Tony you're a bad 🐈 on the keys, you always prove to me that no matter how great, creative and free I become in my playing I'm always inspired when I hear your interpretation of a song because you always have something hip to say.

Thanks, Tony! I got caught with this one at a jazz jam last night and wished I'd been better able to get it just from reading the lead sheet. Wanted to spend a little time and figure out exactly what's going on musically because it's not quite as simple as a casual listening would suggest. Thank you for taking it apart and commenting, it helps. Had never realized how much of a 2-5-1 exercise it is. :)

I wouldn't want to play this at a jam because there is so much disagreement on the chord progression.

Thanks Olivia, I've been working on once I loved. I always played it in Dm but I noticed that A. Gilberto sings it in F# minor. (first chord Bm) The new real book has it in her key so I'll start with that one. Hopefully I'll shoot the video this weekend. Great song I haven't covered yet.

Here Brasil, there's a program on every day at midnight Called Cultura Jazz which I've been listened for about 35 years, to the Cultura FM 103.3. This music will aways be a part of my regrets. Thank you, Tony for present this one as diffrents alternatives upon the view of Jazz time. Escuse my english; I prefer to write in this language; so I fell closer than you all. 😎 🇧🇷

Try Bbmaj7#5/Eb. The maj7th is under the root (Bb). It’s easier to see if you play maj7th about the #5. Remove the Eb to see it. Then put it back to play it. Thanks for the great vid Tony.

I learned this in C a few years from I think a "George Shearing" book. The Stan Tracey version is Nuts!! search "Tracey/Wellins play Monk. (Stan Tracey piano & Bobby Wellins who was a great sax player). You handle the black notes well. I can get to Eb really well but after that it gets hard for me. (in all 12 keys! Geeze, that's hard, at least for me. I can play tunes in about 4 - 5 keys tops!). Check out the "Stan Tracey" voicings on this. Would be great to hear your take on his voicings. Ugly or Genius?
