You've missed the reason WHY the UK bowed to Iceland in the Cod Wars:
Iceland's location is extremely strategic as it lies on the way to Russian arctic. In the Cod Wars, Iceland simply threatened to withdraw from NATO, and the US told UK to leave Iceland's claimed maritime zone.

@@tvuser9529 More like "TL", but it's not entirely consistent. Sometimes it's more like we would say a double L in English (for example the "ll" in "Snæfellsnes" is pronounced more or less as it would be in English, but with the sound coming from closer to the tip of your tongue, rather than the rear of it). And sometimes (particularly at the end of words) it's more like a "t", followed by a voiceless aspiration that sounds more like an English "sh" than an "L", but there isn't really any way to accurately spell out how it sounds in English.
"Eyjafjallajokull" sounds pretty much like AEY-yah-FYAT-tla-YO-kutsh.
In order to make sense of the double "L" including a mysterious "T" sound, I recommend trying to pronounce the "L" on the tip of your tongue rather than gutturally. Then say "LLLLLLLLL", with each L making a distinct sound. Notice how each L will be separated by a distinct tapping sound, like a "t", but formed by your tongue against your gums, rather than through closed teeth.

In WWII Iceland lost 230 people to the war. This might not seem to be a lot - but the population only numbered about 140 thousand at the end of the war. The percentage lost to the war was therefore about .17% whereas the United States (for example) lost .30%. In other words, Iceland's per capita losses (mostly among sailors and fishermen killed by U-boats and aircraft) were about half those of the United States. It is worth noting that the Icelandic deaths were all among civilians - probably exceeding the per capita civilian death toll of most other countries ...

When at 9:50 you say Iceland has had a democracy for one thousand years you are only partially correct. What is now Iceland's parliament, Alþingi, was founded in 930 AD where the major landowners in Iceland had most of the voting power, it was more of an oligarchy. Then under the norwegian, later danish, rule Alþingi lost most of it's powers. When Iceland started to get home rule Alþingi was reinstated.

If Iceland was instead allied to China and US/Canada/UK was invading, the fact its surrounded by so much ocean would be a non-sequiter.

I am not sure it's as easy as you try to portray it to be. Because it's so strategically relevant, the Brits and later Americans occupied Iceland during WWII and controlled its exports to Germany AGAINST Iceland's wishes for neutrality. Sure, they're prob glad they werent in the German (or later Soviet sphere), but they had no say in this either. No army, no choice. Their location might make them immune to the need for its own army, but it does not make them immune to foreign occupation or becoming a theatre of war.
EDIT: I agree, people should get medals for pronouncing that volcano's name. Also yes, the US put a lot of pressure on the UK to stop the cod wars. Just as they undermined the UK a few other times.

The fishing industry has become our biggest curse. There's only a handful of families that control the fish and they make billions from it. The constant instability of our currency works in their interest as most of the fish is sold to other countries, so if the Króna gets weaker they get more of it when the buyers pay the same price. In 2012 the nation voted and over 65% accepted a new constitution that would change this, however the officials in government who are owned by the fishing companies refuse to honour it, something that has created a lot of tension the past decade. We have a minister of finance that has a massive conflict of interest due to his involvement in the financial industry, to the point where he has told his relatives to buy certain cheap companies just weeks before he himself enacted new laws that made said companies worth significantly more almost overnight. We have a government littered with corruption and we are way to small of a nation to do anything about it.
But we sure are peaceful, eh?

I disagree. Reason: Iceland's highly strategic location in the Atlantic. In fact, the capital of Reykjavík and the main airport at Keflavík would be first strike targets in order to deny the use of Iceland as a base to operate long-range NATO planes used for anti-submarine and anti-shipping duties.

Granted, most Countries absolutly need a military for deterence and as a prevention so to say. Sweden and Finland are very good examples, as well as Taiwan or South Korea.
However it really isn't that suprising that the most peaceful nation just happens to be a country LIKE Iceland. First reason being the isolation mentioned in the video Then again iceland doesn't even have the opportunity of building a big military (since the demographics can't really support it, 400k total inhabitants ain't many). And then Iceland has no massive ideological, geographic or religious conflicts going on. And thanks to a functioning democracy it isn't likely to experience civil unrest any time soon.
A Country LIKE this is practically forced as well as encouraged to play their dimplomacy cards optimaly. To ensure safety. By being in Nato and allying with many other big powers as well they play an international mediator role. The risk of gambling this beneficial cooperation with iceland away and the influence a power would loose there by declaring a territorial or ressource war is likely not worth the risk(or any other war for that matter).
This is what makes iceland actually somewhat safe.
      Conclusion:
So I'm not saying it wouldn't be possible for the most peaceful country being one with a military presence.
I just think it is not certain enough so ,to be genuinly suprised by that fact that this isn't the case.
