Shaq is talking out his ass. There's a reason why seeding is a thing. You want the middle seeded teams to have long series games that way the top seeded teams face them later in the playoffs. Why would a team like the nuggets want to face the suns or clippers in the first round? "To get them out the way"?? Makes no sense.
I agree with Shaq. Makes plenty of sense. Just like the year Boston swept Brooklyn in the 1st round. Brooklyn was favored to win the chip that year. Better chance of getting a good team out early. Before they get into rhythm and gain momentum. They didn't duck Brooklyn like Milwaukee did. That's showing fear

Now OKC or Minnesota are super fresh, they had only one great generation of players. Nobody scares them. That's why they need to choose the first-round team carefully. Because after winning in the first round they will get experience and confidence.

Shaq don’t even make sense why would you want to play your hardest series first. From a strategy perspective it doesn’t make sense. Playing teams that aren’t as good early gives you a better chance to keep advancing. Yes, I don’t doubt teams are confident no matter who it is they can win. But I don’t think any players from that top half are willingly wanting to see a healthy suns/lakers team (assuming they take a jump after all-star break) in the first round which is why you want to be high in the standings.

There is no world in which I would choose to roll the dice playing the fully rested hard teams first when I can get further into the playoffs and have a better chance against them tired at the end.

@@warrenrod7549 There was a three team competition in the West during the Laker's 3-peat run: San Antonio, Portland (1st ring)/Sacramento (the other 2), and the Lakers. Every other team the Lakers would sweep easily, and did (even San Antonio). Remember their run when they swept their way to the Finals (championship #2) and only AI's 76ers took a game off of them? That period in the NBA was loaded at the top but weak everywhere else.

Facts. It's a lot of really good Dark Horse teams out West.. It's daunting. Playing the Mavs/Lakers/Kings/Warriors/Suns in a series is no walk in the park and that might be 1st Round. Regardless of seeding, it's gonna be an even better playoffs than last year
