This is a great video. I do not hike but I work crazy long hours so I have recently been interested in the idea of making my own "fast food". Since I will be storing this at home I will divide it into individual small canning jars with tight fitting lids.
Maybe you should consider using your recipes to start a backpacking meal business. Of course field testing would be required, which would be a business expense. I'd love to see Meals By Hayley on the shelves at REI...
Ok, what the heck?!?! You cook your pasta and then dehydrate it again? Years and years of being a hiker and never heard of such a thing. Can you tell me why? My only guess is that cooking it the first time will get some of the starch out.
Haha for me it rehydrates faster, also kind of nice to bang it all in the pot together. But each to their own if I were cooking multiple pasta meals on a trip I’d probably just cook the pasta like normal 🙂
Just discovering your videos love the cooking ones they’re great! So refreshing to hear the words Celsius and capsicums.. 😅
It was so good! I really liked this recipe.
I also tried Vegetable Quinoa, Chickpea Curry.
I will make these recipes again
Legend! 😀
I love these. It is so hard to find Aussie hiking recipes
Thank you! I plan on making many more! :)
This is amazing! I have to try this for my next hike. Thank you :D
Happy eating to you! 😀
This looks good, I’ll have to give it a try for my next hike
This is fabulous! Looking for recipes for the Bibbulmun - thank you!
Thank you! Enjoy your Bibbulmun hike! 😄
This is so yum Hayley ❤ I took some for my overnight hike, the sauce I could eat on its own lol thank you
Excellent recipe!

Haha now that would be a great sight to see at REI. I definitely wouldn’t cancel it out :)
Do a hiking cook book 👌
I should 😄
I think I need to try doing this :)
Perfect timing, just in time to cook dinner. Looks amazing as always. Keep up the amazing work.
Haha I hope this inspires your inner chef tonight! :)
@@settohike master chef here we come haha
All the best with the channel - great content so far :)
Thanks a lot 😀
I'm going to give this a try for sure. I love a good pasta and a good one on the trail would be even better!!
Can’t go wrong with a good pasta! I hope you like this one :)
Very scrummy Hayley! Such a simple recipe too! I'll skip the dehydrating and just eat it! 😜🤣
Hahah that’s what most of my recipes tend to be, normal recipes that I turn dehydrated! 😄
Would that rehydrate in cold water too, just taking longer, for those who like to travel super light without a stove?
Yeah it would 🙂 I’m not sure on how much longer as I’ve never tried that myself but would definitely work :)
Very nice but I would have added a lot of olive oil towards the end of the cooking stage. I like my pasta oily and it gives it a lot more calories.
I can see how that would add extra goodness! The first actual hike I took this on, I forgot the cheese, it was a sad day :P

@@settohike Haha Ok cool. If it does indeed re-hydrate faster it'd be worth it. May test it out for myself. :)
