hi robert silas how do you apply musubi connection in your bjj or grappling? how can that connection concept translate over to Brazilian jiu jitsu especially with everyone grabbing the gi and pushing and pulling? aikido and many martial arts such as wing chun and taiji you "move from center" and connect to the opponent in relaxed heavy manner it seems..... idk 🤷♀️ i am trying to better understand how to incorporate aikido and internal/soft arts with my Brazilian jiu jitsu. i absolutely love your aikijiujitsu approach
Great question! It’s very easy to connect when gripped by the wrist or arm, but when the opponent grips your gi there is a lot of looseness. You must be able to remove the looseness as they secure a grip, which is achieved in part by extending your opponent’s reach. Another method is by aligning your structure behind the grip so they are still connected with your body and not just the gi (think of your chest connecting to their body through their hand on a lapel grip).
Sir you are very knowledgeable, skilled, and entertaining. I love your videos and hope to see your channel grow. Could you put all of your “aiki for bjj” videos into a playlist on your page?
Back again with some more awesome set ups, it would be interesting to see you roll with some bjj people and try to get these locks in under pressure, I think that would be good for the aikido community. Also could you make a video with all the gi grips and grips from aikido like mune dori and such? I stumbled across some of the grips and aikido and I'm confused why we hardly see any of them
@@Aiki_and_Jiu it would be groundbreaking and hopefully wake some people up. I hope you find all the grips in the aikido curriculum because I some thoughts for how aikido should be more trained and used. Are you planning on releasing a video once a week? I am staying tuned in man

Kote gaeshi is probably the most prolific wrist-lock available when rolling, in my opinion. It’s usually pretty easy to grab when hand fighting. I may make a video on it the near future.
I remember using this against a big fat bully. It wasn't as easy as how I was taught in class. Nevertheless, I got him in a good position, cranked the lock, and he gave up
COOL i really love the way you handle your body in those movments!
Just found your videos. Love your infusion of wristlocks into your jiu jitsu 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks 🙏. Wrist locks are everywhere. They don’t always lead to submission, but are great at impacting the opponent’s posture.
I love this idea of defending guard retention. I will try it.
Good to hear. Hopefully you find it easy to execute.

Yes, I should film some good rolls. Not certain about all the aikido grips. I’ll look into it.

I use this one a good bit when the timing is right.
the double sankyo one is awesome
Thanks 🙏.
Hi in the next video please cover in detail how to block shomen uchi safely and kuzushi using ippon dori techniques. Thank you Sensei Silas!
That’s a good topic for a full class, to be honest. I may do a video on this in the future, using ippon dori principles.
