What a brilliant tour. I have just started to build in Oberland after getting an XBox Series X recently. Mine is far more brutal-concrete build and I much prefer your 'lived-in' approach. Also lovely to find a streamer from the UK - I'm in Oxfordshire. One thing that I struggle with are stairways in tight spaces so I have been especially interested in looking at how you build stairs in and around your buildings. Such an inspiring channel and a gentle guide through too. Thank you!

Just happened across your RUclips channel today, I'm really enjoying it. I'm getting the itch to jump back in to finish/carry on building my Settlements. Sadly, I'd given into MODs, but MODs to just clean up the Settlements and include particular building parts like stairs that you see around the game. I got tired of the bushed and weeds sticking through everything (I'm just too compulsive for it all now), so started a fresh play-through, collecting clothes from characters over and over again etc. lol
In Fallout 5, I do hope we get the option to properly clean up an area, flatten it out etc. etc., like a building site, provided you've materials/tools, say. Whenever it's out, but it'll be after The Elder Scrolls VI (hope they do Settlement Building in that also). Anyway, you've certainly peaked my interest, so I'll hopefully be jumping back in soon. :) I also like looking for inspiration in building ideas; made my own BBQ without MODs also, so I might have to share that.
Since you can rack up US Post uniforms and hats (clean/dirty) through the game, what about a Post Office Settlement that deals with packages and supplies, perhaps working as a central hub for several Settlements?

      Glad you found us!
I'm building with mods too these days. Almost all my personal gameplay and building are on modded playthroughs now.
With the exception of Coastal Cottage (which was a new build sponsored by a viewer ), all these no-mod builds are OLD. Most of them needed a bit of work and finishing off but they were all mostly done in the days before mods.
I got to the same point you did that the junk in the settlements was driving me crazy, so the scrapping mods came first and it grew from there. Modded builds will come to the channel at some point ( If it survives that long lol )
I do have a build that is a bit like the hub you mentioned. It's one I haven't put up because it's at Starlight and I didn't want to repeat any locations yet. It's part of a series of themed settlements, it could be out last quarter 24 ( again if the channel survives that long lol )

Amazing building and designing job! The guard walkways above the market reminds me the ones at Nuka World. Well done! The lore friendly builds are the only interesting ones for me. I too will use the setting dictate the building materials. If the settlement is near railroad tracks (such as Oberland Station, Starlight Drive-in, Tenpines Bluff), then I'll allow myself to use the railway cars. If the settlement is near a vault (such as with Sanctuary) I'll allow some vault decorations and furniture (too pretty and clean otherwise to fit the more gritty Wasteland). I'll use fishing/nautical themes and decoration on settlements near water such as Taffington Boathouse, Kingsport Lighthouse, Egret Tours Marina, Nordhagen Beach...

I don't use Sanctuary much in playthroughs anymore myself and when I do build there I tend to build on top of the houses rather than repair them. I like to build living quarters off the ground as much as possible.
If you really want to repair the houses you can put roofs, walls and floors in by using the rug and pillar glitches. I have a series of tips videos here on the channel that will give you a good starting point in how those technics work.
Hope that helps a bit, welcome to the game and to the channel.

I have been running around downtown with a whole host of companions, fighting a horde of enemies and crashes are extremely rare.
In hundreds of hours of gameplay, I've had two crashes! Just two!

Hi Mario, the quest can be triggered in a number of ways. If you haven't had it as a radiant quest from your faction, then talk to one of the two NPC's.
They will give a quest to gain their trust. It's sometimes the usual clear X location of X enemy that is harrasing them. I often have one of the two NPC's go missing and you gain a quest to rescue them by talking to the other.
