That doesn't look like the worst for a fixerupper. Pretty fortunate.😄

I pulled this up to make sure I was seeing the belt positions. I had one old belt intact that removed easily but it was kind of sticky but not too bad. I looked for the second one but didn’t see it or pieces of it. I put both belts on, closed it up and tried. Started to turn then stoped. Opened up again and that second belt was EVERYWHERE! It had been hiding on the pulleys like the monster in Alien. Spent two hours getting the parts of of me and the machine. Folks if you don’t see the old belts keep looking. If your brass or metal pulleys aren’t shiny in the groove, that’s the old belt. Plastic gears are opaque and don’t have a black line in the groove. Look real close. 😮it’s hard to see. Mine’s running now. Peace out!

That's great advise! I would have continued to try to fix this one, but it really wasn't worth it. I have one from the early 90s that works great. I do want one from the late 80s that I used to have a WM-F38/F68. I have found some overseas but I have not bought it because they want 100-200 bucks. Eventually I'll get it and maybe make another belt replacement video. Thanks for watching!

I got he belts from eBay. They were about 7-12 dollars a bag. I would just type "assorted bag of tape deck belts". They also have the pack for turntables. There a lot of youtubers who encourage you to pay up to $20 for the "correct size" belts, but just get the assorted. Sometimes these seller send you the wrong size or the round belts instead of the flat belts. To avoid wasting time with getting the wrong belts, just buy the assorted. Its much cheaper.

I just recently got this unit but I am having trouble with the door, it won’t stay closed and I don’t know how to fix it, is there any chance that you can help me with that?

Try cleaning out the little latch that is supposed to clip on when it closes. Try some IPA, then go back and lubricate it with some lithium grease. You might have to open and close it a couple of times until it clips into place. Otherwise check to see if the assembly is broken. If so, you should look into replacing the entire thing since unfortunately these are no longer manufactured. I hope this is helpful.

I wish I could help you, but I no longer have this device. If you look it up in hifi engine (google it) you might find an old manual there that might show you a schematic where it points out the motor's pot that can be adjusted. If you ask me, its not a walkman that is worth the time. I don't think it was very well built, but I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching!

Cool! I think its the luck of the draw. This one was not hard to replace the belts. The problem was with the pots, which made it not worth my time to fix. Thanks for watching!

A sony wm 2091 i got very cheap has bad caps horrible surface mount they need doing ,plus this model suffers from a cracked clutch gear plus the belts it wont be so cheap oncei get the parts to fix but it is a tiny walkman not much bigger than a cassette case .I do not have a wm41 but i do have the wm31 this is fairly basic having no radio but it does have tiny rubber spacers andif you lose one the mechanics do not turn properly when put back together ,ome of the things with a few of my walkmans is getting more motor noise i guess its the caps for sound supression i do need to do cap replacements in a few of my walkmans .The motor not tuning could also be a tiny switch that activates with tape functions .The bad caps on yours could be the radio circuits if you have a cassette adaptor the ones you used to us efor [playing a cd player through your car cassette, you could try playing audio through the tape deck from a phone to see if audio from the cassette works fine

Yeah more than likely I will probably get rid of it because I don't have the tools to recap this one. I did see that the insides were pretty clean, so it could definitely be a parts walkman. Thanks for watching!
