I did think it was funny that Irlene never got any solos. I’m not even sure it was her voice. It was a pretty big show and was only stopped early because Barbara was worn out by the tv schedule. Good memories.
I was ten when this was on and I remember my parents always joking that Erlene had no talent, couldn’t sing couldn’t play an instrument so they set her behind the drums. Louis really was the prettiest and just as talented as Barbara. And she had the good kind of 80’s hair.
@@stephaniefromvirginia8744 We always said the same thing - “Well, at least Irlene is pretty.” Bwahaha. She’s actually pretty smart and a crackerjack markswoman and archer. She ranks very high in shooting and bow championships.
Back when music was real and the women weren't squeezing themselves into dresses two sizes too small to try and look sexy. These ladies had natural beauty and didn't have to pretend.
charlton myers irline and barbera are both very accomplished instrumentalists,in fact, irline is 1 of the best drummers ive ever heard, and barbera is a professional on about 12 different instruments.plus barbera and louise both have beautiful singing voices, and irline is very funny.they had a class act.they are 3 very classy beautiful women.i cannot say enough good things about all 3 of them.with the mandrell sisters you definitely get 3 for the price of 1! In barberas' book she said she couldn't have been luckier when it came to parents, and I read somewhere where both her parents said they couldn't have asked for better daughters! im inclined to agree on all counts!
@AKM I grew up on Barbara’s variety show as I was only three years old back when the show first began in November 1980. I have been a fan of Barbara’s ever since then and still am a fan of hers even though she retired in 1997. I also had the best of of the variety show on DVD and actually they were nine episodes total over the course of the three desks. I did ask somebody if they thought we would ever see the light of day of the complete series ever being released on DVD and possibly also Blu-ray uncut and everything and they said no because a lot of the numbers that Barbara and her sisters did were basically cover versions of other artists songs and a lot of times studios have problems getting TV shows or music released because of copyright issues
_Remember 40 million people tuned in weekly to see 'Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters' show. (Barbara was originally set to due five years, but sadly after two years, the show ended). According to her book, 'Get To The Heart', the extreme Hollywood schedule of doing the show, started affecting her voice. My parents and I watched every single show, and I still enjoy seeing them here on RUclips._
I think later on this show had puppets on it every week and I remember Minnie Pearl was on one show and a puppet said he used to date her I always remembered that ... lol....
@Dave Wollenberg, it was not a strange reason that Barbara always wore her hair up only for the gospel medley‘s, sometimes she would have her hairstyle differently for different numbers that she did with both her sisters or four when she sang one of her hit songs in a segment.
I remember her singing with Gary Coleman on a NBC Christmas special. That's the first time I ever heard her do a solo. She may have done some during her time on Hee Haw.
Irlene only acted dumb for the show, in reality she like Barbara and Louise is very smart. You have to realize that pretty much most of the series was scripted like any other TV series that is on television. Today Irlene does in fact sang and has had an album released. It was just that both Barbara and Louise were the far more famous two of the three Mandrell sisters
The Mandrell sisters were never sexualized. I don’t know what you’re thinking or what you’re watching but they never sexualized Barbara and her sisters
I watched this show when I was a kid! Such clean beautiful and classy ladies! I miss wholesome family entertainment!!!
Having been a teen in 70s I prefer watching the older 📺 shows for the nostalgia. Today's offerings put me to 💤 sleep...😴
Wholesome times. Way better than the shit today.
Back when you didn't need to censor shows for children.
My uncle Bob Henry was the director
The Good Lord definitely blessed this family to have created such beautiful graceful ladies like that.
Oh how i love memory lane.
Lord Jesus if we could still have these kinds of ladies today.
Looking back, I really appreciate how good and entertaining this show is and the efforts put in.
We never missed this show at our house. Good stuff
R.C. Bannon and Louise look like such a pretty couple I wished they had stay together for life.
Jon "Bowser" Bauman just showed up everywhere, didn't he?
I haven't seen these episodes since I was a kid. I used to love when the puppets made an appearance. Thanks for posting.

I was in love with Irlene. I thought she was gorgeous & I always had a thing for female drummers.
I was ten when this was on and I remember my parents always joking that Erlene had no talent, couldn’t sing couldn’t play an instrument so they set her behind the drums.

They certainly were lookers in their time.
I just love Barbara, she is so talented and such a great singer and so are her sisters
Monique DeSart! NOT NOW MADELEINE!!!!
Texas woman 😍

Thanks you so much for all the Mandrell posts I love them!
They seem to have an appreciation of soul and gospel, with REUNITED and the medley in the end.
God , family, country. God bless the USA ! I miss these days
Love TN Ernie Ford
Loved watching the show. They were as popular as Dallas & Dallas was my favorite prime time show back then. ❤
I always thought Louise was the prettiest of the three. Her dark hair was so gorgeous!
Um no, Barbara is the prettiest
Empirically, Louise is the prettiest, agreed. All three are gorgeous, so it’s hard to pick. 😁
Such wholesome family entertainment. I miss those days.
I loved this show
Had the biggest crush on Irlene, as a 17 year old. She just gets prettier with time!

They have a “Best Of” but there are only six episodes. Still, better than nothing! I ordered it yesterday.

I had a huge crush on Louise when I was a kid, lol.
Wait..so you’re telling me these are all different women?? 😂 Love me some Mandrell. ❤️
Damn! Those jeans were painted on. Today's jeans don't have
that look. Very sexy women indeed.
Jordache Jeans, baby!
They were all very nice.

Did this ever make it to dvd?I haven't seen since I was 8.

PICO T QUINTOS: As a U.S. artist, what did RC stand for?
Louise Barbra Ilene please if there is a god.
is there a way to upload season 1 episode 14 with Pendergrass and mickey
I think later on this show had puppets on it every week and I remember Minnie Pearl was on one show and a puppet said he used to date her I always remembered that
... lol....
Early appearance of Bill Kirchenbauer.
Too bad Irlene Mandrell didn't have any talent other than looking attractive
She’s actually a champion markswoman and archer.
Louise
Tank you Barbara
For some strange reason, Barbara liked to wear her hair up, for the gospel medleys.
@Dave Wollenberg, it was not a strange reason that Barbara always wore her hair up only for the gospel medley‘s, sometimes she would have her hairstyle differently for different numbers that she did with both her sisters or four when she sang one of her hit songs in a segment.
1:50 Hahaaaaaa, ok one of the best jokes!!...... "And I am short... like February".....
Irlene was my first celebrity crush. I was four years old and would always get mad when they would leave her out of musical numbers.
Why didn't Irlene ever sing?? She also always acted so clumsy.
I remember her singing with Gary Coleman on a NBC Christmas special. That's the first time I ever heard her do a solo. She may have done some during her time on Hee Haw.
Irlene only acted dumb for the show, in reality she like Barbara and Louise is very smart. She acted clumsy and unsophisticated because that was just her shtick. She actually was just as smart and talented as Barbara and Louise.
Love the horse.
They were my tv girlfriends! Lol 😂
Why did they feel the need to sexualize themselves?
If you're hot, why not show it a bit? They weren't bumping and grinding all over the floor or stripper poles like female singers do today
The Mandrell sisters were never sexualized. I don’t know what you’re thinking or what you’re watching but they never sexualized Barbara and her sisters
I'm related to Barbara mandrell
What are you? Her 7th cousin?
I had just figured out that im not related to her:(
Well, look on the bright side, at least you can fantasize about her and not feel awkward.
i miss this show
