I was born in Germantown Hospital & I grew up in & worked in & around Philadelphia until I was about 30 years old & I just couldn't take it any longer...not only had I become quite a bit like this character myself, but I also had grown increasingly fed up & tired of all the other a-holes who were just like him (&, me). So many wannabe tough guys, looking to fight at the drop of a dime. It's been so long that I've lived back there, but to this day, out here in Southern California, when I'm at work & just starting my shift, people will ask me if I'm having a bad day, or if something is upsetting me--then, I have to explain, "No, I feel just fine. And, I'm actually in a good mood--in fact, I just started my shift." I never even bother to ask why someone might think I'm in a bad mood, when I'm not. It's only people who grew up in Philly & are now living out here in Cali who seem to naturally understand. I've tried to soften my tone & my ways over the years, but it's really one of those things you just can't quite ever totally get rid of--plus, I think I was also just born that way to some extent. Anyway, I sincerely am very glad to be away from it. The only thing I've ever truly missed over the years has been not being able to get a decent cheese steak-&, that's a lot to have given up!
