    I'm old and did the early Key West Race weeks, this brought back many memories. Great work, a thrill for me to watch.

    Watched them douse the spinnaker @11:50 two or three times, and I still can't quite get my head around how it was done so quickly. Is there a huge vacuum cleaner in the hatch??

      Dropline and a highspeed winch

      @@WinWindowS.K.Julian Thanks. It's taken a few videos to figure it out. I suspect that, as most everything below deck is of a proprietary nature (a big secret) they don't really want to let the cameras in to too many areas. Cheers.

      @@spacesaverbob ruclips.net/video/w3st365oLJc/видео.html I guess platoon has the same system, it's a massive carbon drum pulling the dropline, plus a free carbon roller at the hatch entrance so that the sail smoothly rounds the corner

      @@matthiafox Ah! Thanks. Now I get it. Very cool.

    That crank handle the guy in the middle keeps turning....what's that attached to? One of the winches?

    • @quantumsails
      @quantumsails  3 года назад +1

      Yes. It is a pedestal grinder that can switch to various winches as needed for particular maneuvers or trimming needs.
