    Thanks for taking the time to do this,very helpful.
    I think this will be the size I will be looking for, not too big, just right.
    Was toying with the idea of going for a cheaper option ... but it'd be false economy in the long run!
    I hope Ortlieb are sending you some commission, you deserve it!!! :-)))) (only joking of course!)

      You're very welcome!
      For the Record, I bought the bags with my own money, and like you, I also checked out cheaper options also, but decided Quality wins out in the long run.

    Vincita sells the kit so you can add the hooks and bottom clip to any bag/pannier... I added it to an older panniers that only had metal hangers and elastic hook... Way better now...
    And I added a MIK to the trunk section for an easy additional storage...

    I got a panier back similar to your, it hasthe four clips on top , 2 on either side and locks on just like your , but it also has a Lever on each side which locks on to the side of the rack , in by the wheel . This must be tightend with an Allen key on both sides . So basically to take it on and off is gonna be alot of hassle and my hands will get filthy undoing those levers in by the wheel . Im wondering could I just scrap those levers and just use the 4 clips on top ? I think you have those levers on your also . Good video, thanks 😊

    • @GarryPurcell
      @GarryPurcell  Год назад +1

      I don't use those back clips either.
      My 20 inch folding bike is too small to use the levers effectively on the pack rack.

    I know ORTLIEB’s say they can be used for the front and rear bike rack but technically they are front Panniers as they are small at 12.5 litre each side.

    • @GarryPurcell

      They fit perfect on the the rear carrier of my NCM London 20inch folding bike. Ortlieb make quite a few different sizes, so you can get one that fits your bike.

    You could have focused more on the technical side, like what the volume are these bags, and how the top folds down and clips in, is my feedback.

    Thank you for the demonstration! I suppose its not a problem since it wasn't mentioned, but I was curious about if heel strike was any issue, especially since I also have a more compact/folding type bike.
    I would also be curious as to how much clearance you have with the back of your heel.
    Thanks again for the video!

    • @GarryPurcell
      @GarryPurcell  Год назад

      I've never hit the bags with my heels while riding.
      There is a minimum of around 50mm clearance from the heel to the bag.

      Bit late, but the ortlieb sport rollers (way smaller than the back rollers) are very close to heel striking on my dahon mariner d9 (with the default back rack). Probably 30mm clearance?

      Yes.
      There are a few clips of different thicknesses supplied.

      As far as I know, they don't.
      To be certain, you can always email them, and ask directly.

    Hello, can I ask about the backplate height and the thickness, cause I wanna use them on a small packable bike and I'm worried about the clearance, thanks alot

    • @GarryPurcell
      @GarryPurcell  3 года назад +1

      The bags backplate measurements:
      25mm wide x 28mm long "taken from top of handle" and 14mm depth.

    "Sport rollers" are smaller than the classic "back rollers" from Ortlieb it depends on what you need....
