I played this machine in Las Vegas when we met up with my grandparents back in August, 1979. My grandfather was watching me play Boot Hill, and he pointed out that it was playing Taps at the end. That trip was the last time I saw my grandfather before his final days in November 1979.
My question is, how do you get the game to play the "where the deer and the antelopes play" bit at the beginning? I thought it was supposed to play when you began.
So cool how they scale the chuck wagon down as it moves up the screen to make it look like it’s going up the dirt road to the cemetery. It’s pretty cool how these early games were designed specifically to be played on painted or projected backgrounds.
This machine was made in the 70s, and color graphics were difficult to do because computer memory was limited. So the only color available was white. There are a number of arcade games that use a physical background to give color and detail to the image without using computer graphics.
They basically took Gun Fight and made it more visually interesting...peppers-ghosting the image onto a bas-relief hill inside the cabinet. At the time, videogames were still a new thing, and a bunch of pixelated white images on a black screen couldn't compete with the day-glow colors of many of the mechanical games available.
3:01 Day is done, gone the sun, from the lake, from the hills, from the sky, all is well, safely rest, God is nigh. Back in 1979, my grandfather saw me playing Boot Hill and said "That's Taps." But I didn't know until 3 years later that it had lyrics when I heard Taps in summer camp.
Wow! Memory lane. My dad had taken me to a political convention, and me and the son of one of his friends stayed up past midnight at the hotel playing this. Was probably around 1978.
Is there a modern day version of this or something similar? I enjoyed playing this as a kid but the graphics need an upgrade even just a little bit lol.

I played this game at a bowling alley almost 40 years ago.
Same here. Those were the good ol days
It's funny stuff of how the Chuck wagon strolls by; while the town Marshall and the outlaw, try to be the fastest gun.
Loved playing this game at various Arcades back in the day.
plus Shark Attack and Space Invaders & Defender

It is nice that the emulator simulates the reflected playfield.
I dumped piles of quarters into this machine.
The shadow of Pong loomed large over pre-1978 video games, the bullets just had to be bouncing Pong dots.

I loved playing this on summer holidays in the UK!

Really funny game! I play this with my friend no much time ago! Like for you men!
I didn't know Gun Fight had a sequel! O_O

I found it! I remember this game, lol. I remember the music when you’re shot dead 💀
I remember playing this game at an RV park arcade near Disneyland with my brother back in 1980, and beating him 12-1!
Reminds me of the Odyssey 2 game, Showdown in 2100 A.D.
The Godfather of Outlaw. I would really not mind having this machine.
This turns out to be the very first game with music.
I played this one; good game.
Which Emulator do I need for the reflected playfield? My background is black
This may or may not be the first game in stereo.
Well thats a pretty ambiguous statement dont you think !!

I remember it at Blackpool too, coral island and pleasure beach
Pontins, Prestatyn for me.
@@WereReallyRelayCamping yes I mind the Dr Who exhibition! Other arcade games I liked were Seawolf and missile

How can I find this music when the player is shot dead?
One is taken from 'Marche Funèbre' by Frédéric Chopin. I can't help you with the other, I'm afraid.
It's funny stuff all right.
Red Dead Redemption 1977 colourized
This is a knock off of outlaw on Atari 2600.
Outlaw is a knockoff of this.
