When the Moplahs of Kerela started the genocide of Hindus in Kerela, Gandhi refrained from condemning the Moplas strongly. He did condemn the violence but it was very muted. In the middle of the genocide, Gandhi gave a speech and said that Hindus had an obligation to remain “non-violent".
