Great review, awesome video. I’ve stayed at this hotel at least 20 times over MANY years before moving to Miami because of the service and their standard of excellence on every level. It always keeps me coming back. I’ve had amazing experiences- each and every time. From the start of my stay till the end. I live in Brickell now and occasionally stop in at MO Bar on weekend nights when they have live bands. Amazing hotel all around. You have to try the spa. Thanks for the review
Thanks LG. Of the mandarins I've been to, I've never been disappointed. Consistent excellence. The spa is the one component I'll definitely try next time - it's the #1 ranked spa in Florida.
Your timing is impeccable lol. My fiance and I are heading out to miami in march to get a much needed get away for a few nights. I was literally looking at all 3 of the hotels you mentioned! Kimpton Epic and Mandarin both appeal the most but the extra luxury of mandarin just flat out seems like its worth it. If a quiet/private balcony is of utmost importance to my fiance, does one really stand out over the other? And assuming its mandarin, is it worth the extra price? The detail in your videos are incredible and I'm happy to subscribe and see more of these breakdowns. You've made this trip so far a lot easier!
Comments like these are what makes producing these videos worthwhile. Thanks for the support, Benjamin, and welcome to the channel - there's A nice community forming here.
The Mandarin indeed was worth the extra price. The balcony experience at Kimpton was quite nice also - it did have a wow factor - but the balcony experience at The Mandarin was unparalleled and cannot, or least has not, been rivaled by another Brickell hotel (hitherto today - I still have more hotels to see in Brickell). Another hotel with a profound balcony experience is The Edition, although that property is located over in Miami Beach. If you do decide to stay there, ensure you request a room on a higher floor, or a bungalow suite, as those rooms have the best and unobstructed views.
All of the drinks were amazing, but the strawberry daiquiri was the best. The Mandarin is truly a special and unforgettable place - I really enjoyed my time there. ☀️💫
The fusion of a pool/beach setup was a special oasis in the heart of Brickell. So amazing and cool...! The mandarin might be my favorite hotel at the moment.
Hay James i will be in Miami in 6 days from today. I booked 2 nights at the Nobu / Eden Roc. Nobu tower. Then two night at the fontaine bleau and last one night at the Margarita vill hollywoodflorida which has an adults only pool on the 11 th floor. Will you be in town? Also my wife and daughter are going to Orlando and I'm staying so I will be dinning at the tea room and adikkt on your recommendation. If your in Miami lets get pizza or a bacon egg burger on me. April 7 through 11 2021
Watched this video twice! I'm definitely booking this Friday for my wife birthday in August.. made me a believer although the video where you had the bungalow was cool too. I'm kinda torn🤦🏽
I actually can't call it, because those are my two favorite Miami hotels. So between Mandarin or Edition - since both are so unbelievable - let price be the deciding factor. Hopefully one is cheaper in August, making the decision Easy. If pricing is parallel, good luck with that decision 😎
DEAR JAMES, GOD BLESS YOU MY FRIEND. I AM VERY PROUD OF YOU AND VERY HAPPY FOR YOU. I HOPE ALL OF YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE. I HOPE YOU HAD THE BEST AND HAPPIEST CHRISTMAS OF YOUR ENTIRE LIFE AND THE BEST AND HAPPIEST 2022 OF YOUR ENTIRE LIFE. IT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL. 🙏 SINCERELY PETER
Bro your at the Mandrion oriental resort!!!!!! That could be a possibility for my summer trip. Dude is this better than Fontain bleau? The night view looks 👌.
These hotels have a bifurcated view on luxury: Privately situated on Brickell Key, the Mandarin offers a traditional, formal, and refined upscale luxury experience. While upscale and luxurious, Miami Beach's Fontian Bleu will most likely appeal to a more modern, younger, and energetic clientele that seeks a trendy and cosmopolitan hotel experience. Both hotels are upscale and luxurious, but the similarities end there. Choosing one instead of the other should be predicated on the mood, goals, and desired location of your hotel stay. For me, Mandarin is the choice.
@@Coolist after watching 3 of your videos with my family my wife wants to go tomorw!!!! Lmfao. We re watched the W brickel and the reason why I liked that for my next trip is the view from the rooms is like omg.
