- [Don't try this at home!] After many successful flights with our Estes Mercury Redstone on land, we decided to launch it from our seagoing barge ... but we didn't count on the complications that a radio control system would bring! Come watch our many Estes Mercury Redstone model rocket launch failures, close calls ... and finally, a great flight and recovery at sea!

This was AWESOME on so many levels, I will show this video regularly in my high school engineering classes. FAILURE is critical to learning, so many of my students want super cool and want it fast and want it easy. This shows hours of hard work, creativity and SUCCESS after what must have been hours and hours of building and filming! Thank you for posting!
We thank you, Doug; glad to be able to help provide some entertainment through learning for your students.
Rapidnadion are you guys still like a thing? Why haven’t you uploaded
@@railsofthenorthland1181 they never upload often, just when they have something to show.
Try bps space!
I loved your videos and channels so much. It’s great to see y’all back again
Finally I see something new in your channel. Love your videos, keep uploading more videos, I wanna see new adventures of the fleet, CV 63, and DD 702
Just a suggestion for radio-controlled launching use two channels one channel with a Servo to arm it physically and the second channel to fire
or just use a servo to press a firing button
U dont upload very often but when u upload the videos are so cool and epic
This is an outstanding project. Love the planning of events and prep......
2:20 I know I shouldn't laugh but this is why we always assume the round is about to go live. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome! Even just your 2nd missfire was about the coolest RC event video I've ever seen!
Great video, thank you for your entertainment! I’m glad to see you guys again!
What happened to you guys you’ve not uploaded in over a year
He uploaded rn
No budget, needs government to add extra 0s.
Aaaah, rockets!
Back to your roots...way to go, guys.
A wonderful, honest, and fun video.
Congrats from VidOne!!
ham radio jim Hey thanks V1! We'll have you out for the next one if possible; lots of lost footage opportunities from only having two of us on this shoot.
Beautiful Redstone rocket! Looks great with the clear waters in the background :)
I used to watch you as a kid glad to see your still around.
Very creative! Fun to watch. When I built my Estes Mercury Redstone, the tube was cardboard and all the other parts-nose cone, fins, escape tower-were all built from wood glued together with Elmer's. The tower especially was fun to assemble. Each individual rod had to be glued in place, and the nozzles were small pieces of paper rolled into a cone shape. I had many successful flights but I don't think a water landing would have been a good idea! LOL!
Glad to see more from you guys! Love your videos!
Whoa! That's awesome, great to watch! Thanks for sharing!
What a couple of big boys...I LOVE IT. Good video.
Always brings a smile to my face when I see a Rapidnadion video show up on my page
You guys are just awesome! I wish that you had more sub's for what you do!
Great video
Such a cool idea launching from the sea
What a view
Crazy cool. Thanks for sharing!
Good to see you guys back at it!
nice to see this channel back in action! The first video I seen by y'all was the "Titanic Break-up" how to, video!
Excelente trabajo!!! 👏👏👏👏👍👍 Muy buen vídeo cómo siempre, se los extrañaba
Wonderfully suspenseful and great fun!!!
More more
It has been a while, it’s nice to seem the creativity come back.
Great video. Exceptional work. My son loves this.
Great to see you active again!:) love it
I love your video. That some awesome rocket launchs. Very cool
Hey guys! Long time! Missed your projects.
Always a joy to watch. Have fun
That is an AMAZING model of the redstone rocket used for the first Mercury missions.
When you don't have SpaceX budget lol
Btw great setup & rockets
Greetings from france ❤️
Pls come back or are you working on a project
he has a other youtube that is very active, the name is "MrMobile".

Awesome! Good to see you guys again having fun! 👍
xKmotx always glad to see you, Kmot!
Too cool guys. I love my Freedom 7 rocket as well.
Not Bad at all, Congrats !!!
lovely creativity
dude you deserve 100K subs like for real!
This is one of the coolest channels in the world
Awesome video! Thank you for sharing...I wonder if attained altitude is impacted at all by the water under the pad
very nice guys!
Yey! A video!
Ayyy hes back
HEY, it's the guy who reviewed the LG Stylo 3 years ago. Wow, very cool
nicely done
AWESOME !!!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!! RapidNadion is back :D Where's the carrier???? :D
Cooler than ever!!!
please make more videos these were so cool when i was a kid and still are
If y’all are making something make the Britannic sinking that would be cool
yay, new video!
Very impressive!
Hey weapon Navy and keep up on the seaQuest good job how do you video on the Kitty Hawk
Hilarious! My father and I did something similar in 1980 on a lake in New York. Good times. Thanks for the memory recall.
Nice one
Very cool. Reminds me of opening credits of "I Dream of Jeannie".
If you have an extra channel on your radio, maybe connect that channel to a normally open relay in the firing circuit, so no signal can make it to the ignitor plug before intended
Can you do a tutorial on liquid fueled rockets or something because I’m having problems with my alcohol hydrogen peroxide rocket, (the pressure isn’t forcing the fuel to the combustion chamber, I’m using helium to do that)
Gone but not forgotten
Whatever happened to the submarine....that was such a thrill to watch...plz make more videos of it
Beautiful rocket
Nice !
