He strikes me as a fantastic player. I remember seeing him with the Crusaders on BBC's 'Rock goes to College' c.'79. To my mind, this programme was never repeated and doesn't seem to be available on YT. I do remember being very impressed at the time.

Crazy talent. His back-picking in the midst of his lines is unreal. So talented. I’d have to say the most virtuoso of the Crusaders’ guitarists even if his run with them was short. That’s saying a lot because Larry Carlton was so all-around great and Barry Finnerty had great chops and excellent taste. David T Walker was fantastic. They never were at a loss with their guitarists.

One of my instructors gave me Billy’s only jazz album (if my knowledge is correct). That he released. What a deadly player. I’m so happy to have listened to him as well as my teacher who said “you need to listen to this cat”
