Introduction to the 2nd Edition Star Wars X-Wing Miniatures Game

It's time to continue our X-Wing Miniatures series with an introduction to the ill-conceived 2nd edition; from the surprise announcement to the mass exodus of 1st edition players, to the absolute failure of the conversion kits, to the transition from Fantasy Flight Games to Atomic Mass Games, to the inexplicable 2.5 rules, to the ever-changing squadron point costs, to the inevitable and long-expected cancellation of the game, the 2nd edition was the result of a comedy of errors at every point along the road. Regardless, there is STILL a good tabletop miniatures game here (if you can look beyond all the greed, incompetence, and hubris,) and we'll explore that game throughout this series.

Well spoken. I got into xwings right before the 2nd edition came out. And I prefer the 1st edition.
