Yep, that's still the common one in those parts. Montana too. I'm still trying to find the name of line dance version we did to Mony Mony by Billy Idol though. Can't find it online.
I am in Colorado and was taught the Oklahoma version but we always had more energy in it especially going backwards. Someone was always getting us hyped up!
The way everyone I know does it is a huge jumble of what these are. Idk where the one I learned came from but the one we do is *heel heel, toe toe, cross ur leg to the front and tap, cross ur leg to back and tap, swing a rope above ur head, clap, turn, repeat*
Native Oklahoman here, the Oklahoma one is the right steps when your learning. It's usually somewhere between a quick jog and a sprint during the skip and during the kicks you're trying to go backward as far as you can. You have two groups going slow in the center faster on the outside.
Funny thing, I’m from Arizona and moved to Pennsylvania. I was the only one at my school dance who didn’t know this song cause I just heard Spanish songs growing up 🤣🤣🤣
I knew it! I learned the OK version in KS but I couldn’t find anyone else who does it that way till now! I was starting to think it was only my high school.
As a Texan who has had this song played at every wedding I've ever attended in my LIFE! The only Texas version I or anyone else knows is what this video calls the Oklahoma version
I learned a different way then all of these 😂 I did right heel twice forward(on the ground) right heel backward Then right foot forward, let it hit your hand, then same for back. Then I’d walk left, clap, then spin around. Back to the starting position. Then I’d do the same but opposite. Left heel twice forward and back Then hit the left foot forward and back Then walk right, clap, and spin back to the start. This is the way that you’d do it near Little Rhodey, and Some of Massachusetts
I see none of mine 1:Clap on the instrumental 2:Do the Texas move of the feet “kick up 2 times, kick back 2 times” 3:Walk up and clap 4:Spin around with fist in hand 5:Repeat till song is over
Texas is actually more like Oklahoma's cept you are in a single file line that's made into a circle. Not sure where they saw their Texas version, but it sure wasn't what we do here
why am i literally watching this at midnight? i live in greece
This video made it to the UK too
just another yeemo must distract yourself from the Financial crisis idk
Same
Aren’t we all
😂😂😂
The way the *Texas version* doubles the front/rear touch and adds the jump (2:12) is what makes it so fun to watch!
Heel tap, heel tap, toe tap, toe tap, outstep, cross in front touch, outstep, cross behind touch, repeat
The Texas version is the best!
Yup
Born and raised in texas and my whole family dances the Oklahoma way lol. Never knew there were different ways to dance to it.
Me too! These kids in Ohio don’t know what they’re talking about 😜
Also from Texas and have only seen the"Oklahoma" version
Man who ever does the texas one will break a leg
That's why you wear your boots for balance, and to not break your foot from stomping so hard lol .
Texas is so extra lol
I did it with my recently-snapped cruciated ligament and all 😂.
Not dead yet.
@@chexlex1316 well i just wore hi tops cause i’m a boy and its awkward to wear boots lmao
As someone who learned the Texas version and can still do it out of muscle memory, it's the right one 😂
Texas is most similar to what I learned.
Punxsutawney Phyllis Productions I would have to learn that slowly at first.
Same and I'm in Ohio?

I’ve lived in Washington state and Utah and in both places we did the “Canter’s Cave” version. Granted I was a teenager from 2007-2013.
Yep, that's still the common one in those parts. Montana too. I'm still trying to find the name of line dance version we did to Mony Mony by Billy Idol though. Can't find it online.
Finally, someone showing the version (Canter's Cave) I learned as a youth at church dances! Thank you for sharing!

I am in Colorado and was taught the Oklahoma version but we always had more energy in it especially going backwards. Someone was always getting us hyped up!

the texas version is my two brain cells in class
The way everyone I know does it is a huge jumble of what these are. Idk where the one I learned came from but the one we do is *heel heel, toe toe, cross ur leg to the front and tap, cross ur leg to back and tap, swing a rope above ur head, clap, turn, repeat*

I knew it! I learned the OK version in KS but I couldn’t find anyone else who does it that way till now! I was starting to think it was only my high school.
State of Virginia here, the one we know keeps you on one leg the entire time. It’s probably the most similar to Texas but still pretty different
As a Texan who has had this song played at every wedding I've ever attended in my LIFE! The only Texas version I or anyone else knows is what this video calls the Oklahoma version
