Sammy Hagar is one of my favourite vocalist in rock music.
I like the way Sammy has no problem paying his dues to the great collaborations of the past and the respect for his heroes.

Awesome guy, looking absolutely great for his age - yet, this song's a masterpiece, and, to me, it's meant to be played uptempo. Lots of great classics getting ruined by this "unplugged"-thing (I know, it's easy, as you you just need one guitar, but... Come on!). :-( Don't want to complaint, a GREAT man, yet, I always get disappointed when paying for tickets and then not getting the "real" (or even better - see Toto, for example) version of a great song. :-(
He had to take the vocals down an octave (lower pitch) because he can't hit he high notes any more. Since he was changing it anyhow, he decided to drastically change it, probably to distract from the fact that he's taking the vocal down an octave. I have nothing but respect for the guy still rocking at 70, but this is a misstep.

Have you lost your mind that was the worst cop out version of Dreams did I have ever heard. Yes Vick is a nice guy but as a guitar player he is actually pretty awful, it is an insult to even mention them in the same class is Eddie Van Halen, who by the way we're all the piano and Melody to that song. Sammy Should Skip playing this song live cuz that really sucked big time

Alright - it looks like my comment from over a year ago aged pretty poorly! At the time we had barely heard a peep from Eddie in something like 4 or 5 years and he was falling out of my mind. I just thought it was nice to see the old Van Hagar songs performed and performed well. Sure, Vic is no replacement for Eddie but his performances still sound pretty good on these songs. Fast forward to now ---- yes, I sure wish Eddie was playing these songs instead of Vic. RIP Eddie Van Halen.

God it sucks that he just can’t hit the notes like used to. One of the absolute greatest rock songs in history. Sammy is on my Mt Rushmore of rockNroll. Montrose, solo, HSAS, VH. Legend!!!!!

Dreams was his hardest song to record. He said he couldn’t believe he was able to be pushed to get to those notes. Try to sing the whole song without bumping yourself down an octave when it gets tough.
Seen him twice in the last 6 years and he sounded horrible each time.

Homes the guy is close to 70? He’s an amazing singer. Play your guitar for 70 years without changing strings once. Sammy is a great guy and awesome singer.

I understand, but he just can't hit those ridiculously high notes anymore. This song, in it's original version, is sung with crazy high notes. Most singers couldn't hit them in their prime, let alone when they're 70 years old! Although he changed it in order to keep singing it, and it's obviously not going to be sung in the classic way it was or be the once great song live it was, it's still pretty cool.

OK, why attempt one of the highest-pitched vocal songs in your Van Halen catalog, when you know you don't have the notes any more? There is no dishonor in not having all the high notes left at 70+ years of age, so why not choose the songs you can still sing well? Taking "Dreams" down an octave is questionable choice. I have nothing but respect for Sammy, but I think this is a misstep.
I like it. Its a concert, songs are supposed to be different. If you want it to sound like the album listen that.
Sammy is playing out of his love of music and his fans, he obviously doesn't need the money.