The Edition and The Mandarin are probably my two favorite Miami hotels at the moment. The mandarin, specifically, was unbelievable. At one time it was the ninth best hotel in the country. Plus, the Brickell key location was the perfect fusion of tranquility and nightlife.
I never miss a ufc event! Since ESPN took over the PPV and network distribution, lately I've just been watching on my iPad inside whatever hotel room I've been staying at. UFC bars and events can be fun, but i prefer watching alone in quiet solitude - that way I don't miss a thing.
@@Coolist totally agree. That's how I watched it on my new SAMSUNG. I'm a huge Conor and Ben Askren fan. Looks like I might si.e new favorites. BTW. Props on the Manderin oriental resort. I. Gonna show my wife your vlog. It was the best vlog of Miami ever. This was your finest hour. I like how you say " I don't blame a resort for the weather butt!!!" That had the best weather of your vlogs. Key biscayne like Cardiff by the Sea doesn't always look like a million bucks. So I looked up the rates thinking it Fontainebleau money. ( NOT) I can book Cadilac or Nautilus for 3 nights and Manderin Oriental resort for 1 night that way I get two days at the pool and retreat area and book a late flight. I will let you know how in awe my wife is of your latest Vlog.
This is a legitimate concern - in a couple months, if the domestic lockdown persists, hotel options for future videos in Vegas and Miami could be scarce. Might have to find some new cities this summer, if any are open 🤨
Realistically, there are probably 15-20 Miami vicinity hotels left to be reviewed. Perhaps there are more of I expand the proximity to Fort Lauderdale.
Hi! Thanks for this review. Going to spend my first and last stay at this MO since they are tearing it down 😢 Beach has already disappeared unfortunately… was wondering if you remember the room number you had cause I’d love to get the same view!
Question. Are there rooms on the back side of the building? I want to stay there but don’t want to get stuck with a room that doesn’t have a view of the skyline. For some reason the Bay views are more money than the skyline views which are confusing to me
Hi James, I am new to the channel. Very nice review, really interesting. I would like to book a room here and I really liked yours, which kind of room it is with this great view? There are many on the website (bay view, island view, skyline view) and I am a bit confused! Thanks a lot.
@Coolist: Really tempting to stay at, but now after seeing your review of The Edition in Mami, it's a tough decision. Aside from the pool/beach access of them, what would you say are the biggest advantages of the 2 hotels (is walking to Brickell better than driving around, is the basement of Edition worth it)? I'm going for a 1 night stay to play rich for a day lol.
Wow, you picked my favorite two Miami hotels. In my opinion, based on the Miami hotels I've stayed at thus far, The Mandarin and The Edition are in their own league and a cut above all the others. But deciding between the two is so hard. I'd let price and location make the primary decision. If prices are similar, I'd choose the Edition. If the Edition is $200 more a night, then go with Mandarin without hesitation, especially considering the Mandarin's larger rooms and more happening location. Is the Edition worth $200/night more than Cadillac - absolutely. Is it worth $200/night more than Mandarin - no.
@@Coolist thanks for the reply! Yeah, looking at the prices (especially how the Bungalow room is basically 1k), it seems like the Maridian is the better buy. Most of them are slideshows with no real content, or ppl who haven't been to other nice hotels in the area.
All things being equal, The Edition is the newer, fresher, and more modern concept and experience. But 1k for a night is ludicrous. $400-500/night would be my ceiling for that property. Also remember, reduced supply (50% capacity) coupled with increased seasonal demand (spring break) have pushed prices to the stratosphere. I can't remember seeing Miami hotel prices higher than what they are right now. Additionally, March and April are peak and prime time tourist season for Miami... South beach isn't what it used to be. If i were to stay anywhere in Miami Beach, it would be Mid-Beach somewhere like at The Edition, or Bal Harbour (North Beach) at one of the high end hotels up there, such as the Ritz Carlton. To answer your question, I'd take the Mandarin at Brickell almost over anything in Miami, including the very best that south beach has to offer. The Mandarin is a guaranteed extraordinary experience.

The Mandarin is superior to the Ritz Carlton Bal Harbour in almost all main categories: location, campus, pool, experience, and restaurants. The only area where the Mandarin is inferior to the Ritz Carlton Bal Harbour is the actual room, which is a tad outdated.
