What a legendary build! I was shocked when the second reaper came out at the end, I'd never seen that before. Can't wait to see you dominate endless with this!
The game spawns 1 reaper every 1 minute passed the 30min mark, the game dev coded that probably just to add difficulty to people who finds strats like this.
BTW you only need the Laurel and the Clock Lancet to summon multiple reapers. Spellbinder and Empty tome help make it easier, but you can totally survive long enough with just those two.
In library you can do this build a bit easier since there's empty tome sitting in the map. What makes it easier is if you get all passive item slots filled, empty tome is added into the third additional row of items. Same goes for empty mask.
When this map got changed, items were added to it. There is a 50% chance of an Empty Heart above spawn, and a 20% chance of a Pumerola way below spawn. Oh, and multiple places with various chances of a Clover.
@@alexstewart9592 true, but it's harder to keep track of where to look for them because of how open the map is. Library is easy because you can just go left for tome and right for mask. Maybe Arca (-15% cooldown) or exdash (+100% luck) would be better picks for the pentagram itself, though they make the tanky part of the build weaker. Also, the library allows you to get empty tome as a 7th passive item (and if you really want it, stone mask as well). It's great for when you want a build to be as strong as possible
Actually, the reaper has negative knockback, meaning every time you hit it it will get "knocked" closer to you. That's one of the reasons why it sticks so hard to you.
Slight tweak to this build based on my experience in getting to 33 minutes on Hyper Mode: Garlic is a trap, something like the evolved bible/axe for actively keeping enemies away between pentagram procs makes getting to 30 mins easier! Extra duration from spellbinder synergises with clock lancet & laurel for significantly more tank/control than I've had with Evolved Garlic, and I think for going endless the longer freezes and immunity from laurel will allow you to move into whatever gaps end up existing between waves!

After a 67 minute run I calculated that I've dealt about 700k dmg to the oldest Reaper, which was not enough to kill it. We have no clue how tanky it is, but we can safely assume that it has over 1 million hp.
I had a build that was struggling in the late game but I had an open weapon slot, so I took pentagram. Since it triggers when you take it I was able to selectively trigger it by leveling and chests and it won me the game
Santa Water has quickly become one of my favourite upgrades. I was playing the character with increased weapon duration that starts with King Bible and maxed out Spellbinder, Duplicator, Candelabrador and Empty Tome and when I stood still there was an almost permanent ring of Santa Waters around me. That combined with evolved Bible and Garlic meant I could stand still for the entire last 10 minutes of the library on hyper. Greatly recommend you try out a build similar to this because full investment in Santa Water is some of the most fun I've had with this game
Something great about Pentagram, is that even though it looks like it deletes the enemies, all the enemies it kills instantly respawn at the edges of the screen. It’s effectively a random “Oh Crap” button at worst, and free loot at best.
I don't think that's how it works. I think it just kills only the stuff that is currently on screen, while everything off screen survives. So if you have a hoard following you backed all the way off screen, it will only kill the ones on screen, while the rest of the hoard survives. So for maximum destruction it's best to be basically at the center of the hoard when the pentagram goes off, otherwise you'll miss some of the monsters.
@@icycloud6823 Yes, but also, whenever a wave dies, it immediately spawns the next wave, and not a moment sooner to avoid lag. This would mean that Pentagram effectively resets the wave instantly, causing little downside, with the chance to get free XP.
@@icycloud6823 Ye, lol. Oh also, enemies off screen get despawned after a certain distance. The way I personally discovered this wave mechanic is by playing as Poe in the library, and just going in one direction, while making sure to kill all the enemies on that side. Go left, move up/down to kill enemies, go left and more enemies will instantly come on screen. If you go right however, there won't be a massive hoard of all the enemies you missed, instead a wave nearly equal to the one on the left. And then, bosses get despawned too. If a boss vanishes off the right side of the screen while you're going left, it'll teleport to the left side, with the same amount of health as before.

It’s probably the pentagram non-delete chance (eg 25, or 45), multiplied by your luck (eg 60). So say you have a forty five percent non-delete chance, you’d multiply that by your luck (so 0.45+(60%)=0.72), makes 72%.
Either that, or the pentragram's non-delete chance is uneffected by other modifiers like luck. Judging by how 'unlucky' tyler was getting with the drops. I'd guess that the drop chance is uneffected.
To freeze the reaper, you just need to run in the direction oposite of the lance shooting direction, so the Reaper will be in the back. Sadly only the lance and lorrel are helpful here. Maybe move speed as well.
I think you succeeded in the best way to define a Pentagram Run: more than 50% of your damage has to come from Pentagram for it to be a "success". I've thought of ways to horribly restrict choices - which is especially easy now that we have rerolls and skips - to *enforce* the... Pentagram-ness of the run... but % damage makes the most sense to still allow player choice and ingenuity. It also allows for degrees of success. I propose "scoring" runs by taking the % of damage dealt by Pentagram over the run, and multiplying it by the total damage dealt by Pentagram. This incentivizes "purity" of Pentagram but also just general Pentagram effectiveness, so that it doesn't lean too hard on a "just don't die" run.
The updated forest has items spread throughout it, someone on the game's discord made a map with the chances, there's a pumarolla, spinach, black heart and a clover.
when you first mentioned the ungodly pentagram build I had to try it out for myself first, and basically what I ended up with was a tank build that happened to have pentagram lol
The best time I've managed to get is just over 33 mins in the library. Death comes in from the sides so if you position yourself in a corner of the piano bookcase, they will get stuck. Could be interesting to try with a lorel clock hand build
There is actually another secret character that I would like to see you play at least once, and his name is missingno. The only way to unlock him is through a little file tampering, because his unlock condition is to kill a reaper and I don't think anyone has managed that. But his stat's are all randomized every time you load up the character selection screen so you can see some insane stuff, like -100% cd.
I saw Sifd's video of the missingno character, he had a really fast cooldown (especially on laurel) which helped him survive about 38 minutes. Maybe you should try clock lancet with it?
19:10 the way I think luck works in this scenario is it has a 100% chance to roll 45% drops again if it doesn't work the first time and an extra 5% chance to roll a third time if it doesnt work the second time. At least that's my theory, luck in games work in different ways
ohhh, I didn't know you also had to wait for the 10 minute mark. that explains why a couple of my runs I didn't get the evolved weapon as soon as I had unlocked it
Can’t believe I’ve watch my man Tyler for nearly 4 year and never once liked a video!! I’m such a bad viewer when it comes to liking videos. I’ll watch every god damn video from all of my subs but never 👍. I’ve got about 900 vids to upvote for my main reasons to open my eyes after that awful alarm in the morning. Keep up the good work and honestly aliens do rock 😂😂
Clover is really important for using pentagram because it deleting items is luck based. So the better your luck the less likely it is going to nuke your items on screen.
Made it early, have been looking forward to this build as Tyler has been hyping this up for some time, and I have been waiting to see this. Now I can rest
Exdash is actually super good for this build, at 200% luck a 45% chance to not delete is very near 100% not to destroy items (makes it more viable earlier).
Hey Tyler, you can actually unlock the Grim Reaper character as a hidden extra. His name is Missingno, in reference to the glitch, and all you have to do to unlock him is go to the files and edit the damage of something like garlic to a billion, or something, and one shot the reaper. you'll have to quit the game after as it doesn't know what to do, *BUT* you'll have it unlocked as you cheated death! then you gotta just edit the files to be correct damage again which for garlic is base 0.5. Don't wanna take any garlic upgrades as it would reset the damage but ye.
Now that I think about it, I think Santa water actually translates to “saint water”, considering the Italian name of Saint Maria, is “Santa Maria”, and would make a lot more sense considering it has the appearance of a bottle of holy water.
