So woe to those who write the "scripture" with their own hands, then say, "This is from Allāh," in order to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn. (2:79)
O People of the Scripture, why do you mix [i.e., confuse] the truth with falsehood and conceal the truth while you know [it]? (3:71)
"Now, when a messenger from Allah has come to them-confirming their own Scriptures-some of the People of the Book cast the Book of Allah behind their backs as if they did not know." (2:101)

Christians will bypass Dr. Tabor's words and scream "Paul had divine revelation" but when you tell them about the Prophet Muhammad PBUH, they'll suddenly be overly critical of the method of revelation. It's just comical.
Regardless, this is yet another brilliant interview brother Paul. Dr Tabor is very careful with his words and I respect him for that, but any honest person looking from the outside can see that Paul and his writings has overshadowed Jesus in the gospels and that speaks volumes

I would say kind of yes because: Paul is the initiator, the founder of Pagan Christianity, before him were the judaic Christianity. As time went on, judaic Christianity disappeared and the Pagan Christianity, which Paul founded, initiated became the todays Christianity. Christianitys development from a jewisch sect to a "new religion" took several hundred years but we can say it was completed during the 5th century after dozens of christian councils where todays Christianty was defined !!

@@Bhojani1 well, I think there are fringe groups who claim Ebionism, who have different beliefs. I personally don't know any save only a few who claimed they were trying to restore the ancient style of Hebrew and move to the Philippines as some way of fulfilling end time prophecy. But that's just one group.
I personally only accept the Torah, Prophets, and Writings as true scripture. Others I make small account of. Aside from accepting Yeshua as Messiah, I do accept the 4 Gospels - but not as inspired writings. I do believe that the original gospel of Matthew is probably the fabled "Q" gospel that scholars have touted for the last 200 years. And I believe that Yeshua put Peter in charge of the organization of the church.
I accept the apocryphal acts (mostly found in the so called "contendings of the Apostles" literature that has come down from the ethiopian church), I accept the literature attributed to Clement such as the Ethiopic Didascalia, Arabic apocalypse of Peter, Epistula Apostolorum, and the syriac Clementine Recognitions. These writings unfortunately, have been corrupted by Christian scribes but one day I intend to try and restore them to what would have been proper Jewish Petrine "Christianity". That's what I meant in my original post by "I wish to bring James out of oblivion" because these writings in some way preserve the true doctrines and accounts of the Apostles.
But these are my beliefs, I'm sure other Ebionites have different views. One thing we all have in common is that we reject Paul as an apostate. And I personally believe that he was Simon Magus. Both of these men have the gematria value of 616, which is the original value that John wrote in his Apocalypse.
Hopefully that all makes sense, feel free to ask more questions if you need clarification.

I think the Greco-Roman influence on Christianity has been heavily explored in relation to Pauline thought, but it would be interesting to see more discussions about the influences of Persian thought on the formation of Christianity. Sh. Abdal Hakim Murad had some interesting thoughts to present on Christianity not merely being a Hellenised reconfiguration of Judaism, but a fusion of Hellenistic and Persian thought culminating in the theanthropic synthesis that dominated all of Europe

Paul was a Pharisee, Persian. He beloned to a religious cast. They depended on the revenue from their followers. They were enhancing their relevance by adding new elements to their ideology to stay relevant and widen their base for increased revenue. There should be some old persian documents, but I think the Romans had the habit of erasing any trace of them.

Zoroastrianism heavily influenced 2nd temple Judaism. Ideas that changed Judaism and bleed into the subsequent religions of Christianity and Islam include monotheism, a Messiah, heaven and hell, an afterlife, good vs evil dualism and more.

@@almazchati4178 The Canaanite people that eventually became what you may be referring to as Israelites were polytheistic for most of their pre 2nd temple existence but during the Babylonia exile they were moving to a more henotheistic religious reform. That lasted until the 2nd temple period. Most people who don't understand the Zoroastrian reforms of Zarathustra don't realize that Zoroastrian became truly monotheistic in about 1,200 bce (possibly closer to 1,500 bce and some scholars think as late as 1,800 bce).
      Side note:
The Israelites were actually Canaanite people who broke into a separate group that were also known as the Hyksos. The Exodus myth is based on the invasion of the Hyksos from Canaan to Egypt during the 15th, 16th and 17th dynasty before they were eventually expelled.

