Busy, commercial Downtown Portland is known for its shops, art galleries, music venues, and trendy restaurants, especially on and around Congress Street. The Portland Museum of Art showcases works by Maine and international artists, and the nearby Children's Museum has science- and play-based exhibits. The grand City Hall building dates from 1912, and nearby Lincoln Park features walking trails and a fountain.
