Google what the building looks like, my college has like 7 buildings so it’s not that hard. Smaller college also means lots of people are gonna help. Ask around it’s not that embarrassing. We understand freshies have a tough time
Getting that orientation scheduled early is super important. My friend at sjsu got slapped with terrible professors cause he procrastinated and waited until the end of July 😅
I’m going into my junior year and this is my advice: -If you can, take AP/ IB’s or community college courses in high school / over summer!! This will save you money, or in my case, let me register for an apartment! Since my university does priority housing, had I not had AP credits from high school, the apartments would’ve been taken before I had my chance to register -Adding onto above tip, don’t be ashamed to go to a community college for a semester / year / whatever. Like you’ll save so much money oOf, and usually your state or whichever university you’re transferring to will have outlines of what credits will transfer for your program -Go into scheduling with a PLAN! And definitely use Rate My Professors to scope our your options - the subject doesn’t make the class, the teacher does, 100%. -As much as people say don’t take 8am’s, omg don’t take NIGHT CLASSES. You’ll be HUNGRY and TIRED and naturally stay up later which will lead to you being TIRED the next day -Stay organized with your classes, like use binders and organize ur notes, and especially remember due dates!! The app MyHomework rly helps me (not sponsored🤪🤪), or just set reminders -Talk about all the gritty stuff with your roommate FIRST (cleaning, sleep habits, visitors, dishes, studying) -Rent. Your. Textbooks. I made the mistake of buying used ones and like ??? now I literally have 5 random textbooks in my room i now have to worry about selling -Get an internship ASAP and join extracurriculars because we all know summa cum laude ain’t enough anymore😍😍 gotta be well rounded!! -In terms of studying don’t pull all nighters. Your brain still works while you’re sleeping, especially in terms of memorization. This is why a lot of people say to “sleep on it” if you’re trying to make a big decision - sleep is restorative and you should not compromise that time lmao k bye
Kylie DeProspo i’ll answer them for you lol 1. for me it was completely out of pocket, but i’m not sure if that applies to others 2. i’m not exactly sure what your asking but someone may lmao 3. i already had my own printer and brought i with me just to be extra and it actually helped me so much. i could stay in my room and not distract myself while studying. 4. DONT BRING YOUR CAR. speaking from personal experience, bringing my car was such a waste of time, you don’t really use it and in my case i had to pay for parking.
ALSO, if you decide to go to community college and it’s relatively close to home, it’s not worth it to live in their dorms if they have any. Most of the time they will be really gross and stingy. Live with parents.
1. Schedule your orientation asap and put classes back to back but dont schedule more than 3 back to back 2. Google maps for "directionally challenged" 3. Study alot, more than you think and more in advance than your used to 4. You and roommate are coming from different living situations, be considerate and respectful, dont overstep, keep your side neat, bring headphones, open blinds, dont cover fire alarms 5. Try to limit eating out, spend meal points before going out, avoid buying clothes unless necessary and specific 6. Dont buy textbooks until you know its necessary 7. Move in as early as possible 8. Come with a backpack pencils laptop and planner wait for anything else 9. Find friends with common ground 10. Dont go out alone, use college resources 11. Get involved early, sign up for three things first semester, join something that relates to major and helps communith, and something you relate to.

Don't take 8 am lectures unless you absolutely have to. The first year is always a learning curve, and waking up at a reasonable time to make it to a class at 8 am is just going to be a huge burden when you're just a freshman. Also, take your harder classes in the fall, you don't want to be stressed out with tough classes during the second half of the school year, when you just want to be enjoying the nice weather and taking a chill pill before classes end and summer comes around.
@@anastasiarossi7935 Hey! I’m a morning person in college. As much as 8 am classes are a pain if it allows you to be free in the afternoon than take it.
I was put in an 8 AM English class, and annoyed my academic advisor until they changed it! It's possible, even if you have to call and pester someone once a week
When you’re watching this video during quarantine to prepare for your first year of college in August and your orientation has been cancelled so I don’t even get the advice and help from advisors for signing up for classes!!! We love to see it!!!

I’m very nervous because I’m the first person in my family to go off to a university. And I have to commute from one city onto another 🤧 and I’m so nervous. I’m scared but I’m excited. Being a straight A student in high school, first generation college student and experiencing both University and college lifestyle, the best advice I can probably give you is go to a two year college first then transfer to a four year university, which is something I regret not doing and watching my best friend do. Now I'm starting all over again trying to raise my GPA to get to a program of my choice. Choose your major wisely, like something there are jobs for but wont make you miserable at the same time. Don't make choices based on what people expect of you, listen to yourself. But sometimes you learn the hard way and that's ok. I have to constantly remind myself that even though I'm behind everyone else, getting to the end goal is what matters most. I hope you consider my advice and do your own research!
Perfect timing I’m leaving in 2 weeks for my freshman year of college~ I’m excited but also worried so I love watching your videos to get advice or just see a bit of how it’s like!

Easiest way to make friends: leave your dorm room door open (unless you're in a suite with separate bedrooms) when you're in the room. That's how I made the majority of my friends. The people with open doors are often the most friendly.
My orientation this summer sucked ass. I thought that thing on the right was hair on my screen. I hate how one class is on the edge of a side of the campus, and the next is on the opposite side of that previous class, but also have to get there in 15 minutes and your college expects you to get there in 15 minutes.
I am doing my classes online. So it doesn’t have a time, I might honestly do online classes next year. Since Miss Rona and also because I do not have a car, working it’ll be less stressful. Good luck to everyone.💕

Who else felt or it seemed like there was a hair on your viewing screen???
I remember when she had 100k and literally was so happy, now look at you. Also thank you for the Barney clip.
i love you so much syd!! keep doing what you love and never let anyone come between you and your dreams!!
they didn’t let me pick the times of my classes this semester LMAO i love that for me
I absolutely loved this video! Keep shining! As a college advisor! Thanks for letting the freshies know !!!!
watching this as i’m sitting in the airport waiting for my flight to my first year of college 😍

Never heard a college student advocating the buddy system - straight up best advice!
Thank you for this Sydney! I'm staring college in 2 weeks and it kinda eased my anxiety a little bit so thank you :)
I thought that thing on the right was hair on my screen. I hate how one class is on the edge of a side of the campus, and the next is on the opposite side of that previous class, but also have to get there in 15 minutes and your college expects you to get there in 15 minutes.
i was literally just freaking out about college and then this just popped up in my feed. thank you for this
I’m starring college in like 2 weeks, anyone else starting school soon??
Yeah in the beginning of September
I move in on the 15th 😩
Kristbjörg Harpa Thomsen oh well you’ve got a little bit more time but still pretty soon

You’re such a vibe. Your videos are never boring. I love it!
ill be rewatching this in 4 years but... i’m gonna watch it now too :)
I am doing my classes online. So it doesn’t have a time, I might honestly do online classes next year. Since Miss Rona and also because I do not have a car, working it’ll be less stressful. Good luck to everyone.💕
moving in Friday so I definitely needed this for my freshman year
I’m going to be a freshman at the university of Michigan! So thank you for all the helpful advice❤️❤️ (also go blue!)
