, we help get you tires and you get to keep SAFELY shooting footage for us.
@Shi-shy_Janae Aww i didnt mean it to come off harsh. You're exactly right, the word hate is pretty brutal. lets just say I REALLY don't like shes vulnerable on the icey roads. lol. ❤
Absolutely love your videos. I don’t know why it took this one so long to show up in my feed… Your photography is gorgeous, thank you for showing us places we will likely never be able to visit. Scotland looks amazing. I have to say you are a very talented videographer. I think you could do the editing (and whatever else you do, I really have no idea) professionally. Your videos are always entertaining and seem to be very well produced. Looking forward to wherever you take us in the future 💕
To the person reading this, may every step you take lead you closer to success, may love surround you, health uplift you, and happiness brighten your days
Plastic clear window film. Window winterisation Insulation kit. Tear resistant heat shrink window film...works wonders. Keeps the heat in and zero condensation. It's popular on single glazed windows in narrow boats also.
Bo is truly the cutest and most personalized, yet most functional van I've seen yet! Your life definitely has its ups and downs but it looks so beautiful 😍Hats off to you Josie!💜
Found your channel. So very grateful I did and now will follow u and Winnie on your adventures. The best bit about subscribing is that I get to see your van very regularly which is an absolute pleasure.
This was the perfect video to see tonight. Josie and Winnie, two beautiful souls, *"embracing"* the dark, cold winter days, have reminded me that every day is indeed worth the trials and tribulations. And, in fact, *can* be beautiful and fun... especially when you've got what makes you happy, including, a Winnie of your own. 🥰
Hi Josie & Winnie. I’ve literally just binge watched every single second of your build and start of your adventures. And I’m in LOVE ♥️ With You, Winnie, Bo and every single moment you’ve had on the road. I live with depression every day and your videos have given me a real boost, thanks to your beautiful smile, sunny personality and zest for life. So your videos, whenever they come, are now part of my Prescription.💊🏨 Keep up the content Josie, you are a natural in front and behind the camera. In fact......I foresee a TV career.😁 Sending much love to You, Winnie and Bo.😊♥️
It feels so surreal, travelling with u on ur little magical bus… And not to forget our best traveller friend Winnie… It takes courage for what u do for ur happiness. Always stay safe and enjoy the journey with every changing breathtaking views from the bedroom✨🧚♀️
Your channel is my absolute favorite to watch. The way its filmed, the small details of your build that you show always end up being SO clever.. the coziness.. the freedom.. the resourcefulness.. Just fascinating. I've made three friends watch the tour video 🤣Can't wait for a new upload!
The plumbing problem is a puzzler. Those foam insulation tubes won't suffice alone, I'm fairly certain. There's electric heater tape that can wrap the pipes, in addition to the foam tubes, but - electricity. I'm quite handy, yet stumped so far on this one. If I think of something, I'll be back....
@ just asked chatgpt, it recommended a pretty cool thing. You can get 12v heating pads specifically made for water tanks. Would love to see how that would work
I just found you and I’m glad I did. I’m going through a rough time of feeling trapped and depressed th3 thought of living in a van and traveling around sounds so amazing and your videos put a smile on my face
I am glad you took your time and were cautious driving in that dusting of snow. That stuff is slick and dangerous. Let us know when you put on your winter tires!
ok so basically im rewatching the video over and over to help you get more views and hopefully little more money,so you can buy winter tires 😂 Also i got my driving license a year ago but im to anxious to drive so i’ve never almost used it… i’ve started following you cause your channel makes me want to live your life at least a bit,so it gives me the will to finally learn how to drive for good with no anxiety!!! hope it will help both of us 🧚🏻♀️🍀
My wife was the same as you, but forced herself to drive regularly and now it's no big deal for her. She didn't want to be like some of her friends who got a licence and then were too scared to use it. My guess is, like her, you're a much better driver than you think you are.
Aww thankyou for watching my video over and over !! Ahaha that’s very kind 😍 and also congratulations on your driving test ! Everything new is always scary ! I was sooo scared about driving my bus around and first (I still am sometimes) but it does get easier (promise ☺️) just got to keep going 🙌🙌💕
You are so brave to drive these ‘dusty’ popsicle Scottish narrow roads with your van 🎉🎉🎉 What a great idea to host a January Q&A. I would love to here your life wishes for the few years ahead of you. Or perhaps you haven’t got one and living in the short run and in the moment? Or maybe both? Beautifully said how you experience your van life as a life lesson, because it truly is so enriching, including the challenges off course !❤ Love your sense of humor and inclusivity in your videos. Always on point and very entertaining. Until next year ❣️
Hello! My name is Tiffany and I live in the Caribbean, Anguilla to be exact. I decided to subscribe to you because your content is different and refreshing. Thank you for giving RUclips a try!
