If its going to be true to the times and not hold back on the viceregal nature that was the crusades I might be willing to give it a try.
It was a certainly a different time lol. People seemed to grow up faster in the past, or at least were expected to grow up faster. I can't picture many 16 year olds that I've known leading an army in battle or being a king. But also remember that many of these kings and leaders were raised to become leaders and military men, so their upbringing would be much different than the average person. Still doesn't change the fact that he beat Saladin's army at 16 years old with such a small force though all while being afflicted with leprosy. That is amazing and extremely respectable in any case. I reckon that most 16 year olds (or even much older people) in his time wouldn't be up to the challenges that he rose to.

Still remember reading about this battle in Helena Schrader's book, "Knight Of Jerusalem". Baldwin rides into battle with Balian d'Ibelin on his right, holding Baldwin's lance for him, and another knight on his left, holding Baldwin's shield for him.

Saladin was defeated by the 16 years old Baldwin the Leper in Battle of Montgisard. Saladin lost the Battle of Arsuf and Battle Of Jaffa aganist Richard the Lionheart.
Baldwin should have learned from Medieval 2 Total War... Always keep some light cavalry handy to hunt down their general and other cavalry as they're routing.

The Mamluk bodyguard was no small foe to defeat. I often wonder, if the Crusades had focused on Egypt first, how the power play dynamic would have changed. Egypt was always the life blood to the Muslim cities.
In Egypt the situation was different , the common people there were fighting fiercely to defend the land , the historians say literally in the 7th crusade the crusaders were afraid of the attacks of the common Volunteers more than the regular army
About the mamluks , i believe they were the toughest knight order in the medieval era ... they were so strong and skilled , fearless , and unbelievably organized ... This was due to the strict military education they received when they were young ... it was something like the Spartan system...
It will be difficult, it's just like and arabian armies try to attack France or england. They have allies to call for aid, also they know their land better. Richard I did attack saladin's supply from egypt.
Fun fact, Reynauld De chatillon was just as much a reason for the victory as was Baudin and he and Baudin were good buddies. THe film kingdom of heaven just makes out reynauld was a Robber knight (WHich sometimes he was) but he was also the only crusader of the day actively trying to frustrate Saladin's plans, and with Baudin won one of the greatest crusader victories.

@@indraadha987 Typically leprosy in advanced stages could cause lesions to the face, there aren't many accounts of what he looked like, though I imagine during the period in the movie his face would not necessarily be, as you put it "Destroyed." He did have an accompaniment of two men to hold his armaments before battle as he was still relatively left frail throughout his life due to leprosy. Look into the history though, he was still relatively accurately portrayed in his actions, I mean he was quite the badass, even by accounts of those who witnessed him.
