  • In this episode, I'm solo exploring an abandoned western theme park in the Adirondack Mountain Range- Frontier Town. The park opened in 1952 and operated for over 30 years, where cowboy shootouts and fake bank robberies were carried out for entertainment. Live animals walked the grounds, and concessions were spread out amongst the different sections for the park. In 1998, Frontier Town closed for good and the grounds have been disputed over for more than 25 years. Let's explore!

    Visited on school field trips. I still have a souvenir. Mid '60's.

      Super curious what the souvenir is- wish I got to see this place in an un-abandoned state. Hope you enjoyed!

    Wow! I know exactly where this is; I used to stop by every now and then. Unfortunately I missed the opportunity to go there when it was still open. This place has really started to become unrecognizable! 😢

      Just looking at pictures from a few years ago shocked me, this place is destroyed. I was so sad the main signs were gone on the outlet buildings

    My husband and I went through exploring this on our honeymoon 15 years ago before it was changed into a campground or state park or whatever it is lol. It’s nice to see how much more to decay is there now

      I promise, though once I get it all settled I would love to show you the pictures and send them to you. You definitely would like to see mine compared to what you got going on. Everything was still standing.

    In the early 80s, Johnny Cash performed there, I was there when I was probably 8 or 10 to see it. It was the biggest thing that happened to the town in a long time. They tried to bring it back by having concerts to raise money, the Cash show was one of the few that would work without being paid first, from what I heard anyway. It didn't work and it was gone shortly later. I wish I could find my photos.

    By the way, the frontier town sign that used to be there was bought by the leather outlets just before you get to Lake George. I think it’s on route 9N

      @@TheLukeExplores a lot of stuff got sold off before they left. Did you get to see the A-frame hotel? Was that still there when you were there? That was pretty cool we weren’t able to get inside of there.

    It's driving me nuts that you keep saying it was a bike track. It was a old west cowboy theme park

    • @TheLukeExplores
      @TheLukeExplores  5 месяцев назад

      Oh I’m so sorry that’s driving you nuts!!!! According to plenty of research and talking to people who have been there this was a multi use track. And if you’re referring to the entire park which I was not then that was also used for multi use!!! (Including horseback riding, truck riding, buggies, stagecoaches, bucking broncos, and multi use rodeo arena!! So so sorry for driving you nuts!

      @@firefighterpilchen I’ve watched multiple videos of people saying different things. I’ve also talked to people you used to go here and spent time here when they were younger. Unfortunately I never got to go myself, but a quick google search and a little digging uproots the fact there was a bike track as well as a multi use track on the property. Not arguing with you about it! Just going off of what I’ve read and heard because at the end of the day I never had the privilege of going there myself. Obviously it was a western theme park- it’s literally in the title of the video. Wish I got to go a few years back when it wasn’t in such a dilapidated state