Oh my God, I laughed so hard at the gas station dummy hahahaha we always try to do that here in Brazil, but I don't think we'll ever manage without this jacket hahahahahah I'm rooting for your heating system, your batteries and your water! I'm loving seeing everything. Happy New Year, Josie! 💖 Hugs to you and Winnie, the princess 👸
I hope you and Miss Winnie had a nice adventurous Holiday. Thank you so much for showing this Florida girl Scotland, such a beautiful country. Safe travels!
I welcome you to Norway, but a little warning if you visit in the winter: If you visit south of Norway, from Oslo to Kristiansand, winter tires are fine. But in the north it can be so icy that spiked tires are the only tires you should use.
I so enjoyed the ride with you on surviving your first winter Van-living in Scotland. Ok, so you hit a few bumps along the way (...trying to keep the "road-trip" metaphors consistent...) regarding the winter tires, frozen water pipes, and tech issues. But the "bumps" are what make it an adventure, right? I mean, you get really good at figuring out ways to make things work--which develops your self-reliance and really builds confidence. Not to mention the memorable time you'll look back on and treasure always! Thanks for letting me join the ride--the views from your bedroom windows are spectacular!! Hope your Christmas was toasty, roasty and bright!
Have to agree with everyone ... another brilliant creation from you and Winnie ... your editing skills are off the scale and the best I've seen on you tube by a country mile ...... looks like your having a ball ❤🎉... ps Merry Christmas
Josie, I can’t get enough of that van life journey of yours. Definitely the balance between real experience and the glamorous narrative makes me get hooked. I believe you’re an ingenuously good storyteller. I can’t wait till next video 🫶🏼
They have heated throws as well. I like them because they’re big enough to cover you but you don’t have all the excess blanket . Or even just regular throws. I love them and sleep under 3. Thank you for the video Josie. Since I’m not a master of Instagram I have to wait until you post on RUclips but it’s definitely worth the wait. Really love your van. Be safe and warm in Scotland! God bless!
Hey Josie, We love the van, the aesthetic and the style of your videos. We'd really love to see more of your travelling about and showing us where you've visited and what you get up to.
I needed this video so much! Thank you. I'm now living alone and I'm relearning to be self-sufficient. I admire the way you deal with your struggles, figure things out and make mistakes and regret past decisions. And you just go on and enjoy the rest. That's very inspiring! I'll try to see the other lighter side of things. Living alone can be fun even in winter! Question for the QnA: Do you make friends with people you meet at camps? Do they suggest travelling together? Would you consider it?
Loooved this video Josie! 05:12 was such a throwback for us, we parked there in the summer! Yes to window vacs, they're a game changer! And we switched to a 4G router when we spent 6 months in the UK because Starlink was eating up all of our battery as well, we never looked back :)
This is my first Winter offgrid in my rustic Airstream. Staying warm and learning the ebbs and flows of offgridding the seasons. I hope your cute little setup is blessed with warms and cozies.
I came across a video of yours by chance and now I love your channel and storytelling and your approach to vanlife and to life in general. You should be super proud of your build and how fairytale like and cozy it looks, summer and winter. I am looking forward to the Q&A. My question would be about budgeting from season to season.
I love watching your videos! Van/bus life has always been a big dream of mine and seeing your honesty with the ups and downs has been so informative! I also have a question for your Q and A: What things about bus life do you regret and wish you had done differently (whether that's related to the build or everyday life), and what decisions are you glad you made? good luck to both you and Winnie!
im a us northerner so dont know how much winter street cred I get but, I was always taught: drive like grandma is in the back seat holding chili! no sharp breaking or sharp turning or blasting the accelerator. I would check some videos out on winter driving if you aren't familiar. love the van setup!!
Fantastic video. You have a wonderful style and thoughtful words at the end. Embracing the winter. It’s like hibernating. Slowing down and taking time to appreciate the little things. Candlelight instead of electric light prepares us for sleeping so much better. I’m a new subscriber.
I’m lucky enough to actually live in the Lake District and I always say I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world but looking at your van it would be really hard to say no 😭😭😭 absolutely adore this channel
Hi Josie, in terms of condensation. An afforable option would be to get some cat litter and put it in small plastic or aluminum containers and punch some holes in it. It will help absord the moisture. If you get a lavender scented cat litter would be even better. Your actually living my dream "Van life". Your van is beautiful and i wish you all the best on your adventure.🌺🌸✨
i would highly recommend getting some window film for the winter! it’s basically just clingfilm that stretches and creates another layer to your window and stops condensation. i’m from scotland and we use it every year (:
You're definitely one of the best RUclipsrs in the world!! The editing, the cinematography... it's like watching a movie!!!
I agree, everything is so delicate and well thought out. Truly amazing!!
Exactly and all the hard work and effort she put into editing this is truly amazing! 🤩
100% agree ❤
Because she can afford all the expensive gadgets and to hire an editor! Hardly realistic van life, is it?! 😂
agreed. The same-old-same-old 'here is how i live in a van' videos no longer cut it. Josie has mastered the story telling.

