One question I have is why would an individual NOT want to disclose their salary? What do they have to lose by saying it?

What if the HR doesn’t tell you anything about the salary until the job offer stage, and then gives a figure and says “I’m not authorised to negotiate salary.”
What if you owned your own company and are commission based and it's wildly more than any salary?
