Love this! It’s “only” been 25 years since I last compiled a 68k Mac app I wrote. 😄 Sincerely, thank you for this. You teach this very well, and I’m enjoying it a great deal. I think I might have to dive back in and have some fun in the 1-bit Mac world again.
I remember when I first got Think C for the Macintosh... I thought there was too many simplistic games, and more full featured games needed to be made... then I realized the work needed to do advanced games was so much more then on the 8bit computers I had programmed on before. I still have a few of those books you were showing :)
yep, game programming is humbling to say the least. aim realistic, or aim for a gaming vignette as a 1-person operation I say! My favorites is the red primer book for mundane toolbox mac stuff and just inside macintosh for the sheer old schoolness of pre Mac Plus era and about how useful it is when you have to descend on tinkering level.
Thank you for this video and series! I have been planning a hobby project for a Mac adventure game, but was super unsure of where to begin. The old programming books can be a bit daunting~ This is super approachable and definitely answered some of my questions. I hope to see this through to the end ^^
Thanks for the kind comment. I wish you best of luck in your project! You may want to start getting a barebones text version of your game while you get comfortable with the platform, then add in the graphical part after the fact by juggling those ANSI->Mac Traps libraries
Don't sell yourself short! With the links, I make it possible to get a disk containing the end of the video's code and easily modify bits here and there to have fun at tweaking it without any heavy lifting.

You're so welcome! Would love to see what you come up with.
Super well constructed vid. So helpful. Thank you!
Well done!
Excellent video and a must watch! Thanks for sharing
Thanks, Rudy!

Super cool but way above my pay grade