    💥 Exposing Paul Lies 💥
When you read Matthew chapter 27, you will see that Judas killed himself before - according to them - the crucifixion of Jesus:
    Matthew 27:5
So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.
    Matthew 27:46
About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli,[a] lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).
That is why it means before the event - according to them - the resurrection of Jesus - that the number of the disciples would be 11, but Paul said in his letter to the Corinthians:
    1 Corinthians 15:5
and that he appeared to Cephas,[a] and then to the Twelve.
This means that he did not receive the revelation and the alleged story of the resurrection did not happen, but Mark, who came later said:
    Mark 16:14
Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen.
So Mark (The Anonymous Person) who didn't claim getting revelation didn't make the mistake in this alleged resurrection story but Paul who made the claim getting the revelation from Jesus get it wrong 🙄

Yes Paul came from Galilee as we read in Jerome and escaped to Tarsus "taking his parents with him." When was this? When the Romans besieged the town which was in AD67/68. This places Paul and indeed the new Christian movement after the war with the Jews.

    Some key moments:
39:40: "All the way through the Hebrew Bible God is accessible to every human being. God is nearer to those who call upon Him. `Call upon the name of the Lord and you will be saved.' That sounds like Paul but it's actually a quote from the Hebrew Bible: call upon the Creator and you can be saved from trouble, even saved from your sins. You can be forgiven as a father pities his son, so does the one God pity those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, He removes our sins."
    50:57 "Prayer is the sacrifice."
51:29 "The new religion of Christianity was born in Romans 3."
59:12: "There is not one Christian element in the Book of James."
1:19:00: "Remember that verse in the Gospel of Thomas, where the disciples say, 'What do we do when you leave us? We're going to be orphans.' 'Go to James the Just... for whom Heaven and Earth came to be.'"

1 hour & half lecture 🥰, but before I start
Let Paul answer the title himself.... allegedly if he wrote it that is~
    1 Corinthians 15
Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel 👉I preached to you👈, which you received and on which you have taken your stand.
2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word 👉I preached to you👈. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

    • @trismegistus2881
      @trismegistus2881 Год назад +2

It's not because you preach something that you 'invented' it.
And you dishonestly omitted the next verse, 1 Corinthians 15:3
"For I delivered to you as of first importance 👉what I also received,👈 that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures..."

    • @silverfoenix
      @silverfoenix Год назад +1

@@trismegistus2881 In that case it was supposed to be: ... the gospel 👉 I received 👈 or I was given! then you received !!!
Where is Barnabas in this cycle? Did he not preach the same?
But Paul himself is a man of ambiguity.
Look at his statement of gaining followers.
Earlier 1 Corinthians 9 he self interpreted a text to not overburden creatures beyond their capabilities Deut. 25: 4 to justify earning from preaching THEN made it a commandment!
14 In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel
      Then stated his methods...
I did not say this as one time example but after reading throughly the letters!
      You can't help but notice,
There is a deceptive word play at hand of which he tries to insert his own ideologies & preach them alongside what he received.

Thanks for your work. If I may ask an off-topic question, why did the Catholic church choose Peter as its leader or founder such that the Pope is the vicar of Peter? In my modest understanding , it is by virtue of this selection of Peter that the Church of Rome claimed superiority over the Eastern Churches in Egypt and Syria. Thanks.

Obviously i'm just a layman, an undergraduate level of formal theological education at best, however sometimes I feel as if Dr. Tabor under sells how much emphasis Paul *does* place on the importance of ethics. I think Paul would 100% not only endorse the concepts in the letter of James but himself preached them. Even the faith-works dynamics. Paul mainly had to deal with Gentile-Jewish religious inter relational concerns and so his letter largely reflect that and are not always treatises on ethics which he certainly reminds his readers that he taught them and strictly warned them about.
I think Paul says what James says but simply adds that the power source and vitalizing energy for the christian belief lies in the death and resurrection of Jesus (among other power sources).
A question to ask, which Dr Tabor and Blogging Theology have asked and considered, is did the other 12 disciples know of, understand, and agree with the ideas Paul had about Jesus' death and resurrection and its subsequent ramifications.
Blogging Theology believes they did not I think. I think Tabor as well or at least he hesitates to think they agreed. I'm not a trained historian or textual critic, so i'm only trying to exegete the New Testament, not mine the New Testament for historicity. In Galatians, in Paul's account of things, he says to Peter "How can you compel gentiles to live like a Jew when you yourself live like a Gentile!". I had presumed that Paul was saying that Peter had initially had some sort of agreement and shared understanding of Paul's idealogy that allowed him to think he was free from obligation or total obligation to the law of Moses (Paul early had claimed that James and Peter had already heard his gospel and gave him the hand of fellowship). He may have vascillated when men from James came, but this is still significant because, according to Paul, it seems like Peter *did* agree with Paul's gospel at least at some point even adopting it to his lifestyle. There is of course the book of Acts, which I understand Dr.Tabor and many others believe is a bit of Luke making Christian history and development seem smoother than it perhaps really was. In Acts there was friction but eventual tolerance of not complete agreement between James and Paul eventually.

If he is that negative about the Hadith science then Christian literature stand absolutly no chance with this hyper critical guy.

He's a hypocrite and keeps his audience in an echo chamber because of his confirmation bias.