What a great idea to host a January Q&A.
I would love to here your life wishes for the few years ahead of you. Or perhaps you haven’t got one and living in the short run and in the moment? Or maybe both?
Beautifully said how you experience your van life as a life lesson, because it truly is so enriching, including the challenges off course !❤
Love your sense of humor and inclusivity in your videos. Always on point and very entertaining.
Until next year ❣️
I like how the dog matches your decor!
Hello! My name is Tiffany and I live in the Caribbean, Anguilla to be exact. I decided to subscribe to you because your content is different and refreshing. Thank you for giving RUclips a try!
You are such a beautiful person inside and out. Thank you for sharing your lovely life with us!! As soon as I saw you posted I clicked on ☺️
😍🥰🥰💕
Wow! That van is like paradise ✨ Love it so much 💕 You're so brave to travel with your dog like that 💯✨
Oh my God, I laughed so hard at the gas station dummy hahahaha we always try to do that here in Brazil, but I don't think we'll ever manage without this jacket hahahahahah
I'm rooting for your heating system, your batteries and your water!
Hahaha aka "studded snows"
Josie, I love your style. I love your rig soooo much. It's so sweet.
Good to see you, Josie 🩷❄️ Stay warm and safe out there in the big, wide world!
As someone who grew up in France, I have found electric blankets are so helpful! 🎉
&electric mattress covers!
I’m in Canada and I second this! Our house is poorly heated and my heated blanket is a lifesaver
@@natl0426 yess i have those too!
@@EV-ye6mx yeah, I've lived in a big house all my life so we had heated flooring and stuff like that everywhere😆
God bless!
I love your editing style and honestly, I wish you always keep it real like it is right now. Hope you stay safe and warm this winter.
I totally love your unique style of YouTubing with slicing in cartoon characters! And Winnie might be the cutest Labradoodle ever!!!
Hey Josie, We love the van, the aesthetic and the style of your videos. We'd really love to see more of your travelling about and showing us where you've visited and what you get up to.
My Camper got wintershoes for chrismas❤Lots of love and warm thoughts🍀🍄✨⭐️🍀🐾🐾
Winter shoes! Ahh all terrane tyres….right🤔🏴
😂you got it
First timer!! I have so enjoyed watching you and Winnie, (so Cute) Your van is so beautifully shabby chic. Comfortable, cozy, practical yet beautiful!
I love that van. I have watched many van life videos and Yours is the best Ive seen. Its like a cozy little cottage. Lucky girl
What you did with your van is just amazing ❤❤❤.
I’ve watched hundreds of van life videos and your build is by far my favorite.
I would never get anything done if my van looked like this. Everything about your van style is perfect in every way!!!
Hi Josie, get a good alternator then drive 30min charge battery's fully 🧠🏆🇬🇧😘
Your videos are always so entertaining and your dog is so cute!!!🐩
Thank you so much!!☺️
@@BusOffwithJosie of course!!
Just wanted to comment and say I love your content! Thank you for sharing this experience with us! Stay safe this winter!
Thanks so so much for watching and I’m thrilled you liked the video 😍
Q &A In Scottish mountains , what about food? You got a big freezer?
Happy New Year ❤
I came across a video of yours by chance and now I love your channel and storytelling and your approach to vanlife and to life in general.
Thank you Josie❤ I enjoyed every moment of your vlog
im a us northerner so dont know how much winter street cred I get but, I was always taught: drive like grandma is in the back seat holding chili! no sharp breaking or sharp turning or blasting the accelerator. I would check some videos out on winter driving if you aren't familiar. love the van setup!!
I was screaming of happyness bc you did a new video! Your my fav youtuber❤
Fantastic video. You have a wonderful style and thoughtful words at the end. Embracing the winter. It’s like hibernating. Slowing down and taking time to appreciate the little things. Candlelight instead of electric light prepares us for sleeping so much better. I’m a new subscriber.
That is one of the most stunning vans I’ve ever seen!! ❤
I’m lucky enough to actually live in the Lake District and I always say I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world but looking at your van it would be really hard to say no 😭😭😭 absolutely adore this channel
You are living my dream XD
I plan to follow in your footsteps within three years.
Me hopefully nxt yr🏴
Hi Josie, in terms of condensation. An afforable option would be to get some cat litter and put it in small plastic or aluminum containers and punch some holes in it. It will help absord the moisture. If you get a lavender scented cat litter would be even better. Your actually living my dream "Van life". Your van is beautiful and i wish you all the best on your adventure.🌺🌸✨
Love your content. Very animated and lovely. That slug dance was everything 😂
i would highly recommend getting some window film for the winter! it’s basically just clingfilm that stretches and creates another layer to your window and stops condensation. i’m from scotland and we use it every year (:
