The time has come to make a change in the Rainbowfish aquarium...which should actually be known more accurately as "the moss tank" 🤣. What is it going to look like with all the moss stripped back...am I going to keep it more to the point...

imagine a moss-only scape, with super thin branches so the moss can’t get as large and just an entire background of flowing moss. could make it a high flow setup to help combat the detritus getting stuck in the moss

Great update. I think that rainbowfish scape idea with the multiple islands for them to swim through/around is a stellar idea. Not a very common scape, so I'm interested in how you will do that. When I build the motivation to rescape my 75 gallon I'll definitely use your deep substrate method. I think it just helps everything from the plants to the fish. Appreciate all that I learn from you, MD. Take care.

MD's attack on the Monster Moss was a long time coming. I knew you would not be able to resist doing the tank over. The Rainbows look amazing and I am sure they will thrive in the new setup. You have so many plants you won't need to buy any and the colors and shapes you have give you plenty to choose from.
I'm looking forward to both builds as your Beta is stunning.

    As always, cheers MD.

    As always, another great video.
As you surmised, the tipburn on your Spathiphyllum probably has a lot to do with the light, but it also wouldn’t be my first choice to grow in water like that. If Colocasias are available where you live, try them out. I think you’ll find they’re super easy, low maintenance plants that thrive in that kind of setup, plus they look really cool. I grow a variety called ‘Mojito’ that’s stunning. Look it up and you’ll see what I mean.
    Anyway, keep it up!

MD, it is true that the viewers come to see how to set up tanks and watch you create, but (I’m sure you have noticed) they also like to see updates on the progression of the tanks. Since most of us are not redoing our tanks after a few months, we would like to see long term and how the tank transforms over time. That itself is also rewarding for all involved. Just one to watch for the long haul might make everyone/most happy. By the way, how’s Timmy?

A "busy" island in the middle.of the cube with some rock, wood and an assortment of plants may work. Depends on the tank, but a single island hardscape set up may be the best set up in terms of viewing the tank and providing fish with a good swim area.
