I hope the writers build up their relationship and allow them to be more romantically involved with one another and not mess it up by bringing back the dead. Nathan has been faithful to Elizabeth for a long time, even when she moved on with Lucas. So writers cut Nathan a break and let him enjoy the woman that he loves.❤
I just don’t understand how the Lucas fans never saw how these two have always looked at each other. It was there from the beginning. Like Elizabeth said in her monologue/confession it was always his eyes she looked for across a room. You could see it even when she was with Lucas. Nathan is her great love, even greater than Jack.
Everything Elizabeth said in her poetic profession of love to Nathan was drawn from what was seen throughout the seasons between these two especially looking for his eyes across a room. The way they enjoyed doing “life” things together and she was smiling just being herself (whether angry, laughing, or talking about feelings) is because he feels like home to her. They have always picked up when something is bothering the other and they have definitely challenged one another. All of these things are not a reconstruction of a love story. This is their story from S6 onward.
I was a Lucas fan and still am. I noticed but I also knew how much her character did not like Jack being in the position he was. I do remember the scene where Nathan was willing to give up his profession for her and that was something not even Jack was willing to do. She never even gave Nathan a chance even when Lucas let her go to make her decision. It was fear and I actually felt bad for Nathan but Lucas was kind and cared about her and his loyalty was there so when she decided to be with Lucas it made sense in some ways. Although why not be with Charles if she wanted someone refined. I felt even when they were friends she would look at Nathan and give him mixed signals. I was not on board with comments that Nathan was a snake in the grass. He clearly loved Elizabeth and openly said so. The person he loved would smile and him and give him hope. So even though I liked the idea of Elizabeth and Lucas now that she came to the realization that she only pushed Nathan away because she was too afraid to lose him it is a good story line and I rooted for him as well as most other Lucas fans. Sad that she strung Lucas along of course but he is a loyal character and hopefully he can find love too in Hope Valley or Capital City.

When she chided Lucas, I was bummed because I could not make it make sense. To me, they really did not write a love story for Elizabeth and Lucas until S9. Though I did not believe Lucas was the one for Elizabeth, I thought the writers did a pretty good job of writing them a story together but there were cracks showing-Elizabeth could not stay away from Nathan. And when she was with him, it was all eyes on him, even sometimes to the exclusion of Lucas’s presence nearby (like when walking and talking to Nathan and not one glance at Lucas as she passed in one episode). She was now finding reasons to hug him. She was calling upon him (like checking on Lucas when he went to camp). Like I said, Signs. Because I like Lucas, I really felt for him when E broke it off with him at the train station. Throughout S11, I have rooted for Lucas and hoped he would be a successful Governor and wanted him to find someone who could give him ALL of her heart. He is a good man and deserves that. Plus, I would like to see a story of him falling in love (not winning the girl). A story where he is so in love that he is willing to give up what he holds dear like with Nathan and Mounties. I would like him to have a love that challenges him and he challenges her; one where he is the one that holds her attention no matter who else is around and one that he opens up to and allows her to see his vulnerabilities and imperfections like Nathan would do with Elizabeth. It is there. I just don’t think the writers have tapped into it yet.

It only took 5 or was that 6 seasons for Jack and Elizabeth to get married. Well we will see how many seasons they can squeeze out of Nathan and Elizabeth. It was 3 seasons with Lucas and Elizabeth…break up almost married! I enjoy WCTH. Season 11 has been awesome, but you know they are going to try to stretch this out for maybe 2 or 3 more seasons. Elizabeth is almost past child bearing age. But great video, with an awesome song. Molasses, yep! That about how slow they move on WCTH and Elizabeth love life. Lol! 😂🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪❤️
I hope they move Nathan and Elizabeth romance faster than they did for Elizabeth and Jack. I so want to see Nathan and Elizabeth married making a home raising their kids together!
Not arguing the point, just adding some clarification here-I wouldn’t say it was 3 seasons with Lucas. Not when you consider the continued struggle with her feelings with Nathan in S8, even after that infamous episode when she ran from his declaration of love. She finally ran to Lucas at the end of S8. Yes, season9 was developing a love story between E and L and ending in an engagement. But pretty soon in S 10, you started to sense some shifting in the E and L dynamic as little things began to give E a clue that she and L had different perspectives on what they wanted out of life; not to mention that she never stopped seeking Nathan out(even in S9) and how many times between 9 and 10 did she find a reason to hug Nathan? Nathan never stopped being a big part of her life. And no, he was not actively pursuing her. He remained very respectful of the fact that they were just friends now. This whole arc between N and E just made for a great love story. But how many people have fallen in love and gotten married while they tried to find love for Elizabeth? Lol! But you know-For the love she and Jack had and the devastation of his death, 5-6 years isn’t unreasonable for her to finally love with her whole heart again.❤