Stone mask has exactly one purpose: being a free item along with tome in library so you can get EIGHT passives (also it is the easiest and most consistent way to get the 5k gold in one run achievement)
If you hadn’t been forced to take the Stone Mask, you could have theoretically taken wings, and the speed boost from that might be enough to keep up with the Clock Lancet and circle the reaper indefinitely. The second reaper obviously complicates things, but I’d imagine extra speed would be incredibly useful regardless.
clock lancet does not reapply freeze to frozen enemies so the reaper would always get a fraction of a second of movement even with perfect lancet micro.
the Reaper has around 655,350 HP and then multiplied by your current level when they spawn. With that in mind, if an average run spawns Reapers somewhere between level 60 and 100, each Reaper will have between 35,000,000 and 65,000,000 HP
The wait is over! This is likely the most unique build you'll ever see in this game.

The updated forest has items spread throughout it, someone on the game's discord made a map with the chances, there's a pumarolla, spinach, black heart and a clover.
very cool idea :)
That was amazing. It was so exciting to see the second reaper! Now I have to try this out for myself lol
when you first mentioned the ungodly pentagram build I had to try it out for myself first, and basically what I ended up with was a tank build that happened to have pentagram lol
The best time I've managed to get is just over 33 mins in the library. Death comes in from the sides so if you position yourself in a corner of the piano bookcase, they will get stuck. Could be interesting to try with a lorel clock hand build
Clock lancelet is actually amazing. Maybe it's not great in every build but that freezing is insane
There is actually another secret character that I would like to see you play at least once, and his name is missingno. The only way to unlock him is through a little file tampering, because his unlock condition is to kill a reaper and I don't think anyone has managed that. But his stat's are all randomized every time you load up the character selection screen so you can see some insane stuff, like -100% cd.
funni
I saw Sifd's video of the missingno character, he had a really fast cooldown (especially on laurel) which helped him survive about 38 minutes. Maybe you should try clock lancet with it?
19:10 the way I think luck works in this scenario is it has a 100% chance to roll 45% drops again if it doesn't work the first time and an extra 5% chance to roll a third time if it doesnt work the second time. At least that's my theory, luck in games work in different ways
ending at level 69 was the icing on the cake
He finally did it. Let's gooooo!
Finally! Can't wait so see what it does
This build bout to go crazy 😳
ok, crazy idea, but if you perfectly time out pentagram, that could be the thing that kills the grim reaper at the end, right?
Nah it doesn’t do enough damage (it only actually does 666 damage, the reaper has way more HP then that)
@@cptnkaladin lmao i typed the comment right before he said that
If you haven't noticed yet, santa water fires bottles in circles that also correspond to a clock like the clock lancet
One of these days you will get the timing down for the lancet! It really doesn't matter since you can't kill the reapers I think. GG!
I've seen 2 jackpot chests from you I think, gg.
Pentagram is op.
Aliens rock, you know who else rocks? You do Tyler. And so do you random person scrolling through the comment section.
If you have max lvl and the chest is dropped after 10 minutes you’ll always get the evolved weapon
ohhh, I didn't know you also had to wait for the 10 minute mark. that explains why a couple of my runs I didn't get the evolved weapon as soon as I had unlocked it
You should try a time lance run, last as long as you can
This is a good series.
So the better your luck the less likely it is going to nuke your items on screen.
this build is pretty awesome
That was amazing.
Loving this series man
Not sure if you noticed but you ended on 69 levels on the epicest and nicest of runs.
Made it early, have been looking forward to this build as Tyler has been hyping this up for some time, and I have been waiting to see this. Now I can rest
What a run!
Can we acknowledge that Santa water managed to do like double the damage of the whip in the end?
It's around x10 more in half the time so more along the lines of being x5 as powerful
evolved whip is more of a support weapon. it heals 8 health per attack cycle, which is the best healing in the game.
Yeah, at the end the "technique" is called "Circling them and allowing freeze to constantly hit them and NOT standing there allowing it to miss."
the Reaper has around 655,350 HP and then multiplied by your current level when they spawn. With that in mind, if an average run spawns Reapers somewhere between level 60 and 100, each Reaper will have between 35,000,000 and 65,000,000 HP
It was very fun.
