Can someone, preferably from Liebherr, please tell me what the term "duty cycle" means? And, how does a duty cycle crawler crane differ from a crane that is not duty cycle?
I'm pretty sure I know the definitions of the words "duty" and "cycle", but I'll be damned if I can figure out how those two words go together to describe a kind of crawler crane.

Well a normal crawler crane typically moves a low number of loads per job and then gets transported to a new site. Duty cycle crawler crane means its designed to withstand a very high number of cycles like you would get when constantly working in dragline configuration, with clamshell buckets, deep foundation equipment, wrecking balls or something like that. This is a completely different machine compared to a crane that just lifts a thing or two every now and then.

Thank you for answering my question on the meaning of "duty cycle".

How would this crane compare with a Manitowoc 4600 in dragline duty?

assuming you're still active, +epistte, it would depend (of course) on the bucket size used. In the other video on this model, the manufacturer says (in the comments) that it can be fitted with a bucket up to 12 cubic meters in size. When you convert to yards, that puts it above the 4600's larger cousin, the 6400, which was specifically designed for dragline operation. (obviously, Manitowoc no longer produces either.) Additionally, the So yeah, in a vacuum the 8300 is better. However, the HS 8300 is only available from direct purchase, so overhauling a 4600 would probably be a better choice, depending on how much longer the machine would be used. (If it would be used for a long time to come, buy a new one, if not keep the 4600.)
      (also i know i'm replying to a year-old post)

Thanks for the detailed reply. I had no idea that the 8300HD would be equal to the 6400. I assumed that it would be equal to the 6400 or the Lima 2400.