You uploaded!
thanks, want to put estes on an rc plane, the trigger may need some thought and testing.
could you do a vid on your wiring ( or explain it here) thanks.
Bet that second launch woke you up :-)
That was wonderful and cool 😎 thanks
Glad you enjoyed it, Ira.
Are you guys dead? It’s been 2 years since your last upload. Still waiting for part 3 and 4 of the Seaquest build.
That's very funny! XD
You should use a dual ignition system with redundancy to greatly decrease the likelihood of a unintended launch. For example, the igniter circuit would be broken until a radio command sets off a servo which would physically complete the connection. Only then would you give a second signal to launch.
How cool is that 👍
I made a radio control launchpad 20 years ago ,it was setup to launch 3 rockets side by side 1 at a time ,it worked perfectly!!!
Wow pretty awesome
Too COOL!!!!!! BTW, looks like Florida, maybe the Indian River Lagoon???
Your alive!
MrMobile senior!!
amazing
Love your videos, but when can we expect more seaquest parts
congrats on 100k subs!! i just got the same rocket a month or two ago so i will be building one as well. any recommendations for a camera to put on it for the flight?
Thet's great stuff... ! I have 2 incredible stories I'd like to share. 1) I was flying with the
CRASH club out of Denver, they organised a "landing" event, bring a
rocket lauch it, the one who lands the closest to the launch pad wins...
Everyone had his special trick, we talked about it for a week, the day
of the event we were about 30 trying for glory, the 8 rod pad was
loaded, first to go, a dad and his son on pad one. 3...2...1...launch !
The ship goes up arcs into the wind, deploys his Estes chute and floats
back... to hang on the rod it just took of from... Imposible to best
that ! We all shot anyway and nobody got within 20 ft of the pad...
2) Same rules but for duration, bring anything you want, the longest
flight wins, but the judges have to be able to see the ship land... It
was cold, and there was snow on the ground. The night before I hurriedly
put thogether an Alpha III with a chute made from a trashbag, 2 times
bigger than the original. Next day I was there just to participate, I
could not win against all those "specials" the experts had build. My
trun comes, up he goes into the wind, deploys... nice black round
chute... is comming in... then, about 100 ft up it stops descending, it
passes in front of us and continues down wind climbig ! It climbs 10-15
ft then descends then repeats... 3 of us took off after on foot, after
crossing to wire fences we lost sight, It never landed ! I never found
it ! Later on an engineer explained : "You got so lucky, the wind,
temperature and chute size were right... the sun heated the air under
the black chute and created lift, it was enought to lose your ship..."
well I lost anyway...
Next gen of flitetest
Awesome
Great to see you guys back. Any updates on the carrier?
Our 63 is patiently awaiting more sea time, but no immediate plans for more updates. Thanks for commenting.
ıt was amazing guys
It's awesome
I COMPLETELY FORGOT THAT YOU ARE MR MOBILE. I've been subscribed to this channel for years and totally forgot that. Or maybe its more i forgot Mr Mobile is Rapidnadion haha
Great work! Can you guys make sampson The destroyer?
Not to worry even Space X has had its fair share of failed flights, nice video thanks for sharing.
When we'll we see giant CV-63 and her air wing operating again? It would be so cool to see drones (DJI Spark and/or Mavic series) operating from her deck)
what sort of rocket engines do i need to get into this model rocketry?
More videos please!!!
Ya more vids
Sweet project and great videos! Time to either convert those radios to 2.4 Ghz or outright replace them. Maybe use a second Channel as a fail safe (both have to be activated for the launch to work). Love the idea of the water launch though!
Good ideas; thanks!
Wow! Very nice rocket and tests! Even from failures or thank to them we learn and improve. I like the look and feel of the rocket, the launchpad and the support ship. But also that you try the RF launch system. Probably you need some other short of RF system, simpler in commands but more reliable, with maybe another not very used RF band, or encoding some sort of message. There are online several projects like that for arduino systems. Anyway great job, I had a great time seeing the video, and I'm sure you too building and flying the rocket. Thanks! for sharing!
BTW, how did you build the rocket, 3D printing?
Francisco Domínguez Román Thanks for the comment! The rocket is actually a model kit from a company called Estes.
Rapidnadion ah OK! Thanks for commenting it. 😃👍🏻
I’m launching a rocket soon called the X-40
Cuz all the others were taken
You need to be using a digital radio with S.Bus receivers and digital servo signal, then you can forget interference. Like FRSky or the cheaper FlySky. Even Futaba. But even the analogue servo signal would be locked down to your radio with those brands. Up to 2km distances on 2.4GHZ band.
Hello! I have seen every single video of yours on the titanic, and I've been thinking. I have a video suggestion! Maybe you could make a few tiny RC submarines from the movie to go back to the wreck of YOUR Titanic that you sank. The one that split in half. I'm sure you've probably installed something to bring the ship back up, but if you haven't, maybe you should do this! I love your videos, too!
How you build this rocket and what chemicals you used for thrusting the rocket....
You should make a video with the Titanic models and tell the story with the rc Titanic and sinking Titanic in the same video, kinda like a mini movie.
BRAVOOOOO !!!!
About time lol
He's alive!
What happened to the sea quest?
