I'm talking about how everyone involved will point fingers at them for going too far while minimizing their own involvement, or saying "I was wrong but this is too much". And then they leave him. Sadly situations like these happen all the time. People like OP getting wrongfully acused because its easier for everyone involved except for him of course. Most "good" natured people experience this at least once, i would wager. People question the logic behind OPs action even if they did more harm than him, even if he only reacted after they agitated him. The cherry on Top is the gaslighting by calling him a psycho just because he wanted to get back at them. His "betrayel" was way less hurtsome then theirs. Good gosh, OP is one hell of a badass. Not only did he string the delusional snake of a girlfriend along with the idea of marrying her, throwing a party and everything. Honestly? OP has me torn. On the one hand, he is NTA for exposing his parents and brother and humiliating them in front of the extended family. That was well earned and less then they deserved. But on the other hand, he is the a-hole for stringing his ex along by proposing to her. He should have just been honest with her, tell her that he knows what she did and break up like an adult. Same result, but it would have made him the more mature person. Now he is just as much of a lier and manipulator as her. There would have been other avenues through wich he could have pursued revenge against his family, instead of faking love and an engagement.
