There is a wonderful play put on in Oregon maybe 20 years ago called "Ghosts of Cellilo" and it tells the story of the falls, second only to Niagra and the customs of 6 tribes who fished
the falls every year on platforms & made dipnets. The fish were huge & fed lots of families all year. The Dalles Dam covered the falls, but they still are there under the high water. I am
so glad to see this beautiful video of people still fishing in the old way and catching beautiful big salmon.

On the Klamath river tribal lands they extend a gill net from bank to bank and take every fish over 4" in girth....the downfall in salmon numbers is directly tied to the native Americans taking all the spawning fish out of the rivers.

When a native does it in they're homeland its "not right" and "over fishing" or "poaching" but when white people do it its perfectly fine ive watched more videos of white people dipnetting in Alaska then any native in the lower states and obviously we are out numbered by the white fisherman and its not just the white people either each year there are more and more people fishing you can see non natives that are fishing shoulder to shoulder on almost every river when us natives have the same rivers boundaries that we cant fish past an we cant use fish finders like the people on boats do
