  • What would you do if you had to find food and shelter on your own? When the Moravians arrived in North Carolina in the mid-1700s, they had to adapt quickly to an entirely new environment in order to survive. Drawing from centuries of knowledge and technologies from Indigenous nations, the Moravians did more than survive, they developed into the towns of Bethabara, Bethania, and Salem.
Special thanks to our friends and partners at Historic Bethabara Park. To learn more about the fascinating history of the earliest Moravians in Wachovia, visit www.historicbethabara.org, @bethabarapark on Facebook and Instagram, and, of course, visit the park in person when they reopen for guided tours in April.
