i heard the eldest son of the late national artist Felipe de Leon Sr. talk about his father's composition in a recent webinar. according to the son Prof Jun (in whose Humanities I class, btw, i sat as a young student in the 1970s), his father was inspired by the ending of WWII & the establishment of the UN thereafter; the composer made this song with so much hope for peace, world peace. note the 'structure of hope' in this hymn.

I love this song. I first heard it at a Christmas devotional sa pilipinas. Napaiyak ako noon, and even now I cry when I hear this beautiful song. I won’t forget the Philippines, such a beautiful country with even more wonderful people. Thankyou to the uploader.
My favorite song reminding me of our past predicament when I was a young. 1. We were reunited during a Salubong event Where the Resurrected Christ meets her Sorrowful mother at a Church in Mandaluyong mama's words "Jesus is still a child who loves his mother. Like you, I am with you all throughout your journey even if you ran away before I am still your mama." 2. When my sister lost all the money she had her friends left her and she just hugged me in the night I just told her "I am here my sweet sister I will stay and will not leave your side" 3. When my partner was shunned and banished from his home I have to take care of him. ❤️
And the good thing about it is that you don't have to wait 'til Christmas for you to listen to it because the theme is universal and is always relevant. :)

The claim that this was not originally a christmas song and that this was composed by F. de Leon after witnessing the bombings of Metro Manila during WW II has already been debunked by the composer's son, in one episode of PLAKA (Dec. 29, 2020) de Leon said that this song was composed in 1946 to commemorate the creation of UN (which the composer hoped to be a catalyst that will bring peace to the world hence the title). This version arranged by Lucio San Pedro omitted the 2nd part of the song which mentioned the birth of Christ.
This one is kind of hard since the notes are high as if we are in a choir. We are going to sing this on December 12,our school is having a program for our cantata. We are part of the Finalist so this is a real challenge for us since the notes are high.
