I'll let y'all know that behind that cabin air filter tends to hold water on these cars. if you're dumping water at the passenger seat take that off and check your seal if it's been leaking there may be about a gallon of water filled up if it's real bad like mine was vacuum it out dry . you can get some silicone (rtv black i believe)and seal it. there's a video of a guy with a Lincoln with a walkthrough video of it these cars are known to do that. just did mine good luck 💯
I learned that the blower housing has a water retaining canister right next to it, and if that canister is clogged up at the bottom with dirt and mud from this particular filter that is not sealed properly and is not flushing the water out every time it rains, then the water level on that canister rises and that's when it seeps into the vehicle through the blower filter. I am guessing that this is maintenance that has to be made in the vehicle at least every 5 years. First and foremost, make sure that the drain on the canister is unclogged by using a small screwdriver to push everything out, and rinse it out by running a bit of water through it to make sure its clean, and then seal the filter properly on top so no leaves, dirt, or other particles come in and clog it again.
Or you can do what I did and take a piece of Sheet Metal Place it over the opening but leave a gap you can do that by making it a little bit bigger than the sides the cowling and the windshield and bend it to make it fit in there tight and that way you'll keep a gap and you don't have to screw it down you just cut it a little bit large and and wedge it in there and it'll cover it so no water will get in there and you'll still get air flow
Only problem is they didn't put an air filter there for a reason. You never put an air filter facing straight up on the exterior of a car where it's likely to get water and tons of bacteria build up which is only going to go straight through that filter or build up on the filter due to the difficulty of accessing it because if you knew these cars you would know just how brittle those cowels get over time if you continuously remove them. As much as everyone would love to think that that's what it was for I hate to say but Ford was right here and it's kind of a bad idea to put a filter there for that reason. You're only giving bacteria and allergens a lovely warm moist place to build up before it gets blown straight into your cabin.
Thanks for this tip the Ford Dealer advised me that there was not a cabin air filter on the CVPIs and this explains why they did not want to be bothered with this job. I' ll get it replaced on my own with an independent repair shop when I bring it in for something else like a service interval and will buy the air filter first.
There is a air filter down below that screen that's made of foam its attached to a door that you can push open you can locate it behind the glove compartment...your welcome....if you push it open the ac blows harder that's because the flow is smoother if the filter was clean then it would blow just as hard

Sad day for the channel 😫 you’re the reason why I got into Crown Vic’s I own a Town Car the first year of the new style in the 90’s not the shoe box model That thing was a beast I drove it till I hit 500,000 miles. I loved that car when I drove for Greyline in Orlando but it was leased and drove it back and forth to the airport 7x a day.
This is exactly what I'm going to do on my Crown Vic. I read about it some time ago from the company you were referring. I don't know why Ford Motor Co. didn't install cabin air filters in the Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis. The other Ford models had them, I not sure about the Town Car. R.I.P. I brought the cabin filter kit and installed it today. Installation was a breeze and now I have filtered air coming inside my Crown Vic. I give it Five stars. :-)
@@starrwoman1 Not needed. We just use a air blower to blow the original out. We don't want high maintenence . Now you need to upkeep your added on filter. Not needed!
That’s not a cabin air filter. It’s a screen filter. Notice how clean the duct behind it was until you knocked a bunch of crap into it? That’s because it was hidden behind a cowl cover that was designed properly to only allow clean and dry air to enter by making the air turn 180 degrees. Now, they don’t bother with proper design. They use cabin filters which are really debris and mold traps that have to be removed every 6 months for proper operation. Nice advancement....
It's not a cabin air filter! It's just a screen! Ford and many other manufacturers have done this where no acual airfilter is installed a cabin air filter also filters air from the recirculated air inside as elwell as outside.
