in Islam if a guy proposes or the girl wants to get married it's up to the father to vet or get to know the guy. if he likes him/agrees and the daughter is interested then her and the guy get to know each other in a halal way (the time frame for that is different for everybody). after that, if she gives consent and she's perfectly content with him and they both find each other attractive then they get married. If she doesn't like him then they both move on with their lives. Boom. Easy.
🤷♂️ The problem in the west is that the role of the father has been demoted, so people don't value the opinion of a father. But according to ISLAM ☪️ it is the father's duty to screen the man his daughter will marry and ultimately give or deny his consent. Without the father's (or wali's) consent a girl cannot be legally married according to the sharia. And there is a wisdom for this, God Almighty after all created us and knows what is best for us.
Honestly, I agree with you guys fully. We grew up with family values and traditions and that's not a bad thing. Alot of people think that they took your choice away. No. Your parents have to teach you right from wrong. I believe me and my parents are more of friends now but I still know there is a barrier that I can't cross. Respect is key but there should also be a little bit of fear or else why would you listen
Full control? I hate when people add their own version to disagree with it. Guy asks would you allow your dad to vet your partner? She says no I wouldnt let me my dad have full control. Like who even said that.

For me not only does my parents opinion matter, their decision on who I should marry is the biggest thing that I take into consideration. Not only because I’m Muslim but you have know that your dad, knows what’s best for you. He’s a player but you still would want to date him? 🙃🙄
